This is a really long shot but I've seen success twice this week with posters coming together to help find something. Encouraged to do so here is my appeal.

In 2003 I bought a soft toy Piglet from Adam's. Does anyone remember that shop? It soon became clear DD loved him so I bought a second one. She lost them both in the same week and even though I rushed back to where she had dropped one, he'd already gone. It was the first time she'd taken him out and that must have been 2006.

I found one with the right legs but wrong ears and another with the right ears but wrong legs. I bought the latter and left him on the stairs for her to find when we got back from play school. I said Oh, DD look who has come home! She looked at him, looked at me and said That's not my Piglet. She hadn't even picked him up.

DD was in a fire this year and we very nearly lost her so I think it would be a lovely little blast from the past if I could get her another one. Thank you to anyone who has any ideas. I did contact Adam's and they wouldn't tell me where they got him from and I don't remember any information on the label. The photo is the best I've got at the moment.

I will try eBay now. I did try and long time ago but certainly worth another look. Thank you.

@JawsCushion nothing worse than when they lose their special stuff

JawsCushion · 28/11/2024 07:17

I know. I thought I'd been clever buying two but I hadn't realised she'd hidden him under her coat.

Will she still notice the small differences all these years on? Or perhaps you could get the ones with the right legs and wrong ears as well as the wrong legs and right ears and sew them together?

JawsCushion · 28/11/2024 07:47

I did buy both at the time and thought about an operation but couldn't bear to cut him up. If it wasn't the exact one she'd know. There are lots on vinted so I'm scrolling through. I've messaged about one to see what shop it was from but I'm not certain it was right. She does have one but she should have had two and I would like to get it for her.

I'm sorry your young adult daughter has had a hard time, but you want to get her a toy she had briefly 20 years ago? Really? Confused

Icedlatteplease · 28/11/2024 08:08

I hate to say it but... if she's managing without DONT DO IT!!

DD had a beloved toy. But about tenish (yes the toy was still going strong as a beloved companion) it was in a poor state with a noxious wiff (it was going nowhere near water just incase) and DD decided it needed to go on a shelf. She was not happy but it was OK. There had never been so second as all the (insert very identifiable toys name) were all wrong. None had been adopted over the years.

Then I found one that was the closest to the original I'd ever seen. I bought it i susspose partly as a sentimental joke because DD was much much older. Epic fail! It was adopted.

It has gone to uni with DD. It is not as good quality as the original so the anxiety is already high as to what will happen when it breaks.

Now hear me out. I know she older but these things are unpredictable. Do you really want to risk it?

Letmegohome · 28/11/2024 10:02

@TotallyTwisted helpful and kind comment there.

@JawsCushion there's a Facebook group that often get suggested for finding long lost toys etc I can't recall the name right now but I'm sure someone will be along soon to say "try little bluecup" or whatever the correct name is .
Fingers crossed

JawsCushion · 28/11/2024 14:27

She didn't briefly have it. I'm not explaining myself to you. What is wrong in your life that you had to try and make someone feel rubbish? Your user name is appropriate @TotallyTwisted .

Fisher price piglet

Could it be this one? My 2000 born dd had one of these.

Not that one but thank you so much for the link and for trying.

She has the original with her at uni and when she texted to say she'd lost it my heart was in my mouth. She was confident it was in her room as she never takes it anywhere after leaving it at her boyfriend's mums house. She found him and all is well. I'd like to have a spare for me even if she doesn't.

So does she still have one of the originals? Can you get her to take a photo of it?

JawsCushion · 28/11/2024 14:40

Good idea @ElvenElf , I've just asked her.

@JawsCushion & @ElvenElf great idea ,good clear image including tags , hopefully you won't need to use it tho and piglet stays at home 🐽

Oreyt · 28/11/2024 14:49

I'm so confused. This was 2003 so assuming your dd is now in her 20s?
