fair warning: this is Christmas board :D

I've picked up some bits and pieces from Boots' £10 Tuesdays, e.g. makeup and brushes that can go to present appeals by local charities. Also ordered some new velvety red Christmas stockings which arrived today. They feel horrible so will return, unfortunately. I also got Christmas cards from the Barnardo's sale earlier this year.

What have you got so far?

So far I have only picked up some books and stuff I can put into a beauty hamper for my teen.

Now that Easter is over I will ramp up my buying as these months are passing very quickly.

Aldi constantly seems to have toys in their special buys so I think ticking off my niece and nephews will be my first move.

Nothing yet but I have a long list of ideas, especially for my youngest

Just a few rolls of Christmas dinosaur wrapping paper. I have no ideas yet this year and have another birthday to sort out first. Usually I've bought something by now!

For DD10:

  • Wireless ear buds. She's mentioned she'd like a wireless keyboard too so she'll get that.
  • Quad makeup palette.

  • Fairy lights for round her bed.
We are travelling to relatives this Xmas so everything has to be small/light.

Nothing yet. I usually start as soon as the schools go back in September. If I see anything before which is on offer, then I'll grab it 😀

MaltipooMama · 25/04/2025 13:02

Oh goodness I have found my people on this thread, I’d be too scared to tell anyone in real life that I was thinking of Christmas presents now 🫣 not bought anything just yet but following along for early inspiration!

hattie43 · 25/04/2025 17:41

@ilovetea14 driving lessons @ 14 ?

WhiskyandWater · 25/04/2025 17:46

Cards and paper in the sales. Xmas pjs half price in the P Louise sale after Christmas. Make up brushes in DD’s fave colour. A couple of bits of make up and some festive shower gels (again P Louise sale) and some Christmas socks.

ilovetea14 · 25/04/2025 20:47

@hattie43 sorry not really driving lessons. It's a one day early driving experience for 13-17 year old's it's €95 for the day. They get to drive a car and learn how to park, reverse that kind of thing. My ds is mad to learn how to drive.

Sounds similar to Young Driver - my DC both loved this
The YD team took over a car park ( we did Lakeside or Bluewater) so plenty of space and marked out areas to drive . There were maybe 6-8 cars at any time.

The instructors were great, very patient and must've been THE bravest people ever 😂

It was ££ even then, they did 30 minutes which was long enough .
They get a book outlining what theg covered and what they did well at ( and what to look out for like heavy on the accelerator!)

Imperfectpolly · 26/04/2025 06:41

I haven't bought yet but have been making plans so jumping in here.

I have 2 DS (12 and 6) and planning on getting them a vr headset to share. I was thinking of getting the switch 2 for 6 yo but I'll wait and see what people say about it once it's out.

Tana433 · 26/04/2025 17:59

Im being a bit selfish and buying myself a few treats for this year. I always spend so much time and money planning things for others that i get forgotten about. So far i have bought and put away 2 pairs of pjs, an oodie, some slippers, two books off my highly anticipated list and i will also buy a couple more through the year, galaxy hot chocolate (whilst on offer). Im also planning to buy nearer the time a few bottles of asti, nice chocolate that i will squirrel away just for me and some lovely ground coffee as i usually drink instant throughout the year. I always start to get excited from September onwards, bloody love autumn and winter!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 26/04/2025 20:18

@Tana433 sounds absolutely fabulous, good for you. I’ have to be honest I’ve stored a few bits away for myself too.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 27/04/2025 17:03

I have been swamped with work so not done anything yet. I need to be better organised than last year.

SomeFiggyPudding · 27/04/2025 18:53

I’m the least organised I’ve been since I found this board 🤣 but my children are getting older so it’s getting tougher to buy in advance. I have sorted my youngest daughter’s stocking stuff, and I’ve got some novelty socks in the pressie bag. Also got cards and wrapping paper but that’s it so far. Better than nothing I suppose!
