Need to prep for ds birthday tomorrow. So need to decorate the Christmas tree with birthday banners, blow up the balloons, get the presents ready etc. Everything else is sorted and if it isn't sorted it's not happening.

HansHolbein · 23/12/2024 20:20

Couple of presents to wrap
Last minute hoover & clean bathrooms
Polish silver cutlery

I think that’s it? Every year I get so worried that I’ve forgotten something. It is what it is now I guess 🤷‍♀️

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2024 20:21

I need to ; tomorrow

Take DH to work tomorrow
Suoermarket shop for last minute things
Bake Brownies
Wash DDs bedding
Collect DH from work
Christmas Eve lunch
Vacuum
Jostle DS or DD to clean the kitchen worktops

Tonight -
put loads of clothes away that I washed after we came back from holiday last week.It involves piling clothes into laundry baskets and saying "this is yours" to DS and DD .

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 23/12/2024 20:21

Get my last nightshift out the way, will nip into Tesco before it for a couple of bits I didn't get today.

Will go into M&S after nightshift to pick up a couple of last minute gifts for my partner, bread and a bag of ice and that's me done and ready for a quiet Christmas just the two of us, with copious amounts of food and drink to get through over the next few days. Already changed bedsheets, cleaned, washing done. Can't wait.

Funfuninthesunsun · 23/12/2024 20:23

Did the last bits of shopping today so tomorrow need to collect Christmas cake & dessert from local bakery, Hoover, give the bathrooms a quick clean, do veg prep and make the nut roast, and put a bike together (will get DH to do that though!)

Doyouthinktheyknow · 23/12/2024 20:23

I am working all day then I have to pack to go to family Christmas Day morning, for one night only.

DH is tasked with making potato salad, ds2 some cheese and Parma ham straws while I work!

mnahmnah · 23/12/2024 20:24

Nothing. I think. Got that feeling I have forgotten something though…

EmpressoftheMundane · 23/12/2024 20:25

Wrapping, prep breakfast casserole, tidy up, wash table cloth.

Dyra · 23/12/2024 20:27

Few presents for DH's family to wrap. I love wrapping presents (Yes I might actually be insane), before anyone asks why DH isn't wrapping them. We're not seeing them until the 30th though, so isn't vital to have done tonight/tomorrow.

Tidy my living room. It's been 3 days in the making. Floor has been spotted here and there, but the gremlins (DD5 and DS2) are doing their utmost to cover it all back up.

Laundry. My nemesis. I hate it so much. But from Boxing day until 6th January we're only home for a grand total of 2 days. One of which I'm working. I need as many clean clothes as I can muster.

And.... That's about it. Everything needed for Christmas dinner is already in the fridge. If whatever came out of the freezer this morning isn't defrosted by tomorrow afternoon, I'll get it out over the evening. Reassess Christmas morning after the presents are done (see ages of gremlins to have a general idea of what time I will be awake Christmas morning).

greengreyblue · 23/12/2024 20:28

Just got to make cranberry sauce, bread sauce and a tiramisu tomorrow.

Alittlebitfluffy · 23/12/2024 20:28

Clean and tidy EVERYTHING

BotterMon · 23/12/2024 20:31

Clean downstairs including washing floors 3x (have dogs so with recent weather they're hoovered but dirty); meal timing plan (one year I forgot to serve the potatoes); lay table and prep as much of the meal I can then out tomorrow night to celebrate with DD and her family as DH isn't British so does Christmas on 24/12 evening before having the Brits here on 25th. Will be panicking tomorrow!

MamaWeasel · 23/12/2024 20:34

Tonight we picked up the last few random bits from Asda, straight in, round, and out within 15 mins with self scan. Cucumber, eggs, flour and a part baked baguette.

Tomorrow.....I will attempt to tidy up while dh cooks gammon and prods the leg of lamb to make sure it's defrosted in time for Wednesday.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 23/12/2024 20:36

Everything is done except for the actual Christmas dinner prep. House is spotless, kids are long asleep, food in fridge, presents wrapped, stockings just need filling from cupboard.

Tomorrow will be a long run, a walk with kids and friends, a nativity at church at 4pm then start the Christmas Eve festivities.

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 20:39

Is anyone else not celebrating Christmas.

I'm not.

Plenty, I’m sure. But they wouldn’t normally respond to a thread asking what you have left to do before Christmas.

rc22 · 23/12/2024 20:45

Tomorrow:

Pick up turkey and order something for new year meal at the butchers (although DH will probably do that)
Make up spare room for my brother who is staying here Xmas night
Hoover through the house
Prep veg for Xmas Dinner
A couple of presents to wrap

InSpainTheRain · 23/12/2024 20:47

Pick up our M&S food order on Christmas eve morning.
Somehow put everything in the fridge.
Chill.

EdithStourton · 23/12/2024 20:48

Last minute hoover (to be delegated)
Do last minute shop and collect our meat order
Cook gammon
Make stuffing
Make pigs in blankets
Go to a carol service (I'll be driving, we will be a very jolly car load)
Come home and persuade DH to make mulled wine

I read something today which said that Christmas is like a part-time job from early November onwards, and this is not far from the truth!

In my opinion, christmas is total overkill

There shouldn't be three months of hype leading up to it.

It's getting out of hanf

Thechristmaspolarbear · 23/12/2024 20:51

Still to make chocolate chip cookies. Usually shop buy but promised kids we would make from scratch this year. Any simple recipes anyone would have to share please? 🍪

Get as much bedding and towels ready as possible for the visitors.

Get stocking stuff from around the house once kids are asleep.

Clean bathroom

Clean kitchen

Hoover upstairs

Laundry

I'm working tomorrow. Emergency healthcare.

Shit I need to carry on.

Hope you still get to enjoy a belated Christmas! 🙌🏻 🎄🎅

Mashroom · 23/12/2024 20:53

organised this year thank god. I am going to go around now with a mop and hoover - it’s fine but just a freshen up

all is wrapped and most gifts and cards sent out. I have to dig out the Santa presents from garage and the car boots

I will peel potatoes tomorrow and steep in cold water. Visit in law and go to mass (I also have a funeral to attend tomorrow)

Oh how sad on Christmas Eve.

Dutchhouse14 · 23/12/2024 21:01

Just finished wrapping, DH is finishing the ironing.
I'm going to do some cleaning tomorrow then hopefully by midday and can relax!
