There is absolutely no point getting him anything, because whatever he wants, he buys for himself.

I only got these items because I was out, saw them and thought they were nice.

He is ludicrously hard to buy for. I wish he'd take up some equipment-heavy hobby like carpentry.

A new work bag exactly the same as his totally decrepit current one.
Some painting gear from his permanent wishlist of items from the Warhammer shop.
And I'm going to have his old going out to play d&d bag repaired for him at the leather shop in the next town over.

Pair of shoes he chose himself. That’s it. Once presents from adult children and wider family are under the tree, I’ll look at how much he’s got and if it’s a lot less than everyone else, I’ll get him some extras but that’ll just be beer, chocolate, that sort of thing.

We tend to only get each other one present but I often get more from friends and other family, so I try to balance it out a bit.

A surprise night away in a nice hotel with dinner and wine included.

Bottle of hibiki whisky (surprise, but a favourite) and a shirt he picked red from white stiff. Then some books, some choc/nibbles treats from the kids, a cafetiere cosy, a whisky dropper. So hopefully mostly surprises.

A new Oakley backpack for work as his old one is looking scruffy. It was actually DS’s old school bag that he nicked when he started a new job and is still using 2 years later! And it’s camo print which isn’t very grown up. This one is a blueish grey and will suit him more.
A Lego Kawasaki Ninja (he has to have Lego for Christmas).
2 shirts.
I’ll probably get him some sort of chocolate but I don’t know what.
