Autumn and Winter podcasts

Please can I get your advice for gorgeous seasonal podcasts for autumn and winter? I’ve managed to hold off until late July but no longer!
The ones I love already are:
As the Season Turns (Probably my favourite podcast of all time)
Calm Christmas Podcast (the earlier seasons, didn’t like the 2024 one nearly as much)
Nigel Slater Christmas Chronicles (I have the book too)
The Christmas Prepper (absolutely love this one)

Ive found loads that I really don’t like, but I thought this board might have some good suggestions ❤️ Thank you!!

Ooooh I never knew this was a thing. I love the Nigel Slater on audiobook, it would be nice to have more to choose from.

YuleBeBack · 24/07/2025 08:30

Yes! I can send you a screenshot or link if helpful? They’re awesome

The calm Christmas one is actually linked to a book

I really enjoyed the calm Christmas when it first came out but felt it ran out of steam towards the end . I also found some of the descriptions too saccharine to be believable life . I’d love to find similar and with an equally soothing voice .

It’s so lovely, isn’t it, those first few seasons. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this year is more similar to the first couple. I love the cosiness and bits of Christmas history from around the world

I was only listening to the Calm Christmas last night.
You've listed all the ones I know of so will be watching this thread for ideas. If I find anything else will update x

YuleBeBack · 24/07/2025 22:08

Ditto! I’ll keep looking Smile

Hello from the Nigel Slater thread! 👋

I listened to a couple of things last year and the year before (I'll be back once I remember) but mostly I love listening to Nigel's Christmas Chronicles.

At the moment I'm listening to some nature, rewilding, bird things. Also some novels set in Shetland or Scandanavia as they seem to deliver on the seasonal vibe for me (snow, scenery, wildlife, crackling fires etc)

siblingrevelryagain · 25/07/2025 13:33

Not sure whether it's what you're looking for, but I binged loads of Salem/witch episodes last autumn; loads of the good history pods have Halloween and Xmas specials if you do a search. Some suggestions of ones I enjoyed (I have an Autumn and Xmas podcast playlist 🎃)

The Rest is History:
113.Halloween and modern paganism
115 The gunpowder plot
331 American witches
402.Christmas; pagan or Christian?,

132.A Christmas Carol,
133.Christmas churches
10.Christmas
289.Drink (festive special)

American History Hit
Salem witch trials
Sleepy Hollow and the haunted mansion

RainbowZebraWarrior · 25/07/2025 15:03

I've just found a possible contender. It's called What We Do In The Winter and it's a rather quaint telling of life and history of people in the Isles of Mull, Iona, and Colonsay.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 25/07/2025 15:07

Also the wild minds podcast is lovely. The episodes from December definitely fit the bill (think nature / wellbeing / solstice)

RainbowZebraWarrior · 25/07/2025 15:11

Tales of winter enchantment is also lovely on Spotify. It's a daily notes sort of thing.

N.B. It also involves active relaxation / meditation which is not a bad thing, but may not be everyone's cup of tea.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 25/07/2025 15:22

I'm not sure if this fits the bill per sé, but I discovered it last year via Chris Packham. It's called The sleeping forecast. This is a link to his episode, but there are many others to choose from with different narrators and themes.

The Sleeping Forecast - Drift off to nature with Chris Packham, and the sounds of Springwatch - BBC Sounds

BBC Springwatch's Chris Packham reads from a 1920s nature book to help you drift off...

These are all brilliant, thank you so much, everyone!

This is wonderful, thank you so much. When I have looked for things about witchcraft and Halloween, Equinoxes and autumn, I have often found podcasts about becoming a witch or supernatural beliefs, which are not for me. Appreciate it!

Betwixt the sheets podcast also has some good witch & witch-trial episodes

Also the History Hit/After dark podcast has lots of good witchy ones.

I want it to be Autumn already!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 26/07/2025 12:53

Also, not a podcast but a book. I bought it after it was featured on radio 4 last winter and its a lovely audio book to listen to

Ooh, this sounds like some I need.

PumpkinSpicedTea · 29/07/2025 13:39

You've reminded me that after discovering and listening to Calm Christmas the last couple of years, I was going to listen to the older seasons earlier this year. How early is not too early do you guys think? If that makes sense 😆

Oohh yes, I love Calm Christmas and Nigel Slater.
Where would I find As the Seasons Turn?

This sounds idyllic.
@RainbowZebraWarrior Where would I find it?
