Is anyone finished with present shopping?

No shame on anyone who isn't. After all I've only bought for DH, DD(22), her hamster and rats and our 2 house panther.
I am just happy to be finished especially as my arthritis can lead to periods of me being incapable of planning due to heavy painkillers. I can relax knowing at least Christmas is sorted. Except food but DH & DD are perfectly able of taking on this task entirely.
Just wondering if anyone finishes early.
Or finishes late. No judgement. Just curious.
Let's keep this kind. Let's stay respectful of others lifestyle and preferences.

I am as I spread it out over a few months to make it more affordable. Got last few bits in the black Friday sale

Ted27 · 03/12/2024 19:42

Yes, finished shopping in shops yesterday, one more thing to get online tonight and I'm done

marthaisintheway · 03/12/2024 19:43

Meeeee!
To be fair I hardly have any to buy as kids grown up etc. DH and I can't be bothered to buy for each other as don't want or need anything.

Lifestooshort71 · 03/12/2024 19:43

I've not only finished but they're wrapped up and cards done ready to post.

StrawberryWater · 03/12/2024 19:43

Finished except for a few books for dh.

WinterCrow · 03/12/2024 19:49

and our 2 house panther

I'm trying to guess what the typo is but give up

stargazer02 · 03/12/2024 19:50

Haven't started.
I only have to buy for my kids plus token gifts for my parents as we don't really "do" gifts between adults. Noone needs anything. In fact noone, even the 2 primary age kids, have anything in mind that they want. Not sure if that makes it easier or harder!

dijonketchup · 03/12/2024 19:53

😂 can we organise some kind of hand hold thread where those who are finished, done and dusted get paired with a ‘late starter’ to offer encouragement, practical advice and a sense of perspective as December rolls on…

polkadotclip · 03/12/2024 19:54

I bought a couple of things today, as it's December now, but it still feels ridiculously early. I don't have to produce presents in advance or send away or anything so plenty of time.

Styles96 · 03/12/2024 19:56

I am finished and all presents wrapped etc!

I buy throughout the year as I find you get better deals and it helps me budget x

Idontevenknowmyname · 03/12/2024 19:59

I have. Partly because I want to spread the cost a bit, but also because I hate having to crowd into shops with everyone coughing and spluttering, delivery companies seem to struggle as we get into December, and I work weekends so only have 1 proper day off before the big day now. I know dh finds it hilarious, he is very last minute, but if the kids want a specific thing then god help him if he failed!

Its a nice feeling, knowing that bit of stress is dealt with.

HippoStraw · 03/12/2024 20:03

Barely begun! I do save the money over the previous months though, to spread the cost.

PrincessPeache · 03/12/2024 20:05

I’m popping to home bargains in the morning to get a few low-effort presents for a handful of people and then I’m done. It’s really just my DS that I buy for. Me and DP aren’t doing big presents this year but I’ve done him a stocking (few more bits from HB tomorrow to add to that!) and I’ve bought for my scouting team this year. Need to grab something for DS’s birth mum tomorrow, and something for my mum, then I’m done.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 03/12/2024 20:07

I'm pretty much done. My problem is I'll be done in October-ish (Christmas is basically my year round hobby 😂) and then I'll find more people to buy for, or extra gifts for people I've already brought stuff for!

But in theory, I'm done. Nothing is wrapped yet, think I'll start that this weekend.

I8toys · 03/12/2024 20:09

I think I'm nearly there. Last christmas was horrendous and so stressful - husband having radiotherapy and moving in laws with dementia from their junk filled house into assisted living. I just want to block it from my mind - it ruined christmas for the whole family.

I am looking forward to having my boys back from uni and husband wanted to get away so we're off to Malta for a few days before christmas so I need to be wrapped and sorted before we go.

Just got to get a few more little things and make crackers and go into work to give out pressies and I can relax a bit.

Tinaforshort · 03/12/2024 20:15

Yes, I’m done apart from some guitar strings for DD’s stocking. I’m blessed with more than one chronic illness and have spent lots of time in hospital over the years and can be quite unwell so I have learned to buy throughout the year so I don’t get caught out. The DC are both teens now so that makes it a lot easier and then we only buy for our nephews and the grandparents. I’m just waiting for DH to wrap it all, at the end of the week beginning of next. We work it here that I buy the gifts he wraps everyone’s happy!

candlerhyme · 03/12/2024 20:18

I haven't even started yet. I am resolved not to add to the landfill crisis so everyone will be getting non material gifts. Ie restaurant vouchers etc. This can be done in one evening on my laptop. Wine will be involved.

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 03/12/2024 20:19

Almost. I thought I was finished but the track pants I bought for DS arrived yesterday and are too small, so I need to swap them.

I'm sure you'll be perfectly respectable, but I read this and immediately wondered what the last vouchers (when you've had the most drinks!) will look like. Imagining non-refundable, dated reservations for a restaurant in rural Iceland for your great aunt who's never left the UK, Steakhouses for the vegans (and vegan restaurants for the carnivores), that weird, dark naked restaurant for a godparent....

Lifestooshort71 · 03/12/2024 19:43

I've not only finished but they're wrapped up and cards done ready to post.

This is where I longed to be. But sadly not. I started strong but it's all gone a bit wrong for no real reason!

MissyB1 · 03/12/2024 21:32

I still have a few to get, two sisters to buy for, and I've got nothing for dh yet! Oh and the God daughter, better not forget her! Going to M&S tomorrow, will hopefully get most of it there.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 03/12/2024 21:33

All the big stuff. I just need to get an extra secret Santa gift for DH as the kids have decided they want to do it this year. I’ve actually already bought his gifts but now need to find him something extra. I can’t just use one of the gifts I’ve already bought as they dont follow the “criteria” the kids have decided on.

I also need to get one of DDs presents but that involves taking her to the shops for the right size, so we’ve agreed on shopping after Christmas.

I have deliberately not bought any of the sweet/chocolate stocking fillers as I eat them every year so I’m holding off as long as possible to buy these.

But other than that I’m done, I’ve even got half the wrapping done.

Nanny31 · 03/12/2024 21:36

Not even started ! Hoping to get my act together this week 😂

It should read house Panthers plural but to clarify a house panther is a term used for black cats. I should have remembered that a lot of people are unaware of this.

ElvenElf · 03/12/2024 21:39

I've done more than usual. Kids sorted including nieces and nephews. Parents sorted so that only leaves DH and food shopping to do and I've started that
