Thanks @IlovePond for the title.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Hi. I’m looking for some more help please!
A very dear friend has been talking about a set of rituals hand wash and hand balm she was bought (m’gouna rose). She has been stretching it out and I’d love to buy her more. I have googled and that seems to be an old set.
I think any nice scent would be ok. Next has violet. It’s just so expensive though - £30 for both. I was wondering if anyone knows anywhere it would be a bit cheaper.

Where do you live? The outlet shops have offers on.

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 20/11/2024 21:11

Does anyone know cheapest deal on Sir Davis whisky please? At £80 a bottle it seems very expensive?! Thank you!

MayorOfHuyton · 20/11/2024 21:16

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 20/11/2024 20:18

I have confused myself, easily done!
So I thought black friday was this Friday due to the amount of emails I've had. After a Google, it's next Friday. Reading the last few posts on here and posters have mentioned about deals from tomorrow. Just gone on to Amazon and it's black Friday WEEK?!?! Has it always been a week or is this a new thing?!

I was told that Black Friday was always the day after thanksgiving and that thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November. Called BF because it's the day that retailers go into the black and make profit.
But it definitely seems to be earlier and longer each year!

nicky2512 · 20/11/2024 21:20

@Crackersnap Thank you so much. That’s a bit less painful!
Ayurveda seems to be a rose type smell so could go for that.

nicky2512 · 20/11/2024 21:22

@Donsyb Thank you. I’m in Northern Ireland. Must google - I don’t know if we have an outlet for rituals. I can honestly say it’s not a brand I have ever bought in my life.

I’m having a major paddy/flap. I spent £120 on mountain warehouse 2 days ago and didn’t use a code. I could rebuy and take back the originals but I don’t really have the money spare to rebuy but I am struggling with such a waste of money. I emailed. They gave zero festive f**ks. No point to this. Just a self pity post. As you were

My mum had this recently! Their online chat people only say "sorry, we don't price match" but she asked to speak to a manager and the person said she'd have to email. So she did and they replied to say they'd be happy to refund the difference! So give it a go!

Livinginacatdictatorship · 20/11/2024 21:28

I'm sure there have been previous suggestions, but at the time I wasn't in need of them. Has anyone got any suggestions for a thermos or tub/cup/storage for soup or similar that will be dishwasher proof and not leak if tipped in a bag? Obviously keep it hot as well.

rhubarbhandsoap · 20/11/2024 21:35

I use this for hot chocolate and soup (not at the same time).

Insanely long link here

It's so easy to use. We've tried it with the fire stick and no problems at all. The picture quality is very good especially for the price.

DeathStarCanteenGal · 20/11/2024 21:47

people who have bought from Papier before, Is 25% off with SECRETSALE as good as I will get - or will their be a bigger reduction if I hold on for Black Friday
I want to buy a lovely diary (and some other bits) for my lovely best fried, who has had a difficult year, so would appreciate some guidance

pinkchampagne1 · 20/11/2024 21:48

That’s good to know. 🙂 I have put it away for DH’s Christmas present so not tried it out, but the reviews look good.

Boots have 15% off + cashback + points

Rituals The Ritual of Ayurveda Recovery Hand Balm 70ml - Boots

The same for Sakura scent. Not a gift set but you could package it nicely

Not very festive (or cheap!) but we were needing to replace our pans as the non stick has decided to stop sticking to the pans. We have a single circulon scratch defense pan which has been great and can fry without oil and handle metal tools - so I was pleased to see that on Amazon the scratch defense stuff is cheaper than Circulon's own black Friday event.

I've gone with the three saucepan set which was £30 cheaper than Circulonby itself, plus three frying pans (2 set + large pan), and it worked out over £50 cheaper for the lot.

Has anyone used a company called winstanleys bikes before? The bike DD is after is at least £40 cheaper on there compared to everywhere else

Winstanley’s are brilliant. I’ve bought bikes and accessories from them over the years.

N96 · 20/11/2024 22:05

Can someone please tell me what the projector deal was. Looking for something like this for hard to buy for teens.

Thanks

There's a Rituals shop in Victoria Square. It's lovely, you can try all the products and they'll package them up really nicely for you too.

Just seen this on Amazon if it's of any use to anyone...

Hey elves,
is anyone aware of any offers for Pandora charms? Can’t wait for Black Friday as needed for a birthday gift. Thanks in advance!

kpfragglesrock · 20/11/2024 22:16

@hugsandpugs

Winstanleys are completely legit. They're local to me and you can go to their warehouse to collect.

Not exactly barginous but Totter and Tumble have a black Friday sale on playmats that don't look like playmats but honestly it is potentially my favourite house item if you have kiddos (not even small kiddos, just ones that like playing wrestling, cars, building blocks!) They are comfy and warm for hard floors!

I love these! Thank you so much. Had never heard of them before. Trying to find something that would work for the newly mobile baby and the dog and cat. These look great!

Are you in their mailing list? As they emailed to say members will get early access to the sale. Just not sure when it'll be as I'm waiting patiently
