fair warning: this is Christmas board :D

I've picked up some bits and pieces from Boots' £10 Tuesdays, e.g. makeup and brushes that can go to present appeals by local charities. Also ordered some new velvety red Christmas stockings which arrived today. They feel horrible so will return, unfortunately. I also got Christmas cards from the Barnardo's sale earlier this year.

What have you got so far?

I was in The Works today and picked up a couple of lovely spiral bound notebooks for £2. They had a nice range of colours/designs if anyone is looking for stocking fillers.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 18/06/2025 17:16

Im struggling with what I can do early this year as DCs are funny ages and likes so struggling with what I think I can buy in advance. What I have managed is

DD13
Milk lip oils
CK socks
Fluffy socks
Makeup sponge - novelty one

DD11
Funko Pop - it’s not actually released yet but I have preordered it.
CK socks
Fluffy socks
Makeup sponge novelty

DD8
Dressing gown & slippers
novelty make up sponge

DH
Wool jumper

Random - about 5 pairs of kids slippers, they were on sale for £1 each so I’m putting them to one side for my friend who works at a community food bank, they are always looking for extras at Christmas and thought they would be perfect.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/06/2025 18:19

My DD is making requests for a new dressing gown (winter weight )
Usually every couple of years I buy her one
Summer dressing gown is a CyberJammies ( bargain from M&S ) so I;ll be keeping my eyes peeled

TheWiseFrog · 28/06/2025 18:01

Science kit for each DC.
Various smiggle bits bought in sale, some for under tree and some for stockings

So not much…. Yet….! But planning on doing an order each month between now and Xmas, ideally in a sale as budget is limited.

3KidsPlusDdog · 28/06/2025 18:03

I’m going to start in the next few weeks. I bought Christmas cards in the January sales. Mind you, I only give less than 5 or so

BiddyPopthe2nd · 01/07/2025 10:08

I have made a start - a nice fancy zipped pouch for a DSis who loves travel, when I was travelling a couple of weeks ago myself and got a few hours to be a tourist.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/07/2025 20:55

So far-
pyjamas for DD
Leighton Debby nail polish also for DD

I need to find a safe hiding place....

fourelementary · 02/07/2025 23:21

I’ve ordered some stocking stuff in the Rex London sale. And got socks and pjs in the next sale also.

IceCreamplz · 15/07/2025 12:49

Love this thread! I have bought a few bits for DD9.
Wicked blu ray that she's been asking for and a cat book to read. Sticker sets and a pixel colouring book from Temu. I love collecting small bits for my daughter throughout the year.

RabbitsRock · 15/07/2025 22:29

NotMeekNotObedient · 31/05/2025 21:24

I haven't had much luck so far this year, not much to be had in the sales with the expectation of John Lewis.

DH:
Endoscope camera
John Lewis T-shirt

MIL:
Liberty Xmas fabric quaters
Xmas tapestry kit

Friends:
Nuxe Cracker
Arran Aromatics handcare set

DD (will be 4)
Dolls house sticker book
Tights

I have lots of ideas written down which feels positive.

We will have a new baby which is exciting!

I do need to think of an advent calendar idea this year for DD, I was a bit unorganised last year and ended up with too few items 🙈.

So curious about the endoscope camera!
Just googled - that makes more sense! I was going down the medical route for a minute there! Going down being the operative phrase 🤣

I have bought a couple of Harry Potter gifts for my daughter in Prime week. I also have a few gifts for my nieces and nephews. There are a lot of them so I am trying to get something each month. My daughter has asked for a desk in her bedroom for her Christmas this year so I have started having a look.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 18/07/2025 14:34

Oliver bonas has a decent sale on at the moment so just bought some little jewellery boxes for my friends and a jewellery tray for my sil. I’ve got some extra fluffy blankets from Dunelm
that I’ve saving for nearer to Christmas, may do brrr baskets this year instead of advent boxes. Keeping an eye out now for deals!

@penelopemoneypenny do you have a link to the flying alarm clock please. Thanks

Darkling1 · 05/08/2025 00:45

I’ve only got some new toys for my two cats, so far. Their current toys have ripped, so stuffing is coming out…

We’ll purchase wrapping paper and sellotape when we go shopping next week.

Putting £20 a month on an M&S gift card. Nice to know in December that my Xmas food shopping is paid for and not on my January credit card bill

Rainbow1901 · 05/08/2025 10:02

Picked up a Paw Patrol Stamper kit for Grandson's Goodie Sack.
Other than that Christmas savings now at £480, Nectar £3.07 and Iceland £14.84 These savings are added to by rounding up on Iceland shops - will start adding a quid here and there to boost it in time for Christmas. Probably won't be buying so much this year as DH is now diabetic so the sweet stuff is going to be off limits but he does like a nice bar of dark chocolate which he can have within reason.
Still no further on with the train trip but starting to see adverts all over the place for Christmas Events so need to get going with that one.

KittenyChops · 05/08/2025 17:24

I’ve started super early for me - normally I begin in about September but I’m getting a head start

To date I have bought …

A £75 eye cream for £6
A £32 cleanser for £6
A £30 lip balm for £6 - quite pleased with those bits as they’ll be ideal stocking fillers for my adult daughter (and they’re all still readily available on John Lewis etc at full price - Do shout me if you want a link - and yes, it’s a perfectly normal website!)

A Charlotte tilbury lip gloss (no great saving on this but still got £7 off)

brand new gold earrings from Vinted for £12

brand new whistle wool coat for £30 on vinted - was £290 and is tagged

it’s fair to say that I like a bargain 🤣

Please could I have the link for the skincare bits?

KittenyChops · 05/08/2025 18:04

God knows what that link is but go to the ‘£6 and under’ section so you don’t end up subscribing to PJs

Struggling a bit this year. I'm giving up work just before Christmas, so I know I've got to get started but budget carefully and I'm just not inspired!

The only thing I have decided is that I put the gifts (wrapped) around the tree in containers that are part of the gift, if you see what I mean. One year I bought all Seasalt bags (the lovely jute ones), last year I had big terracotta garden pots (everyone is adult). This year I am going to buy some lovely baskets to put the presents in. Now to actually buy something....

Tell a lie, I have bought one book on 'What to do in the Garden' for each month of the year, for DD1 who is moving into her new home with her partner, with a huge garden, and a packet of wildflower seeds for tubs for DD3, who is also moving into a new house but will only have a little patio garden.
