Evening!

I'm tired after today, but the buffet was a success. Tomorrow it's dinner!

Everyone seems to love their gifts, which is always good. 😊 Bed soon as it's all go again from the morning!

Well, they're both called yellow, aren't they, as red is a variation of yellow, apparently. 🤷‍♀️ FluffyDog is yellow if you brush his fur backwards, as is his tufty arse!

Ours is Thunder. He lives up to that too! 🤣🤣

OP posts:
sunshineandrain82 · 23/02/2025 12:16

Yes. KC will always register as yellow as red doesn't exist in those terms. The vets etc register him as red.

We got him thinking yellow 🤣 he's getting darker with age

sunshineandrain82 · 23/02/2025 12:18

What's he like with thunder etc?

We like the thunder.
We sit at the window watching fireworks and lightening etc.

But we straight away got him use to them. Every time we hear/see we sit outside with him and when he doesn't react he gets a treat.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/02/2025 12:21

He's fine, actually. But we're opposite fields where there's an air cannon bird scarer going off all day for months on end in spring / summer, so he's used to bangs!

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 23/02/2025 20:53

Aw all the dog posts make me miss mine. He was teeny (mini JRT) and full of character but he was amazing. Also not bothered by rain, cold, thunder, fireworks etc. Also apparently unbothered by magpies who used to let themselves in the house and eat his dinner 🙄
He had great manners and used to fit in my lap perfectly - our routine was for me to sit in my spot and put the recliner back. This would be his cue to appear, get invited up, curl up on my lap. Then I'd put a blanket on and he'd pretty much stay there until bedtime, just poking his head out for a fuss every now and again 😂

Fluffy your dog is my DHs dream - I'm pretty sure we'll have one in the next couple of years.
Staffies are more my kind of dog but DH has wanted a lab since he was small.

Nothing Christmas related happening here but I'm feeling festive. Am crocheting patches in various stitches to make a blanket for LOs room which is helping, as is the dark, miserable weather Xmas Smile

Morning! Its soooooooooo wet and back to work YUK!! Hope it clears up so the kids don't have to stay inside at break. They'll really need a run around especially after having half term.

Loving all the DDdog pics and stories.

Ramona75 · 24/02/2025 18:36

My Christmas planning has started early, as I don’t mind it being dark outside and Christmas but not dark outside and nearly spring with only a summer holiday in August on the horizon! This etsy shop was a good stumble upon has some cool Christmas quizzes, as well as others. I’m now all set for the Christmas day get-together and with games and quiz session.

And Happy Rudolph Day Xmas Grin
In the spirit of Festive Planning , I am looking at Easter Eggs for DS and DD .
I have got bags , I can assemble their Easter Eggs Bags then find somewhere to hide them

Magnoliasunrise · 25/02/2025 18:53

Happy Rudolph Day too!!

I havent bought anything festive but did look at the spode christmas tree collection sale online and decided I didn't need any more crockery.

Remembered to get my watch strap fixed on the way home from work and the lovely man in the repair shop did it for free so I'll be taking him some chocs next time I go past.

Morning!

I'm on the way to Leicester with DS to have a bit of a trip. He didn't want to do his school residential, so the school authorised his absence to come away with me (as he's autistic, they agree it's reasonable for him to have an alternative trip). We're off to the Space Centre tomorrow and then across to Brum to go to the LEGO Discoveryland on Friday. Then we head home on Friday evening.

I've looked at the Spode Christmas crockery so many times, Magnolia. I've decided it's not worth forking out on though. I did buy more of our usual crockery last year though, so everyone had matching!

I have a couple of random Spode plates ( Christmas Tree ) for putting cakes on, I don;t think I;d buy a whole set . Don;t have the storage for a start . Xmas Grin

Magnoliasunrise · 27/02/2025 06:53

301 yikes nearly 200's

Fluffy your days out sound wonderful, I bet your DS is having a lovely time. Enjoy the space centre today!

Yes I've got the Christmas Tree range 70, sounds like we have the same plates. I've been buying bits for a few years now but only when its 50% off. I've got 4 plate, bowl and side plate sets as well for the Christmas period. I've got 2 high up shelves in utility room so they get parked there for the year.

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/02/2025 10:33

I've got a few Spode Christmas Tree bits. A large rectangular serving dish, the sweetie bowl on a stand and the cake slice and pastry fork set. If I had the room I probably would have bought the dinner set a few years ago but I don't think I'd get it now.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/02/2025 13:55

Afternoon!

We've had a fun morning at the space centre. Though the hoards of school kids on school trips frustrated DS!

I'm a couple of days late for Rudolph Day, but I bought rocket and astronaut tree decorations in the shop! Nothing says Christmas like space! Xmas Grin 🚀

It's a shame we're so far from Leicester, as your ticket lets you visit for a whole year.

I've just clicked on! You guys are posting something every day for a year 🧠 Wine😂

Can anyone post for a new day? Does it mainly have to be Christmas related?

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/02/2025 18:43

Usually the first person to post each day updates the countdown Ramona We talk about anything and everything - food, craft, gardening, pets, holidays, whatever. Christmas chat is ongoing and will definitely ramp up later in the year.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 27/02/2025 18:46

@Ramona75 yes anyone can do the daily countdown. It isn't always about Christmas at this time of year but it is mentioned if someone buys a present or sees something Christmas related we would all be interested in.

25th of each month is Rudolph Day to think about planning something Christmassey . Can be as much or as little as you like .

"Die Hard" is a Christmas Film ( I held a strong belief that it wasn't but my DH spluttered Whaaat?........Of Course it;s a Christmas Film. It's all on Christmas Eve and tuts at me like he cannot quite fathom his life choices in wives .

Elf on the Shelf is A Creepy Wee Fecker great fun but a lot of work and if you start it , your DC will expect The Elf every year.

Christmas Pyjamas and Christmas Bedding are not evil landfill. They get dragged out every year and re-used .

The Snowman LooRoll . Wiping your bum on The Snowman is the start of Christmas here .

Xmas Grin Xmas Wink Xmas Grin

Thanks for the info. Been doing Elf On The Shelf for my DDS for 5 straight years! I'm an expert now 😂🧝‍♀️

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 27/02/2025 21:22

Evening. We have MIL visiting for the first time since LO came. She's very excited but I feel like there's some overstepping going on so it's a bit tense 😬

I have some of the Christmas Spode collection (3 plates, 3 side plates, 3 dishes, 3 mugs, a few serving dishes and a gravy boat). Only other things I'd like now are some glasses.
I really like it but I haven't bought any of it - it's all been gifts for me from my mum Xmas Smile
I keep it in a box in the attic along with Christmas table cloth and tea towels - I consider it part of the decorations.

Sounds like you've had a fun day Fluffy!
I love the sound of your decs - just think how much your DS will like putting those decs on and remembering his trip. Xmas Smile

Ramona I agree with most of 70s post - but I'm in the "Die Hard isn't a Christmas film" camp. It's an unpopular opinion but I haven't been thrown off the thread for it yet Xmas Grin.

Only thing to add is that on this thread, whatever fuss you like to make for Christmas is good - nothing is too much. Whether you bake extravagant cakes and do a North Pole breakfast or throw a barely decorated tree up on 23rd Dec, every approach is celebrated here.

I'm not feeling Christmassy but I am plodding very very slowly on with the crochet blanket. I'm only on square 2 though so I'll be lucky if it's done by next winter!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/02/2025 07:15

<<Drumroll>>

And the Last Day of February

It is cold here but I am optimistic and have a load of towels in the wash, so if it stays dry , they can go out .

I have some recycling to drop off then buy DD her Friday Tradition Croissant .

Then it's a busy tidy up day (typical Friday )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/02/2025 07:17

Hope your MIL enjoyed her visit Meeces and lovely to meet the LO .

If MIL gets too much , count to 10 and eye up the patio for loose slabs . Xmas Wink

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 28/02/2025 10:12

Morning all!

Finally spring is on the way! Although I feel we've done OK with winter this year, not too much snow compared to other years.

The space museum sounds fab! There's a science museum in Seacombe on the Wirral that your ticket lasts a year as well. We've been many a time, make a lovely day out of it by travelling there and back on the ferry.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget I've got a wash in that im also hoping to put out on the line! Although i have just put the heating on for a sneaky boost!

Elf on the shelf.....I've done it for the last two years and to be honest i just do it for the one week before Xmas. It's worked OK and I've found it easy enough coming up with ideas for just one week rather than from 1st December. Our elf is a kind elf.

Today I will be giving the house a clean and tidy then onto a big food shop. I've really found the prices creeping up since January. I have also caught up on Sort Your Life Out this morning too, gives me some motivation to do a ruthless blitz of the house!! This week's episode they had 6000 items of clothing!!
