Evening!

I'm tired after today, but the buffet was a success. Tomorrow it's dinner!

Everyone seems to love their gifts, which is always good. 😊 Bed soon as it's all go again from the morning!

I'm up for a bun bake off 70.

Very hungover today. I managed to drag my sorry ass to pilates this morning and then the supermarket but since that I've been comatose on the sofa. When will I learn that when I start feeling pissed I should STEP AWAY FROM THE WINE !!!

I think we are due to have your rain shortly Fluffy - we've had thunderstorms predicted although its looking pretty nice outside right now.

Exciting tomorrow to drop into the 100s!

Magnolia, I hope your hangover didn't last the whole day. God knows why we do such things to ourselves at our ages! 😬🤣

The forecast is still pretty changeable here, it has to be said.

Magnoliasunrise · 08/06/2025 09:19

Sadly it pretty much lasted all day. We watched Mission Impossible then I went to bed, felt like the whole day was wasted (I did manage to get 2 washes done though)
I think next time I might write on my arm in sharpie STOP DRINKING AFTER 3 GLASSES OF WINE SIGNED YOURSELF

KosyKat · 08/06/2025 10:35

Morning.

Can't believe it is June already!!

I've booked a long weekend to celebrate DPs birthday, I can't say much celebrating has been done but he told me he is enjoyed just chilling out.

A load of washing is in, hoping to get it out on the line....a few times last week I had to madly dash outside when the heavens opened.

Just gave the kitchen a quick blitz, with Christmas music playing through my phone.....eek (never too early).

NoWordForFluffy · 09/06/2025 09:42

🎉 🎉 199 🎉🎉

Down into the 100s!

I'm on my day off today, which is nice. I need to do housework though, so will have to be productive soon. 😭

The weather seems to have improved, thankfully.

I’m starting to make notes for present buying etc.

As soon as my birthday is out of the way next month it will be all I can think about haha.

Morning!

Yipppeee for the 100's, although if someone said to me IRL out of the blue, how many days till Christmas I would still not be able to answer. Memory like a sieve.

Crap weather today but Friday is supposed to be a million degrees, apparently. I'm already worrying that I won't be able to sleep (can't anyway).

NoWordForFluffy · 10/06/2025 07:23

Morning!

You beat me to it, Magnolia. I was waiting until I was on the train!

It's started sunny here. It was meant to rain first thing, but it clearly rained itself out overnight again as it was very wet and very windy from late evening onwards yesterday.

I think we are meant to have improving weather this week too.

I have had an epiphany re sleeping, specifically in relation to bedding. On holiday it was too cold with the aircon on (and it was blowing directly onto DD), so I turned it off, meaning the room was really warm. However, we all had just sheets and I still didn't get over-hot like I did in a cooler room under a duvet. I hate just sheets, as I need something heavier on my shoulders, so I bought some flat sheets and bedspreads and it's revolutionary! Our rooms are rather warm as we're south-facing, plus we're new build, so stay warmer generally, and I'm not sweaty at all now. I'm sleeping far better for it. Picture of the bed attached!

ETA: TLDR - duvets, even low tog ones, are more sweaty than other bed coverings as they trap hot air!

I’ve been trying to convert DH to your bed set up for a while Fluffy, purely because I like the way it looks but he loves being wrapped up in a duvet and he correctly pointed out that in winter I do too.
Where did you get your bedspread from please? When I looked that were all very old fashioned and not my thing.

We have an agreement in this house that we don’t mention Christmas until the new school year starts in September but we both know I usually start planning while we’re on holiday jn August Xmas Grin

We have booked a little break for after Christmas this year (will be LOs first time flying) so will need to make sure we see everyone we need/want to before that.

My dm is clearly planning already though as she very firmly told me about a week ago that she wants the whole family to do matching PJs this year.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/06/2025 12:59

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces, it's from Dunelm, in the sale. We'll go back to the duvet in winter, I'd imagine. But for summer, this set up is ideal.

Have you looked at Next clearance for pyjamas? They usually have them on there all year.

OP posts:
Magnoliasunrise · 10/06/2025 13:23

Fluffy I think that bed idea is brilliant. DH also hates duvets as he gets too hot so will look into bedspreads.

Meeces exciting that you've already got a post xmas break planned. I need to do that to stave off the post Christmas blues.

Morning!

It's lovely here today; apparently 24° later! Then rain for the next two days. Good growing weather with the alternating rain and sun!

I'm tired as I slept badly. At least the dog only took me 5.5km today!

Have a good day!

KosyKat · 11/06/2025 09:04

Its looking like a nice day here also! Stocked up on antihistamines as my hay fever has been hitting me at full force lately.

I may have just booked myself onto a wreath making workshop in November.....

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 11/06/2025 10:16

I've re-opened my gift list app and started adding a few things I have already as well as ideas.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 12/06/2025 14:47

🎄196🎄
After melting (and drying 3 loads of washing) yesterday, it’s like winter here today. Dark, wet and cold.

LO did a longer day in nursery today so I spent a solid 4 hours cleaning and my house still isn’t finished 😳 But I lost the will to do more so gave myself a break and spent an hour cross stitching.
Am now sat in the car waiting for LO to finish. Will get them home and fed and maybe try and squeeze in another few housework bits before bath and bed. Maybe 😂

Thanks for the recommendations Fluffy. I hadn’t considered Next for PJs at all (I don’t really shop in Next so tend to forget they exist) 🙄

What app do you use Granny?

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 12/06/2025 17:26

It's just called Gift List @NoCheesesForUsMeeces

Chelsea Peers Festive Family Pyjamas Ladies - QVC UK

When they first had them there were mens/womens/children/babies/dog

They'll probably have similar this yea I wouldn't pay full price but if they're a TSV(Todays Special Value) the price will be good

God this weather is really strange. The car read 31 degrees yesterday and I felt like I just wanted to lie on the grass rather than go to work but then at about 9pm it poured down and now its all looking a bit grey. I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH IT.

I seem to have aquired a fox. Saw one in the garden a few months ago and chucked a bit of food out now its got to the stage where he's sitting on the lawn at 9pm every night tapping his watch. It's another thing on my list "feed the fox". He is cute though (or she).

Happy weekend everyone.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/06/2025 09:47

Magnolia we had one last Autumn , had the most pointy little face and yellow/amber eyes . If there are cubs they should be out and about soon. There's a couple of garages near me covered in ivy that they sit on top of .

We had lightning last night and rain this morning but hopefully now all clear .

NoWordForFluffy · 14/06/2025 10:01

Awwww, a 🦊 I love foxes! Used to have loads of urban foxes near my flat in Glasgow. They'd play on the bowling greens opposite!

You Londoners / Southerners have the Lancaster going over again later, for the King's birthday fly past. It's flying in from the east again, so should go over 70's way before getting to Magnolia!

We had awful rain and thunder overnight. It's still really clammy, and was rumbling earlier. But it's cleared up a bit now. It's not the best forecast, mind you. We're trying to get washing done and out, but we shall see how it goes!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/06/2025 23:39

Managed to spend some time in the garden today , just relaxing .
Need to get the parasol out to give shade , it's full on relentless glare where the patio area is ,

Doing a nice light lunch for DH tomorrow for Fathers Day ( roast veg couscous and salad ) and probably scrambled egg'n'toast for breakfast . DD is making pancakes for the rest of us .

New Day , now I;m off to bed Xmas Grin

Magnoliasunrise · 15/06/2025 13:51

I didn't see the Lancaster dammit. I didn't even realise it was Trooping the colour as I seemed to spend the whole of yesterday ferrying DC everywhere in between doing millions of washing.

Today is ironing. Deep joy. Does anyone else feel like they live in Groundhog Day?

NoWordForFluffy · 15/06/2025 14:34

Yep, Groundhog Day here every day too!

I need to clean the bathrooms but have zero motivation. Sigh!
