Evening!

I'm tired after today, but the buffet was a success. Tomorrow it's dinner!

Everyone seems to love their gifts, which is always good. 😊 Bed soon as it's all go again from the morning!

Oh God I've got no washing on the line <panic>

Its a good drying day too so I might just shove some in now 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 15/03/2025 11:00

Spot the odd one out! <peers at @Magnoliasunrise suspiciously>

Meeces, I used the mobile browser for MN. I'm staving off the ad blocker messages by hiding them with the 'hide distracting features' function on Safari. I just need the odd refresh every now and then.

Not sure I fancy the app. Unless the new one has more functionality, that is!

OP posts:
Magnoliasunrise · 15/03/2025 13:29

eeek its out now @NoWordForFluffy

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 15/03/2025 15:35

I've missed out on the great drying weather too as I was too late putting a wash on. Have been out for most of the day (LO rugby, ILs for a visit, home to get ready and now at a baby shower/meal at a nice Italian restaurant). Fingers crossed for a nice day tomorrow 🤞🏼

Fluffy I've always used the app as I found the website clunky so I don't mind it. The only issue for me so far is the same as the website - the ads are very sensitive so I've clicked on them by mistake a few times when trying to scroll.

And my washing is already in the machine so I won't be late today 😂

I also made a lasagne yesterday ready for this evenings meal so I'm feeling a bit Stepford wife this morning.

Its a beautiful day and I can see frost glittering on the garden table which means I probably was a bit early in my gungho pruning yesterday. Fingers crossed no damage done. DM said she read something about pruning roses on St Patricks Day which is tomorrow so I'll blame her!!

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 16/03/2025 07:51

Morning @Magnoliasunrise I've got washing in the machine as well. Had to be up at 6 this morning because DS has a Monopoly run challenge in London today so has to catch an early train.
We are already making electricity off the solar panels on the roof so I think spring is definitely here.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 16/03/2025 10:14

Morning! Yet another one who made sure to make use of a drying day. I set the washing machine to finish at 7:30 this morning and the load was on the line by 8.
DH was amazed and thought I’d set an alarm to put the wash on. Can you tell he doesn’t use the machine often and had no idea the delay setting existed? 😂

We’re meant to be visiting my dad today but he’s being a PITA by not confirming a time. If he doesn’t soon we’ll just give it a miss.

DH bought some raised flower bed/trough things in Aldi yesterday so I think we’re going to go flower shopping, then they’ll build them and I’ll do a few bits in the house. Just need to have a shower as we’ve had a very nice lazy morning with sausage sandwiches for breakfast and lots of playing with cars and reading Superworm 😊

NoWordForFluffy · 16/03/2025 10:42

Ahhhh, I love Superworm...'Superworm is super long; Superworm is super strong; See him wriggle, see him squirm; Hip hip hooray for Superworm!' Committed to memory! 🤣

If LO likes the bouncing rhythms of JD, they will love 'The Dinosaur who Pooped...' series by Tom Fletcher, as they're a similar style. (I also loved them!)

Our bedding is about to finish in the machine, so that's today's load. We did 3 yesterday, so only have the one today, thankfully!

It's lovely out again. Still chilly, but warming a little from yesterday.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/03/2025 11:10

I also have washing in the machine Xmas Grin
I put my Summer clothes in a bag so the laundry baskets look a bit more reasonable now (they'll get washed when I need them)

I have a vegetarian chilli in the Slow Cooker at the moment and we've just had hash brown, veg bacon and fried eggs ( DH and DD had eggs , I passed ) in rolls , which is a lovely Sunday lazy brunch.

Have a lovely Sunday

NoWordForFluffy · 16/03/2025 13:34

I lied! DH managed to locate a full load of darks, so the washer is on again! Admittedly, DD's Oodie is in there, so takes up loads of space.

Fluffy Superworm is a new addition here but I've heard, watched and read the Gruffalo enough for it to do my head in but I'm a bit afraid that "The witch had a cat and a very tall hat, and long ginger hair that she wore in a plait" from Room on the Broom is going to stick in my brain forever 😂

We have the Dinosaur pooped series but haven't started it yet. We're still at the picture and flap books and zero concentration stage here 🙄

70 I'm not a vegetarian but we try and go meat free for a few days each week. As a result DH makes a lovely veggie chilli - Will be a lovely tea for you.

I am also feeling very stepford wife here. While DH and LO were making the troughs I cleaned the kitchen, made enough pasta bake for lunches for tomorrow and Tuesday for all of us, made the marinade for the chicken for tomorrows tea, sliced up a lemon that was on the turn and chucked it in the freezer, made soup and juiced some oranges that DH was going to throw away because "they don't look the best and we have too many" 😱

Am now finally having some peace (DH is on bedtime duty)

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 16/03/2025 19:03

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces I still have the start of Tiddler stuck in my head and DS is 15!

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 16/03/2025 19:03

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces I still have the start of Tiddler stuck in my head and DS is 15!

I can still recite Each Peach Pear Plum and DD2 is 26 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't tell you what I had for dinner yesterday, mind...

I feel slightly better about having children’s book nonsense stuck in my brain after reading that it apparently happens to everyone 😂

Very up and down day here. Haven’t achieved anything but survived toddler group, several tantrums from tired and grumpy LO including one about me not understanding that “ham” repeated over and over meant they wanted a jam sandwich 🙄 and a walk along the river to collect sticks to put in the troughs.
I meant to do a wash but haven’t. Was also meant to Hoover but haven’t so will stick the eufy around when we go up for bath/bed.

Olus sides today are that we’re alive and fed. That will have to do. It’s been a long day!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/03/2025 18:37

And Max, the king of all wild things, was lonely and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all.”

When my DS was a baby , I remembered this book but couldn't remember the name .
My DBro and I went round bookshops , I quoted "The night Max wore his WolfSuit and made mischief of one kind or another* ( ad lib ) until someone twigged what I was rattling on about .
DS ( Max) was only 6 weeks old so I can blame hormones
He got his book
This was well before the film

NoWordForFluffy · 18/03/2025 07:28

Morning!

Meeces, the ham / jam thing made me smile. DD had hand signals for them (hands up to the ceiling!). The hands either facing forwards or backwards depending on which was wanted! (Ham was palms forwards, IIRC!)

Alive and fed is all that's needed. Anything on top of that is a win with little people!

I'm on the train to work. Blooming chilly again; cars were frozen. It's lovely and sunny though, so should hopefully warm up later.

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 18/03/2025 08:20

Morning everyone, I took one look at the weather today and put the towels in the washing machine. Rock and roll lifestyle, that's me 😂

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 19/03/2025 08:40

281

thank you Fluffy. I did feel awful when posting the other day as it really was a hard day.
The ham/jam thing was infuriating because at one point I said “oh jam? Do you want jam?” - and LO said no! 🙄

yesterday was another tired tantrums galore kind of day however, I managed to clear the wash basket (I’m as rock & roll as you Granny) and used the garden as a distraction. We planted some seeds, filled one trough, watered all the plants whether they needed or not, LO handed me pegs for hanging out the washing, we tidied some leaves and played with a bat and ball.

I also went out for tea with a friend and my god, the break was needed!

Hoping for a better day today as LO slept for almost 13 hours 😳

Magnoliasunrise · 19/03/2025 15:15

Hang on in there Meeces it does get easier. I remember taking DD to my DM's when she was about 18 months and DS was around 3 years and I was practically hallucinating from lack of sleep. DM gave DD the cutlery holder from the dishwasher and sat her on the floor with the cutlery tray and let her put the cutlery away and I was thinking oh my god knives but she absolutely loved it and occupied her for about 30 mins (there were no sharp knives obvs) but I thought what's the point in all these baby groups and educational toys and beating myself up about crap parenting when i just need to give her a bunch of spoons and a tray!!

So give yourself a break and let LO unload the dishwasher 😂

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 19/03/2025 18:59

We do a lot of the mundane house stuff together and it amazes me how interesting they find it.
favourites at the moment are handing me pairs of sock, taking the recycling out and carrying things to put in the microwave Confused Oh and pressing the buttons (with supervision obv) on the dishwasher and washing machine.

Today has been much better. No tantrums, just a nice day. Even managed a trip to Morrisons with the kid trolleys with no issues.
We bought daffodils and I set them up with a plastic jug of water, the flowers and the vase. That was a quiet 10 minutes!

LO now also has their own mini gardening kit which is causing a lot of entertainment, especially as I set up 3 plastic pots with various amounts of mud in. Messy but fun, with the highlight being them finding a worm and announcing “Duper-worm” and running in the house to get the Superworm book 😂

Plan for this evening is glass of wine/rum, crochet and a chill.
Hope everyone else has also had a nice day!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/03/2025 19:34

When my DS was little he loved nothing more than my Dad taking DD out and he spent time with me , cooking ( cakes , then you get the Raw Cake ) or gardening . He liked planting "Bobs" (bulbs) as they don't mind being planted upside down.

I have ordered my Mothers Day present from the DC ( 'cos I am decent like that ). I don;t drink or have flowers or candles (cats) don;t really want chocolate .
So ordered some of my favourite face cream , they can chip in £10 each Xmas Wink

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/03/2025 17:22

I had dentist and hygienist appointments earlier today so I'm feeling super clean in the choppers department.

It has been a lovely day here and more forecast for tomorrow so hopefully the laundry basket will be pretty empty by the weekend.

Magnoliasunrise · 21/03/2025 06:50

Morning!

I live under the Heathrow flight path so it's super quiet this morning. We get time off when they switch runways but it doesn't seem to have been switched for a while so this is nice although I really feel for all those people whose weekends have been messed up. What a nightmare. Hope they get something sorted.

70 and Woolly thank you for the reminders to a) buy myself a Mothers Day present and b) book our dental appointments.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/03/2025 09:43

I woke up to the news about Heathrow and the chaos that will unfold during the next hours .Not just the airport itself , it;s the surrounding areas .
Has your electricity supply been affected Magnolia ?

It's like the ash cloud about 20 odd years ago that caused widespread mayhem.

Magnoliasunrise · 21/03/2025 13:00

No, we're far enough away not to have any direct impact - just the side effect of no planes.
