Thanks @IlovePond for the title.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I had the Dualit milk frother and loved it. Replaced with the velvetiser but only because I think it looks nicer. If it died I'd possibly go back as actually found it slightly easier to clean.

The first Diddly Squat book is called A Year on the Farm.

Edited

@TheGirlWhoLived look at The Works. That book and a couple of other Diddly squat ones are only £5 there for the hardback

@WhyDoesItAlways

So you have to buy the machine and flakes for £100 odd?

Mine only really have hot chocolate from November but maybe that's because that's when I generally clean it ready for Christmas 😬😬😬

Do people use them a lot? £100 though!!

You can pick them up for less than £100. I'm pretty sure the hotel choc club you can get one for less than £70 with flakes and cups or cheaper if you have an outlet close by. QVC also do deals in the run up to Christmas.

The chocolate flakes from hotel choc are expensive and I think not worth it but you can use any grated chocolate you like in it, doesn't have to be the hotel choc stuff.

There are cheaper alternatives out there as others have said. Mine was a gift and I prefer the look of it to others I've seen but if I was buying it myself I would probably be tempted by a cheaper alternative. They had some alternatives in my local pro cook this weekend that looked to be on a black Friday deal.

Apologies if it’s already been mentioned but John Lewis have save £10 when buyin 2 items from the CRIMPit range.

We bought these for Teens last year and they LOVED them

You need these ones. Im wearing them now and love them!

Yes, heartily recommend Tazzies. She has some great colours at the minute. I've just managed to get a pair that match DDs school jumper exactly. She has Reynauds and has to wear them in the classroom.

hugsandpugs · 18/11/2024 11:23

Some bonus cashback offers on Quidco for eBay, look fantastic etc

kpfragglesrock · 18/11/2024 11:31

@Butterontoast

I used
Jewels
WOJ30
Bluelight code

And I had a £15 birthday voucher from them.

ChristmasJumperz · 18/11/2024 12:12

This weekend I bought my dd Just Dance 2025 for Nintend Switch from CDKeys for £19.99. SO much cheaper than anywhere else! I hadn't used them before but my brother had and the Trustpilot reviews were all good. Maybe I am out of touch and they are well known but I am not a big gamer so hadn't come across them. Anyway, it was all good and we have downloaded and played no problems.

Gift wise I'm not sure how you could present it to anyone not your own kids..?They basically give you the key code you use to download the game. If your kids are happy with 'look on the Switch for your present' and you could download it after bedtime on xmas eve or present it another way, ie a home made gift voucher and write the code on or some such then it's worth it for the saving. It is roughly £38.99 everywhere else!

Wonder if anyone has any ideas where I can look....

My teen son is really into his fragrances and has a little collection going. I thought a good gift for him would be to get the shower gels and deodorant sprays or any other toiletries that match his fragrances so he can "layer the scent".

However, these seem quite hard to source and quite pricey. Anyone know of a relatively bargainous way of sourcing these things? Thanks.

SpicyNikNak · 18/11/2024 12:46

For any Bobbi Brown make up fans there is currently up to 30% off on their own website. Plus 3 samples when spending over £55

slimmyjimmy · 18/11/2024 12:51

Not sure if this has already been mentioned White Stuff have got 25% of (almost) everything. Been waiting to see if they have a sale. Socks are brilliant especially last years glitch and the advent pack Grin. Just ordered the pack of 7

Butterontoast · 18/11/2024 12:51

@kpfragglesrock the blue light code won’t stack for me they must of removed it

Thelifeofawife · 18/11/2024 12:57

@OohShakiraShakira you got me again with your name, currently singing to myself 🙂
Take a look on eBay and Vinted. Whenever I don’t want the lotions, etc that I receive in a perfume set I sell them on

LDB1985 · 18/11/2024 13:01

Jo Malone have an early Black Friday offer of a complimentary full-sized Body & Hand Wash (I got lime basil and mandarin, not sure if it’s random) when you spend £130. Plus an Orange Bitters Travel Candle and Limited-Edition Stocking when you spend £190. I kept an eye on all the offers in the run up to Christmas last year and the full sized body wash was the best deal in my opinion

Sorry code is ‘MERRY’

Lovemusic82 · 18/11/2024 13:02

Almost finished my Christmas shopping and we are only half way through November. Just a couple things to get.

looking for some socks for my GM, she’s 97 and she gets cold feet, she also gets swollen feet so the requirements are….longer locks that are not too tight (room for her feet swelling), she has skinny legs so ideally not to wide around the tops.

Also looking for a bracelet for my dad, possibly leather or something steampunk style, but he has small wrists so ideally need to buy in a smaller size.

kpfragglesrock · 18/11/2024 13:03

@Butterontoast

Was it the key worker discount you used? I've just tried it again and it all stacked for me.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Yeah, the name gets me singing too. Maybe I should change it to something less earwormy 😄

I am really struggling for Christmas gifts for my practical dd. She's too young for welding courses that I can find (her idea), unless one of us accompanies her (then too expensive). Can anyone recommend a good whittling set. Doesn't have to be bargainous, just good quality, or anything else to do with building your own house, growing your own food, surviving in the wild, becoming a luthier etc!!! I wish I could just buy some of the make-up offers and be done with it 😂In return, I will post an O2 bauble code once the app lets me on. It's just crashing at the moment.

How about asking a local luthier if they'd give her a tour of their workshop? If you are in the London area I could give you a couple of suggestions

Lidlisthebusiness · 18/11/2024 13:21

@kpfragglesrock when did you get your birthday code in relation to the date you put in? It's my actual birthday tomorrow, and I was goi g to get something from HD, but I've not received any voucher as yet.

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 18/11/2024 13:26

Thanks all for the whittling and course ideas. We are in Scotland!

ilovebrie8 · 18/11/2024 13:30

has anyone had the issue with the Isle of Skye candles you can't use the £5 referral on their Black Friday deals? 🤔

@PumpkinSpicedTea it is still going. Try this link - amzn.eu/d/7vkdY2C

If that doesn't work, just search escape to the chateau forever home and it comes up.

@RoastPotatoConnoisseur amazing thank you! I've ordered it.
