Thanks @IlovePond for the title.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

EA25 seems to have reduced to around £42/43 on most sites- Amazon, Asda, Argos, Smyths, very. I am looking at Xbox version but looks as though others are reduced too.
Just weighing up now where to order from to maximise cash back etc! Might use my Asda reward vouchers but will need to go in store for that

Almost finished my Christmas shopping and we are only half way through November. Just a couple things to get.

looking for some socks for my GM, she’s 97 and she gets cold feet, she also gets swollen feet so the requirements are….longer locks that are not too tight (room for her feet swelling), she has skinny legs so ideally not to wide around the tops.

Also looking for a bracelet for my dad, possibly leather or something steampunk style, but he has small wrists so ideally need to buy in a smaller size.

I bought thermal socks from B&M, they come in a pack of 4 in navy and pink or black and grey. They are lower calf length so may not be suitable but thought I’d mention them.
I have arthritis in my toe and they are fantastic at keep my feet cozy. I think they were about £5.

has anyone had the issue with the Isle of Skye candles you can't use the £5 referral on their Black Friday deals? 🤔

Tbh, I think they have had to put a stop on it as they are virtually out of stock looking at the website. I placed an order on Friday and was asked on Saturday if I wanted to pick another fragrance as mine was now out of stock. I named a few fragrances and there was only one left which they have swapped for. I did also order other things too, though (wick trimmers)

Yes that's right, it was changed just in the last couple of days.

Carrie76 · 18/11/2024 14:00

@Lovemusic82 I’ve got thermal
sock in TkMaxx in the past which had worked well for cold feet. Last year I bought my FIL heated insoles from amazon.

slimmyjimmy · 18/11/2024 14:05

@Lovemusic82 I buy the Softop Socks. A bit longer and they have very soft elasticity. Also Gentle Grip are very soft and comfortable

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 18/11/2024 14:07

@OohShakiraShakira Have a look on notino as I have just find an eau de toilette on there that is £46 and £95 on amazon

I8toys · 18/11/2024 14:10

Notino - is it a legit site? I've never heard of it until recently

Can someone recommend some inexpensive but good essential oils to go in an electric diffuser?

I've bought some nice ones for £4 in Dunelm today. I used to buy from M&S but they seem to no longer be stocked and cost a lot more

icouldnteatanotherbite · 18/11/2024 14:36

Is anyone else having issues with the Bloom and Wild referral code? I've had a couple of people on the referrals thread say they've used mine, plus a couple of friends in real life who I know have used it, and while the first two (real life friends) came through fine, there's been nothing since (even though I saw someone with my own eyes use it this morning!).

Bloom and Wild said it might be that they've ordered something to arrive in the future (fair enough), and this might explain why sometimes I get nada by way of "a friend has used your code". However, it can't also explain why I sometimes get emails saying "someone has used your code - here's £10" and yet it doesn't apply to my account.

Bluezoo123 · 18/11/2024 14:49

Does anyone have a £10 off £60 argos code that they would kindly send to me? I'm sure I received an email with the offer but can't seem to find it now that I've decided I need to buy some things from Argos! Thanks in advance

My kindle has died. I was looking at recycling options for it and have now discovered Amazon do trade-ins for them, and other Amazon products, gift card and 20% a new one! Just in case this helps anyone. Now I just need them to have a BF offer!

Thelifeofawife · 18/11/2024 16:07

@OohShakiraShakira Don’t change your name, it cheers me up having a good old sing song 🙂

shinny · 18/11/2024 16:29

I went RL shopping today and got nice Xmas bedding in Asda - brushed cotton so soft & £12 for double.
Also got a Woodwick dupe 3 wick candle in home bargains for £9.99. It’s gorgeous and smells lovely. I have real WW ones too but this is such a good price. Would make a lovely gift!

LizMay29 · 18/11/2024 17:00

The LeapFrog magic adventures globe is down from £80 to £60 on Argos which I think is a good price.

I also wondered if anyone has an Argos voucher for over £100 spend?

They still stock the Apothecary oils in the big M&S stores but they’re not always with the candles. Our big M&S has a special apothecary display in toiletries which includes them and seems to be the main place they’re put out!

Anyone know or remember from last year if the deals for red letter days, virgin experience or buyagift go cheaper on actual Black Friday? Current best is 24% on buyagift. Trying to decide whether to book or hold my nerve!
