Did anyone get a disappointing or thoughtless gift from their dp/dh? We’re you happy with what you got?

looking for good and bad stories to make me feel better (and less ungrateful) 😬

TBF we have been together less than a year but I expected a thoughtful gift, I now feel stupid for buying him thoughtful gifts and spending double what he spent on me. Of course I don’t want to sound ungrateful so I have come on here to moan quietly and see if anyone else wanted to join me. Also wanting to see what amazing things you all got from your other half.

We both knew what our main presents from each other were as we've been together a long time and we're both really hard to buy for but we get each other a little surprise as well and honestly it's the most thoughtful thing! I've developed Raynauds and he got me rechargeable hand warmers! Kids are young adults and they put a lot of thought into our presents as well, it was lovely undoing the tree yesterday

Definitely on more modest budgets here! DH got me a couple of books I wanted, a lovely necklace and matching earrings from Oliver Bonas, and a stocking with various chocolate treats plus some cute cat post-it notes. He’s always very thoughtful about presents.

I got him a couple of books he wanted, an IOU to knit him some socks, and bought him some protective gloves for his hobby, plus a stocking with chocolate treats. Fairly low-key but we’re both happy 😊

Lego, snuggly socks, candles, perfume. Very happy!

We have been together 30yrs. He finds it very difficult to choose gifts so it can be an adventure…this year I got a very thoughtful book about the place we got married, perfume, some gin, an antique jug I love, and a weeks residency course on my hobby which I’m really pleased with. I’d have been pleased with socks tbh.
our family has been through rough times but this has been a good year, and we are both thankful to be with our kids in our festive house sharing lovely food and appreciating this moment before life speeds up for everyone again.

Really happy- DH always try’s hard but has missed the marks a few times but this year he got me tickets to a comedian I’ve really wanted to see, some lovely gin glasses, a replacement watch strap and some novelty Christmas earrings. Loved them all!

Walking poles...exactly what I wanted as I love walking but my knees hate going downhill.
A perfume that was discontinued but has been relaunched. I'm really pleased as it's my favourite.
A uv nail lamp for me to do my own nails..MIL was chuffed with thar lol.
Day spa voucher...shall look forward to that in the dull months ahead

DP and I have been together six months and honestly this is the first Christmas in my 38 years I’ve felt really known and cared for.

pjs I pointed out in a supermarket, stocking full of all my favourite snacks, large box of tatti lashes, my favourite perfume and a flat lay make up bag I’ve wanted forever but not got around to buying.

He got a soda stream, matching pyjamas for us both, fleecy bedding, print of him and his daughter , aftershave sampler and an advent calendar I’d made him of his favourite energy drinks.

I got a 2 week holiday for next year to Japan /.Korea and my usual Dyptique candle and a spa day for 2. He also got me chain with a locket with a lock of hair from my our stillborn earlier this year. We had a little cry but managed to have a lovely day.

I've just been given a screen shot of a ring SH has had made. It won't be here until Feb but it's to replace my engagement ring as I've lost so much weight I can't wear it anymore

Dh got me a few watercolour sets because he knew I was using a cheap poor quality set to practice with. He had initially got me one then panicked that it wasn't right so bought me another as well. He got me some really good quality brushes and paper as well. For about 10 years I've been complaining about how my hair straighteners rip out my hair when I use them and saying that I must replace them, he finally replaced them for me.

I've got some kind of horrible cold at the minute so havent had the energy to try anything out yet but I'm really happy with what he got me, I'm looking forward to feeling better and trying them out.

My DP is absolutely shit at choosing presents for me. So much so that I mostly buy my own these days and just tell him, 'this is what you're getting me' because I can't face the disappointment. I'm not even hard to buy for!!!! He's just clueless. But he has many other good qualities that absolve him of his lack of gifting talent 😆

I was so delighted and grateful for what he'd bought for me, he got me a necklace engraved with ours and our son's names and our three birthstones, also he'd picked out a pair of trainers which I'd been wanting for ages, he also blew up and framed a photo of the four of us (me and my partner with our son and dog), and he got me a football top for the team we support with my name on the back! He'd even got it in large so that I can wear it throughout my pregnancy 😂 as well as a hoodie and joggers that he knew I needed and he filled my stocking with some lovely things. I appreciate that I am incredibly lucky
