Autumn and Winter podcasts

Please can I get your advice for gorgeous seasonal podcasts for autumn and winter? I’ve managed to hold off until late July but no longer!
The ones I love already are:
As the Season Turns (Probably my favourite podcast of all time)
Calm Christmas Podcast (the earlier seasons, didn’t like the 2024 one nearly as much)
Nigel Slater Christmas Chronicles (I have the book too)
The Christmas Prepper (absolutely love this one)

Ive found loads that I really don’t like, but I thought this board might have some good suggestions ❤️ Thank you!!

I woke up thinking about this thread this morning and have spent half an hour searching things like 'midwinter' and 'solstice' and hopefully have a couple more recommendations to add once I've properly checked them out.

Any suggestions?
I think today is the day I start a calm Christmas!!

I’m trying to decide whether I should listen to them in order (ie Listen to all of season one, then all of season two) Or if I should listen to the first episode of each series, Followed by the second Episode of each series, et cetera

I think I've saved them, but I'll have to go and have a look. I seek to have gotten a bit behind with my podcasts, and I also have three Audible credits as I've not picked a new book for a few months.

A candle and a winter podcast sounds lovely right now.

@YuleBeBack I've tried to find my notes that I made about a month ago from things I found that might fit the bill, but I've lost it. I had another search online, but I'm not really coming up with anything that feels exactly what I'm looking for.

I keep seeing things, then they turn out to be mostly ghost stories, witchy related tales, or more specific things relating to places (like the Shetland isles for example). I'm after something that includes the weather, nature, the Aurora, food and recipes, traditions and anecdotes. As well as possibly crafts and home decor. Things like candle making (which I know about) and preserving etc.

I've been pondering for a while now about starting my own Autumn and Winter podcast. I've made some notes as to possible titles today. I have a friend who runs a podcast who I will be seeing tomorrow, so I'm going to ask if he has any advice on starting up.

I'll report back again in the next couple of days.

I've just been recommended As the season turns podcast on another thread (The Nigel Slater thread) and I don't think it's been mentioned before so I'm off to have a wee listen as it sounds perfect

I bought a calm Christmas book on Audible, but there is a lot of repetition so I wouldn’t recommend it if you’ve already listened to the podcast

The Calm Christmas series 5 trailer has just been released for anyone who enjoys the podcast .

@hattie43
Thanks for that. Is this on Apple?
I listened to a couple and really enjoyed them. If I remember correctly, they’re free but with ads?

PumpkinSpicedTea · 09/11/2025 13:45

@MonkeyTennis34 I listen to Calm Christmas on Spotify 😊

I read the calm Christmas book a few years and I am trying the podcast this year. For those not keen on the later seasons, where would you start? I'll probably only have time and patience to listen to one or two episodes a week, as I'm much more a reader, so want to go for the ones that will be most helpful.

What did people think of this year’s Calm Christmas podcast?

What did people think of this year’s Calm Christmas podcast?

Underwhelming. I realised there is only so many things she can say before repeating herself . I loved the podcast last year because it was new to me . This year I’m finding it a bit ditsy, still love her calming voice though .

PumpkinSpicedTea · 04/01/2026 14:44

I usually love Calm Christmas but feel it is getting a bit samey which is a shame. Willing to try again next year if she does a new one though 😂🎅

YuleBeBack · 04/01/2026 19:59

I wasn't a fan and especially didn’t like the frog story or “fog self” episode. But I’ve enjoyed the earlier ones so will go back to those next year!

maybe in 8 months or so we can share a few more/new podcasts! Have loved everyone’s thoughts and suggestions xxxx happy 2026 everyone

I completely agree; I didn’t love this series either and may go back to the original ones next year. Totally appreciate that it’s difficult to find new content each year, and I did enjoy some aspects.

I enjoyed listening to some “darker” history podcasts that felt cosy (Betwixt the Sheets & After Dark) & “Dickensian”.
