Could I please ask for assistance getting a special GCSE results present for a friends daughter? She’s 16 and my budget is around £50. Things are very tight money wise for the family and her mum doesn’t let me buy bday gifts for them so this is my one chance to spoil her and I want to get it right! She’s very into whatever is trending- the mum managed to get a tiny bottle of Sol de janiero at Christmas and the daughter was ecstatic. So I’d like to get some things equally on trend but I’ve only got tiny kids so don’t know what’s in. Any ideas? Thank you thank you!

Buy a gift have got 30% off with JULY30. I usually get MIL tickets to Kew Gardens or similar so might be worth a look if you are a regular buyer!

In ko way trendy, but this is my go to for a wow present that she can keep forever.

Two giftwrap options. Both of which are beautiful.

THE CLASSIC
Presented in a timeless black-and-white box or bag.

THE ESSENTIAL
An organic cotton pouch nestled in a recyclable shipping box.

I don’t know if it’s particularly on trend but my older teen daughter was pleased with a Dior lipgloss I got her. It comes in beautiful packaging with a sample or 2 and if you join their club (free) you get free next day delivery. I was very impressed at christmas. They often offer free engraving too.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 04/07/2025 23:29

@Elpheba both the Chanel mirror and sol de janeiro are good choices and would be very popular with a 16yo girl.

Other popular brands include
Summer Fridays
Fenty
Dior
Glow recipe
Benefit
Rare beauty
Huda beauty
Gisu
Amika
Glossier
One size
Merit
Anastasia Beverly Hills
Lanegie
Charlotte tilbury
Kosas
Pualas choice

This is the list my teen DD gave me to look out for when I’m shopping sales.

Elpheba · 05/07/2025 07:27

Thanks all- some fab ideas, really appreciate the links too and I’ll note down the list of brands and start bargain hunting- as it wouldn’t give me the same thrill if it wasn’t discounted in some way 😂😂

zingerdoo · 05/07/2025 08:28

Thank you Notlongnow1, I've bought the trainset and Harry Potter for my newphew who is 4. His birthday is in December so can stash them away until then, but they are perfect!

This is definitely always a winner with teen girls

Help needed please!
My Aunt is going to be 60 in August. She is very important to me, especially since my mum died. She came with me to pick my wedding dress, was with me as I got ready. Was the first person I told about my pregnancy and called first when both my children arrived.
I am struggling with a present. For her 50th I got her Diamond and Sapphire earrings. I’ve done hotel stays, handbags, perfume, tickets for The Killers. etc for birthdays and Christmas. I am at a loss and although I have 7 weeks, it’s stressing me out (especially when I am over half way through Xmas shopping).
So do any of you have any ideas. I’ve got a budget of around £200.
If it helps, for my Uncle’s 60th I got him a voucher to do a river cruise with evening meal in Stratford upon Avon, so I will honestly consider any idea. I just want it to be memorable.
Thanks all. Xx

Georgieporgie29 · 05/07/2025 10:56

@Whatthecluckingcluck what about a spa voucher?
Or afternoon tea at the ritz type voucher? (Or any other posh place)

Or you could go with her for either of those really?

munchbunch12 · 05/07/2025 12:39

Bit of a weird one, but does anyone know of any good liquid soaps for gardeners, preferably under £5? Thanks 🙏

MagicalFudgePops · 05/07/2025 13:58

The Dior lip gloss sounds like the perfect gift for my niece but does seem quite pricey. Does anyone remember if they had deals on them last year?

Wellwhoknewthat · 05/07/2025 14:05

@whatthecluckingcluck hot air balloon ride?

beetr00 · 05/07/2025 14:49

@Whatthecluckingcluck

How about a flying lesson over her home town? ✈️

Whatthecluckingcluck · 05/07/2025 15:42

Thanks everyone. It’s definitely giving me some ideas that I had never thought of.
it’s difficult because she isn’t my mum, and I am the oldest out of her nieces and nephews, but also 8-10 years older than her own children as well (but I am 38, so it’s not like their babies), and I don’t want to “out shine” whatever they decide to do.
On a Christmas note, Argos have some toys at half price. I am eyeing up the Chad Valley Wooden Cake Stand that is currently £5.50 xx

Has anyone else received a gift card from M&S as an apology for having their order cancelled during the cyber attack? Seems a bit counter productive for them to send those out when they’re down millions but very nice of them if it’s not a scam.

Yes, I had a £5 gift card, so nice of them!

AmazingBees · 05/07/2025 16:46

The Entertainer currently has buy one get one free on all Early Learning Centre toys

MamaK19 · 05/07/2025 20:25

Has anybody seen any monster high bargains please? My little one is obsessed 🫣

Sideorderofchips · 05/07/2025 20:33

Evening all

Finally bought my first thing the other day. Slacking so badly this year but it's got so much harder! Chipstheeldest is now 18 and off to uni this year. Middlechips is 14 and not into anything trendy. And baby chips is 10 in September abd only interested in what he can engineer together and dismantle (he's autistic and adhd and Car mad)

How is everyone else's shoping going

I’ve got a couple of decent things for my sister and niece. The ‘problem’ is that I keep buying things for myself instead 🤣

Tooteefrootee · 05/07/2025 22:14

I may have almost finished for DD5 (who'll be 6 by then), along with 3/5 of her cousins... eek
