Your contents insurance should cover you for lost food. Check your policy.

Annoyingly I didn't check my excess when I renewed it and it's ยฃ200 so not worth claiming

Oh @fivebyfivebuffyI am sorry, thatโ€™s awful. Itโ€™s the loss of the โ€œspecial foodโ€ at this particular time isnโ€™t it, as well as the costs for an appliance. Lots of empathy here as itโ€™s happened to us in the past and I remember crying over it! We have a big family so big freezer and had literally just been to Costco. These things always have bad timing. We still have an old box freezer as well as the integrated freezer in fridge freezer, and I split the festive food between the two freezers in anticipation of one breaking, even though it was years ago.

I hope the finance wasnโ€™t too extortionate, or you got a good sale price at least. Did Shady (and Paws!) get to eat anything that had defrosted?

@FestiveFridge2024 they got some ham and cheese! It was upsetting to bin everything but it was warm and I'm immunocompromised
I think about ยฃ200 worth of food
