Evening!

I'm tired after today, but the buffet was a success. Tomorrow it's dinner!

Everyone seems to love their gifts, which is always good. 😊 Bed soon as it's all go again from the morning!

318 Afternoon! It's grey, wet, cold and miserable here, but I don't mind as I'm housebound this afternoon anyway. We are doing potty training attempt 1 (this is day 3) and it's hard going 😳

70 your bikini sounds sensible. My cousin showed me one she was considering a little while ago and it was more cut-out than material 😱

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 10/02/2025 13:35

Meeces It could be little one isn't ready yet especially with being in a new environment. I would give it up and try again in a few weeks if they don't crack it today.

Pouring with rain here. So fed up of grey days.

I bought a Christmas pudding from Morrisons last week which we had yesterday with custard. It was very yummy.

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 10/02/2025 22:26

Today was one of those days that made me feel like Christmas. I’m not sure whether it was the weather or what but I just had a Christmassy feeling.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 11/02/2025 09:14

317 Morning.

I think something clicked with LO yesterday so we're continuing with the potty training. I'm hating it though - it's unlocked a lot of curiosity in bums, poo, wee etc which is generally gross.

I love a random Christmassy day sam -
I usually get one or two in January then randomly in October, as soon as the weather starts to turn.

Nice but busy-ish day here as we're venturing out. Playgroup, out for lunch with my sister then swimming, home for tea and a social worker visit, then a video call with some of DHs family who live away - and once LO is in bed, I'll be sewing (I'm adding hooks to 3 coats of his so that I can hang them on our coat hooks) and looking into options for building a giant set of storage to put around our tv then probably collapsing into a zonked out heap 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 11/02/2025 19:04

Evening!

Another grey and cold day today. Seems like this is set to last for most of the week!

Small children bring with them the need to have so much storage! It's inversely proportional to their size!

Well done on powering through potty training, Meeces. I'm very glad those days are done, I can tell you!

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 12/02/2025 16:40

316 well today hasn't gone to plan at all. LO has been out of sorts all day, clingy, crying, refusing to eat and became hysterical when we parked at toddler group so we skipped it.
Haven't left the sofa all day - and they were sick half hour ago.
The upside of this is (as I'm choosing to see it) is that I've been able to enjoy a day cuddled up with a lovely LO who we've been waiting a very long time for.

Agree about the storage and potty training though Fluffy. Amazing how a toddler seems to have so much stuff - my house is full to bursting 😳

And lastly, on a Christmassy note, While we were on the sofa, LO asked for Grinch so we watched that this afternoon Xmas Smile

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 12/02/2025 17:26

So sorry you LO is poorly @NoCheesesForUsMeeces but sofa cuddles are the best and the time goes so fast. My LO is bigger than me now and not so into cuddles (unless ill)

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 12/02/2025 20:16

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces oh so sorry to hear your little one is poorly. Funnily enough though, my son asked to watch the Grinch last night in bed! Made me feel all christmassy again , snuggled up in bed, darkness and a hot milk each! He didn't actually like watching it over Christmas so I jumped at the chance last night when he asked!!
@GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick surely they're never too big or too old for a cuddle?! 😉

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/02/2025 20:36

Enjpy snuggling with the LO Meeces

DC are never too old , my 25yo sometimes gives me a hug to emphasise how much taller he is .
When he was little (about 2-3 yo) he was cuddling me then patted me in the back and said "I'm through hugging you now" (way to cut the the quick)
He still does the 'pat on the back' thing now , little git Xmas Grin

Sorry to hear LO was out of sorts yesterday Meeces but an afternoon on the sofa with cuddles and The Grinch sounds like the perfect antidote. Mine are also pretty much done with cuddles and I miss them 😕I sometimes try and its like hugging an ironing board.

I live in hope the cuddles will return though. I'm in my 50's and always give my mum big hugs when I visit.

Day off today so I'm going to make a big red Valentine flower arrangement.

Evening!

I hope your LO is better soon, Meeces.

It's set to be blooming freezing again overnight. I will definitely need layers for the dog run in the morning! Hopefully it won't be slippery again. If it is, we can do the avoiding slippery path route again!

Valentines Day (poor St Valentine met a gruesome end )

DH and I are going up to That Larndan today (not buying flashy jewellry though )

Magnoliasunrise · 15/02/2025 07:41

Half term yippeee!! Also means no sports fixtures so I don't need to move from the sofa ....... apart from to go to supermarket, gym, then do a MOUNTAIN of washing.

Was a lovely pink sunrise this morning.

Hope you had a nice shopping day 70.

Its a damp day today so I'm going to make a sausage and bean cassoulet or stew to give it a more sensible name. DH hopefully will make some nice bread in the machine to dunk in it.

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 15/02/2025 09:56

@Magnoliasunrise your sausage casserole with home made bread sounds delicious!!!

Sadly no lovely sunrise here this morning. Miserable foggy morning, it was raining as we came out of the hairdressers. DS had first appointment of the day, rather get it done early so we can come home and do whatever for the rest of the day! He's requested "a big bubbly bath" so I've got that running now whilst having a mumnset browse!

Not much planned this weekend as yes, it is half term so we have a busy monday-friday coming up. Take away for tea tonight i think then tomorrow will be visiting family then making a roast dinner.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/02/2025 10:31

You could call it "Sausage Surprise" like Jean Slater in Eastenders Magnolia Xmas Grin

We weren't shopping , we went to the Hunterian near Holborn , he was a Surgeon and this is his preserved collection -animals and human. Very interesting , not for the squeamish . Years ago I went to the Hunterian in Glasgow .
Not exactly a Hearts'n'Roses Valentines Day but my DH had looked online and asked 'do you want to go here ' , he planned a nice day out .
I made a vegetarian shepherd pie for dinner and triple cooked chips for DS ( he had chicken) . I need to show him how to make the chips , they're not difficult , just prep.

I have a load of washing on, then plan to dye my hair , do some more laundry -washing bedding .

NoWordForFluffy · 15/02/2025 12:42

We've been to Glasgow's Hunterian, 70. Bit bonkers and the kids loved it! 🤣

Miserable day here. Thankfully it held off til after the dog walk!

We're lazing round for now but need to get productive later. The kids are at the in-laws, so it's nice and peaceful.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/02/2025 12:43

Oh, we don't do anything for Valentines. We're not a romantic duo! 🤣

OP posts:
NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 16/02/2025 07:53

312 Morning!

LO is finally feeling better and is finally back is their own bed. I've watched more tv in the last few days than I have in a long time but it's included a few Christmas films (grinch, Arthur Christmas) and a fair bit of Sewing Bee while LO slept on me so it's not too bad.

Fluffy we generally do a card and a steak dinner for Valentine's Day but no chance this year.
I got DH a card - he didn't get me one and I'm not impressed. And our steak dinner was altered to a family friendly dinner at the local pub. It was fine but not romantic!

Your Valentines day sounds much more interesting 70

It's not half term until next week here so we're trying to make the most of our weekend and will be venturing out to the park later. I think we all need to stretch our legs.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/02/2025 12:28

Oh, that's poor form of your DH, Meeces, particularly with no agreement that the usual exchange of cards wasn't to happen, even if the meal had changed. Dog house for him!

I'm glad your LO is feeling better too. Life is much easier without an ill toddler!

It's blooming cold here today when the wind blows. It picked up during the dog walk, and I had to repeatedly tell the dog that I was finding it cold. 🥶🤣 (Reader, he cared not!)

We did 100 yards short of 5 miles today. I don't half lose the will at about 3.5 miles in. 😩 But he chooses the route and speed, so he chose his usual Sunday long route today (weird how he knows what day it is!). At least there were no football matches on the playing field we go across, as he had a scent he was following, across a couple of the pitches!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/02/2025 21:26

DD and I were out yesterday evening , it was bally freezing !
I haven't gone out today except to hang some washing on the line .

Some days you just want to otter about in the old Dressing Gown of Doom Xmas Grin

Monday again -they seem to come around more regularly than the Fridays ...

Magnoliasunrise · 17/02/2025 07:27

311

I'm in my dressing gown of doom 70, 😂

Definitely need to shift myself soon though, I have great plans to resilicone the shower today. I've even treated myself to a new caulking gun as my old one is very rusty and so hard to squeeze.

I've also got a hair appointment later - yuk, I'm not a fan of the hairdressers and I'm having highlights so could be some time. If I could take my head off and leave it there to be coloured while I got on with something else that would be ideal, like Worzel Gummidge.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 17/02/2025 10:34

Magnolia I'm sure there's an interview somewhere with Dolly Parton where she's asked how long it takes to do her hair and she answers "I wouldn't know, I'm not there. It's why I like wearing wigs" 😂

DH remains in the doghouse Fluffy. He's twinged his back injured which meant I did the wake ups last night and he's being a bit snappy today.
I'm going out for tea and cinema tonight and I'm looking forward to a bit of peace and freedom (even if I'm too tired to properly enjoy it).

Aside from that my plans are to do some washing, sort through my wardrobe and pile up my stuff to post on Vinted, pop to Sainsbury's and generally try and survive the day.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/02/2025 11:14

Morning!

Cold but sunny (now, it wasn't earlier) here today. Stiff breeze. Lots of washing on the line and more in the machine.

I'm off today and tomorrow, so am lounging round a bit. I've got lurking germs, so have a sore throat and I have a stye in my right eye. Thankfully my eye cream has just arrived from Boots, so that's been administered to try to solve it.

I had thought about painting the downstairs loo but, frankly, can't be arsed! Might just sit and cross stitch!

OP posts:
Magnoliasunrise · 17/02/2025 14:56

Meeces you're right about Dolly Parton, that always cracks me up, she's a funny lady.

Fluffy if your eye cream doesn't work try Golden Eye, it worked a treat for DS.
