Evening!

I'm tired after today, but the buffet was a success. Tomorrow it's dinner!

Everyone seems to love their gifts, which is always good. 😊 Bed soon as it's all go again from the morning!

I do sometimes send DH if I'm unwell / recovering from a op, but we divide and conquer usually, in that mornings are my responsibility and afternoons are his. Other than when I'm in the office and he does both! He doesn't run with him though. Poor doggy! 🤣

325 A very bleary eyed good morning. Typing this from the chair in LOs room after a middle of the night bed and pj change 😫😴

Weather has been freezing here and everyone in our house is fending off a sore throat/cough for the gazillionth time. Very annoying - mine is effecting my ear, LO is has a barking cough and DH has almost no voice his class think this is great

Love the wallpaper and paint choices Fluffy.
I still haven't painted our bathroom but am going to pop into B&Q and the range for paint colour cards when I have my eye test on Friday...

Magnoliasunrise · 03/02/2025 06:58

Hope you managed to get back to sleep Meeces, I don't miss those nights!!

@NoWordForFluffy do you do the wallpapering yourself and how easy is it?

Its still dark here which is nice as I like seeing the sun come up, makes a lovely start to a Monday.

Welcome @Rachey28 yes we are super organized about Christmas on this thread!!

NoWordForFluffy · 03/02/2025 07:16

Morning!

It's a gorgeous sunrise here today. It's just starting to come up as I get back with the dog.

Magnolia, DH wallpapers. He's getting more skilled at it now he's done it a fair bit here! He wasn't before now. I think how difficult it is depends on if you have to cut it to go round things!

I had way too much sleep on Saturday night, so then I couldn't get to sleep last night, which means I'm tired today!

I wallpapered for the first time ever a few months back and it went surprisingly well! Only our bedroom (so there's only us that see it if it went wrong!). Found it really satisfying as not having to do multiple coats of paint.
Living room will be done this year, prob mixture of paint and paper but feel a lot more confident that I can do an acceptable level of papering!

Lovely out today, feels like spring is on the way! (Although I've been saying this for a few weeks now whenever the sun peeps out!) Makes me feel so much more positive when the sun is out and more motivated!

Zoom this morning, just a bit of learning for myself around special needs. Then work later on. Scouse in the slow cooker ready for later! Local Asda had no pickled red cabbage so got to try find some today before work.

Hope everyone has lovely, bright day!

Morning!

You inspired me @Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho so just done chilli for the slow cooker now won't need to cook when I get home from work, apart from the rice. And I'm looking up scouse ( and wallpaper ).

New years resolution - to attempt some wallpapering.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/02/2025 07:42

Morning!

It's office day again, so I'm on the train. It was at least dry for my walk to the station. Rain (was) forecast later though.

Are you from Liverpool, @Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho? Or just a Scouse fan?!

OP posts:
Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 04/02/2025 09:13

@NoWordForFluffy I moved to Liverpool 13 years ago as DH is from here. Absolutely love it here! The people are so friendly, I remember when I first moved and was shocked at someone I didn't know making conversation with me at the supermarket. Everyone is so welcoming! And the public transport! The village i lived in, it was one bus an hour and it was never on time and regularly didn't show. I couldn't believe a bus stop at the top of my road with buses every 4 or so minutes!!!!

Glad I inspired you @Magnoliasunrise , how was your chilli?

I've found that im making myself be more productive in the mornings I'm not at work and it's working well. So wash in the machine whilst getting DS ready for school, that way it's out early. Get out of the house early to do the food shop or any jobs that need doing. Get the cleaning etc done. Feel more productive and don't feel as guilty having a sit down and a cuppa before school home time.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/02/2025 10:25

@Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho, I'm in Southport for the same reason! 17 years for me this year!

I'm in Liverpool today though in the office!

Love Southport! We regularly go for a day out. Son loves the miniature railway and the play park next to it.

There's so much to do in Southport! Although i was looking to go to Splashworld at the weekend and couldn't believe how expensive it is! 🙈

Pallindrome Xmas Grin
,
Bally freezing this morning , I am knackered and waiting for someone to bring me dinner .

We have booked our Christmas trip -so organised , it's only Feb

Magnoliasunrise · 05/02/2025 19:32

ooooh 70, where are you going on your Christmas trip?

The chilli was surprisingly nice after being in the slow cooker for 9 hours, thought it might have dried out a bit but it was good.

Amandaland starts today. I am soooooooooo excited.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 05/02/2025 20:22

I have finally stopped. No DH tonight so I've been on my own with LO all day while they STILL have the tail end of a cold. It's making them cwtchy though so I don't mind.

Have done washing load 1, toddler group, lunch, cleaned kitchen and bathrooms, walk, collected a parcel, garden inspection (LOs new favourite thing, mostly to check on our 1 solitary flower), playing, tea, washing load 2, more cleaning, bath, bed, boring online admin stuff. Doesn't seem like a lot really (and the house is still a mess) but I'm tired to my bones today.

Going to eat my tea and the cake I treated myself to then call it a night!

I have had some Christmas craft thoughts but no idea how I'd have the time. And I have a part-made Christmas crochet blanket that I need to finish Xmas Blush

Morning.

Brrrrrr, it's 🥶 and ❄️ out there. I took the dog on our shorter, non-slippery (in the main) route today which is mostly grass or dirt paths, as the bits of path we did go on were a bit dangerous!

Meeces, sounds like you're firmly in the domestic merry go round now. Tiring, isn't it?

Did everyone see the Consent or Pay thread in Site Stuff? If I suddenly vanish, it's because they've blocked my access as I use an ad blocker!

Morning

I saw that @NoWordForFluffy and I consented as I'm too mean to pay but it's counterproductive as I get "advertised" and end up buying something from the sidebar that I don't need.

Had a day off yesterday and made marmalade. I forgot what a massive pain in the arse it is and it took almost the whole day. I've got 19 jars though 😂Some will be saved for the school Christmas Fair.

Ted Rogers Day Xmas Grin

@NoWordForFluffy has a picture ...( probably several Xmas Wink )

NoWordForFluffy · 07/02/2025 08:00

I do! Xmas Grin

But pictures are banned right now. Xmas Sad

So here's a link to

AIBU to worry that when I said "It's Ted Rogers Day" to my DD (22) she thought "Ted BUNDY " ?

They are Not.The.Same. dearest daughter Xmas Shock

( Though DD was really excited to go the the Serial Killers Exhibition last year for our Festive London Day Out )

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 07/02/2025 15:43

Afternoon. It's bloody freezing here - I literally came back in and added a layer for the nursery run today it was that bitter 🥶

Domestic merry go round is a great description Fluffy. I can essentially do loops around the downstairs of my house and that's what it feels like I spend my days doing, carrying things from one room to another constantly, stopping just to take rubbish out/load dishwasher or washing machine and cook 🙄 And yes, it's exhausting!

A Serial Killers Exhibition sounds like an interesting day out 70 - I'd be excited to go too!

Hate the consent or pay proposal from MN and won't be surprised if lots of posters leave tbh.

We had hailstones yesterday Xmas Shock ....well it IS February , so goes with the territory .
DD is taste testing Hot Cross Buns - Sainsbury Taste the Difference last week and Bakery this week

NoWordForFluffy · 08/02/2025 15:04

We had hail during the week too. Weds, maybe. The washing was out, anyway!

It's still bloody cold today, though not freezing like the last two days. Rather grey and uninspiring, however.

Tesco had some nice St Clement's and apple and sultana hot cross buns. I've not tried Sainsbury's ones yet.

Into the three hundred and teens now .

I am busily looking at Nice Clothes for holidays . I don;t know what I want exactly but I need to make sure I can mix'n'match outfits to get the maximum wear (and avoid taking a load of things that won't get worn)
DH can wear a suit and tie .....I need a selection of Nice Frocks .

DD kept showing me bikinis , I was "No , I already have a swimsuit and a bikini , that's ample" . Cannot remember the last time I wore one so I;ll need to check they fit (and haven;t disintigrated Xmas Shock )

Magnoliasunrise · 09/02/2025 08:11

Jealous of your swimwear planning 70, as I look out onto the damp drizzly garden. Must book somewhere so I have something to look forward to.

I'm watching the squirrel eat the bird food out of the squirrel proof bird feeder. I was also watching a robin thinking how cute it was when I realised its just a leaf. Must go to specsavers!!

Off to friends house for lunch today, I don't care what they serve I just love not having to cook!!

You're right about the domestic drudgery Fluffy and Meeces. I honestly sometimes think I'm living in Groundhog Day. At least we have washing machines though - can you imagine washing everything by hand and using mangles or whatever. Yikes!

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 09/02/2025 19:42

Wearing a bikini is brave 70, especially some of the ones that are in fashion now 😱

We've had a stressful weekend here with a leaky pipe, emergency dentist appointment (me), and a fall with accompanying shoulder injury (DH).

A holiday sounds so nice right now! Instead I'm settling for a quiet evening watching crime stuff on tv and an early night.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/02/2025 19:46

Ooh you've had a load of stress Meeces hopefully it is sorted out .

Bikini is an M&S decent one/tankini style , and for lounging about in if it is warm enough ( I'm not a swimmer but I might use the spa on holiday )
I'll use my sarong with it , actually I;ll need to buy a cover up / kimono
