Clean the downstairs loo.
Wrap about 5 more presents.

Think that is about it until tomorrow evening when the fun begins

Dymaxion · 23/12/2024 21:19

@greengreyblue Which Tiramisu recipe are you using ?

Sodullincomparison · 23/12/2024 21:31

just had a crazy two hours of cleaning so feel a little more ready than before.

tomorrow before picking up my mum at 10am

*Clean my car to ferry everyone around.

*spare bedroom hoover and change bedding for parents in law.

*clean upstairs bathrooms

*buy ice, baguette and Gaviscon

not forgetting to peel DD6 off the wall, get her clean in the bath and calm and ready for bed.

Then feed everyone, clean, listen to the same stories on repeat for 48 hours.

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 22:06

I can't till Christmas is over to be honest.

It's been a long three months!

One religious holiday shouldn't take up three entire moths of the year.

Binfire · 23/12/2024 22:09

Just the stocking presents to wrap in tissue paper and stockings to fill.

Food wise tomorrow I will do a few bits to get ahead, make the nut roast, par-boil the potatoes and get the sausages out of the freezer for pigs in blankets.

I’ll also need to mop the floors and give the toilets a quick clean, replace towels etc before guests arrive.

Bugger I just realised I also need to go to the cash point for cash gifts for teenage nieces and nephews, damn.

I’m sure there’s plenty more I’ve forgotten!

WilfredsPies · 23/12/2024 22:13

WhitegreeNcandle · 23/12/2024 19:14

Remember to get everything out of the freezer

Wrap a couple of presents

clean the silver

lots of food prep tomorrow

You’ve just saved our Christmas Eve dinner and pigs in blankets with the reminder to take stuff out of the freezer, so thank you very much! 🤦‍♀️

DH has to make stuffing and turn defrosted chipolatas into pigs, make sausage rolls and cheese straws, clean and tidy the kitchen and take my mum’s food shopping down to her. While he’s doing that, I’ll be wrapping 172 presents (all the awkwardly shaped ones he didn’t want to do) and then doing a general clean and tidy. I did intend to have it all done by now, but work has been a bit mad for both of us, and we’ve had the lurgy, so just couldn’t be bothered.

mathanxiety · 23/12/2024 23:02

Shop for potatoes, parsnips, and roast beef. I need one large gift bag too.

Pick up two DDs from different airports, one tonight, one tomorrow morning.

Move two big plastic storage boxes out of the kitchen. Where to, I don't know yet.

Just got a text from DD who is at home baking cookies that we're running low on flour.

I'm at work all day today, so I'm keeping a running list for a supermarket foray this evening on my way home before I head to the airport.

Everything else is done.

mathanxiety · 23/12/2024 23:06

Also, cookie-baking DD and I will make a pecan pie, a pumpkin pie, and tiramisu tomorrow. They're all quick to make.

goingdownfighting · 23/12/2024 23:18

Get as much bedding and towels ready as possible for the visitors. ✔️

Get stocking stuff from around the house once kids are asleep. Doing it now

Clean bathroom✔️

Clean kitchen and cook dinner - before work tomorrow will wake up early

Hoover upstairs delegated

Laundry✔️

I'm working tomorrow. Emergency healthcare.

Not only am I running round like a blue arsed fly, half the people coming don't even like me.

caringcarer · 23/12/2024 23:41

The same as always wrapping gifts. Every year I leave it until the last minute. I've done about half today. I'll have to do the rest tomorrow. DH can't help because he's cleaning the house and sorting out 2 bedrooms for when my sister and niece come on 27th. Tomorrow he said he's cleaning the carpets, mirrors in wardrobe doors and even intending to give a fresh coat of paint over walls. There is not much wall as one wall is completely slider robes with mirror doors, another wall has a large window out of it. Making up beds. Then he's cleaning up kitchen and prepping some veg and making his vegetarian lentil loaf to take with us for Xmas day at adult DS house. At least we don't have to go out before Xmas day. We have all the Xmas shop and all gifts bought.

DrunkenKoala · 24/12/2024 00:54

DP is doing a tip run in the morning to get rid of all the Amazon boxes etc. I'll finish tidying up the living room and give kitchen a quick clean.

In the afternoon we'll build the gingerbread house and prep the veg.

Wrap one more present (arriving tomorrow).

HelenWheels · 24/12/2024 05:27

still got to wrap
buy wine glasses after a couple of breakages yesterday Blush
buy salad,
brandy for the pudding
cook the ham

Snowangles · 24/12/2024 07:27

Finish tidying up, clean fridge put decorating boxes away, collect order

Out of interest when do you eat the sausage rolls? Boxing Day?

Why has it taken over 3 months? I started getting ready in December. Try that next year.

unconditionalpurelove · 24/12/2024 08:26

Shit loads of wrapping 🫣

LoudPlumDog · 24/12/2024 08:27

It’s nearly 4:30pm here on Christmas Eve.

Because we buried our 21 year old daughter 6 weeks ago, today at 6pm, I invited her friends and family to join me at her resting place to come together again as we remember our beloved girl this Christmas.
It will be a quiet time to reflect and comfort each other at this difficult time.

merrymelodies · 24/12/2024 08:32

Everything. DD was very ill yesterday and tomorrow I'm up early to take her to the GP. I still have the house to tidy, clean and hoover, the gifts to wrap and the Xmas day dinner to prepare. 😭

DDs decided to put all of their bedding and fleece throws on the stairs to be washed. The washing basket and airer are already full.

Clean the sofa and kitchen.

Go to Costco for desserts 😬😬😬😬
