Good luck on first day back Meeces. You'll soon be back into the swing.

DS had first day at 6th form today and managed to be late!!! Even though I was giving him a countdown to the train. I've decided not to drive him to train station anymore as I am enabling the crapness.

Got the bamboo removal people here this week and its rained so much the garden is like a mudbath, its also up the walls in side passage and all over the front drive. I am digging deep not to run out screaming armed with bleach sprays and scrubbing brushes. I'm hoping for more biblical rain at the weekend to wash it all away.

swampwitch0 · 04/09/2025 13:43

I got an email from ocado yesterday evening advertising Christmas sweets/chocolates and biscuits!

Me too. At vastly-inflated prices! I may be ready to get buying, but not at full price! 🤣

If they send me another 20% off code, I'll maybe think about it. Xmas Grin

Meeces, I walked the dog in a long sleeved top and raincoat today, so it must be turning cooler! Have to say, the amount of rain we've had recently is bonkers.

It's definitely feeling like autumn now. DS has gone back to school today and I have changed the summer tablecloth for the autumn one.

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/09/2025 19:46

There were many more leaves coming off the trees when I was driving home from my craft group today. It's definitely feeling more autumnal now - it's that funny time of year when you don't know if you should wear a summer dress or jeans and a long sleeve top.

I hope today was a good day @NoCheesesForUsMeeces

@Magnoliasunrisetoday was the first day back with pupils for my DDs. They both had good days but are planning an early night 😂

swampwitch0 · 04/09/2025 19:54

It's been raining most of today, but quite sunny, too.
My new sofa covers should arrive tomorrow 😊

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/09/2025 21:40

Ahh Meeces tomorrow is Friday then the weekend Xmas Grin

We had rain, rain and guess what ....more rain !
I;m going to saunter off to one of the Aldi (we have three quite close by ) and stock up on freezer food for DS (pizza/garlic bread) and laundry/dishwasher items . And a look in Aldi Aisle of Wonder (of course)

Might browse the festive offerings on Ocado /Waitrose (not to buy right now but just to not get FOMO)

Then going to buy some Hallowe'en/Autumn decorations if something catches my eye from TKMaxx .

swamp enjoy the new sofa covers , though they;re a 'mare to fit on ! We have an Ikea Ecktorp sofa with removeable washable covers . Dark teal green at the moment but there's a beige set in the loft for summer . They are a proper workout getting them in place !

swampwitch0 · 04/09/2025 21:44

@70isaLimitNotaTarget
Same here!
I've got the original creamy colour covers on atm, but I'm finally getting my dark grey ones that dh promised me 9 years ago
😃

Ooooh nice number sequence all the ones Xmas Grin

I am so easily pleased .

I am going to slope off to bed now . There was a helicopter flying round earlier couldn't see what it was up to though .
Hopefully not someone running through the gardens like we had a few years ago .....!

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2025 08:42

Morning!

Dry but definitely autumnal this morning. I was back in short sleeves for dog walking! I think next week is meant to be drier than this week, thankfully. We've had so much rain (hopefully taking us out of drought conditions).

Get you with your 3 Aldis, 70! We have two nearby (one is older and a bit grotty and one was purpose built about 7 years ago and is much nicer).

We are on the look out in Sainsbos for the lovely side of salmon they did last year. We BBQ'd it on Christmas Day to have with our buffet.

3 Aldis but no Booths though @NoWordForFluffy

Tries not to feel too hard done by here

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 05/09/2025 09:29

No Booths anywhere near here either. We do have everything else though (Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury’s, Asda & Morrisons in my little town, Tesco in the next town up and M&S food in the next town down) 😳

I am WFH today (half day - feel like I’m taking the mick a bit but I have found going back to work hard). It is cold enough that I’ve added my fleece slippers and a thicker cardigan already. Makes me feel decidedly ready for Christmas planning…

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/09/2025 11:10

I found last years Marks&Spencer Food magazine (the freebie one that is basically an advert for the festive food) while I was clearing out my bedside cupboard .Photo of a load of mince pies on the front
I have calmly put it to one side so I can carry on with my housework

polishes halo

Nice enough to hang washing out today which was a change!

I picked some tomatoes , some had split , maybe because of the heavy rain they;d had a growth spurt and burst out of their skins ?
I can roast them , they won;t be wasted .

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2025 08:31

Morning!

It's meant to be dry today, so we have a lot of washing to do. Always have so much washing! 😩

I'm taking the dog out soon, and I need to pop into the parents later. I also have to collect DH's Christmas pants from M&S (20% off!) and clean the kitchen (was meant to do it at lunchtime yesterday, but failed to take a long enough break...bit like I meant to finish at 5 but worked til half past!). Other than that, I'm not up to much today.

I also need some tealight candles. We're on the last one and we have a teapot with a candle underneath, so that's an urgent task!

Magnoliasunrise · 06/09/2025 08:34

I'm planning a trip to Aldi, quite like their lacura moisturisers and my friend had the poppy and barley perfume that was quite nice. It's a 30 min drive though.

Hats off to your DD's @TheWoollybacksWife, teaching is a hard job these days and I don't know how some teachers put up with it full time. I provide SEN support 2/3 days a week and that's enough!

Gym this morning then garden centre after lunch to see if I can snap up some end of summer bargains. Going to be nice weather today.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2025 08:38

I use the Lacura day cream, at the princely price of £1.49 a pot!

I bought over £100 of plants and bulbs online, Magnolia. I definitely don't need a garden centre visit. 🤣

OP posts:
Magnoliasunrise · 06/09/2025 08:42

That's the one, Fluffy!!

swampwitch0 · 06/09/2025 08:52

New sofa covers on. Look lovely 😊
Need to clean the upstairs windows today...
We have an aldi, co-op and tiny Sainsbury's, no Booths anywhere near 😟
There are two M&S food shops, both about half an hour drive away.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 06/09/2025 09:44

70 I picked tomatoes yesterday too. I only got about 6 (there are more waiting but not quite ready yet) and 5 snack cucumbers. They didn't even make it to the fridge - my sister, niece and LO scoffed them 😂

Jealous of those of you who can use Aldi dupes. I've had allergic reactions to moisturisers and sun cream as well as their washing powder so I avoid it all now.

My big plan this morning is to clean while LO is out with DH (club then haircut). Kitchen is done, robot thing will hoover and mop. I need to clean downstairs toilet, polish/dust then clean the fish tank (we are fish-sitting for my sister who is between houses - was either the fish or the cat).

This afternoon will be food shopping, maybe a walk and a chill out at home as it's been a big, busy week for all of us and LO appears to be at the start of some sort of cough/cold (of course, 3 days in nursery and he's full of germs) 😷

swampwitch0 · 06/09/2025 09:48

I'm a big fan of the Lacura rose face balm (I think its an elemis dupe...)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2025 10:03

They had some of the cleansing balm there Meeces (Elemis stylee )
I don;t know half of the brands they are duping TBH but if I Google and find the results I am gobsmacked how close they are in the packaging etc.
Same with food items , very similar .

I bought a hairmask a couple of weeks ago (Sol de Janeiro dupe ) it does smell the same , DD used some )

I use the laundry and dishwasher products which are good quality ( and Leaping Bunny ) I do a visit every couple of months to stock up .
I bought a lemon yoghurt to try , I;m glad I only bought one , it was average .

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 06/09/2025 10:24

Im a big fan of their food dupes (the butter ones are great) but the cleaning stuff and skincare clearly has something in it which doesn’t agree with me. It’s annoying but not worth the risk so I stick with Nivea and Simple stuff instead.

Still cleaning here. Listening to the new Strike book on Audible. I’d forgotten I’d pre-ordered it when using up my credits so I could stop my account. It’s a great listen so far (in 4 hours in to a 31hr book).

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 06/09/2025 10:34

Gym this morning, then I'm going to cover some dining room chairs.this evening we are going to watch The Thunderbolts on Disney+
