Thanks @IlovePond for the title.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

On Amazon it says Black Friday Week starts tomorrow. I've got a basketful of things I'm optimistically hoping will go down (I'll buy them anyway if not!)

Do we think things will go even cheaper on actual BF then? Did that happen last year did anyone know?

I hate this time of year, I just want to buy things and get sorted, but then BF is days away so have to wait 😭

Fahlo have 5 tracking bracelets for £50 with code BUYFIVE

I got 3 last year for me and the kids. Our animals kept stopping for days and then they issued new animals. My kids were 11 and 13 so not traumatised but a bit upsetting. Just to warn for littler kids. We haven't bothered looking for months. Still the money helps a good cause.

The red beanie hats are sold out 😞, which is probably just as well. I’ve already bought the deans shortbread, a cognito cup and the 3 dinosaur egg things today.

Does anyone think children’s pyjamas have got very expensive? I’m sure I got them last year for around £8 a set. Even in Matalan they seem closer to £12. Do M&S usually do a buy one get one half price at some point? I need 7 pairs age 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5 and 6!

M&S have some fleece and cotton ones on 2 for £16

I bought a BF deal from Dean's shortbread last week, only 1 small box was best before 18th jan 25 and the rest was May 25 onwards. If you join their newsletter you get 10% off. It's gorgeous shortbread.

This looks ideal for teacher gifts and extras for other people - thanks!

DD 10 has request a record player as she was given a vinyl copy of taylor swifts album. I’m not expecting it to be used very much, can anyone recommend a budget one please

Be aware that a budget one can scratch the vinyls and Taylor swift vinyls aren’t cheap!
Better to invest in a decent one

Carrie76 · 20/11/2024 18:00

Another one for ROI shoppers (maybe I’m the only on here!). Elverys have buy 1 get 1 half price on most things. I was in Kildare village today and lots of the outlets have their Black Friday offers on so good bargains to be had

ArthurChristmas22 · 20/11/2024 18:06

Thank you all. I think I had an unnecessary meltdown on advent calendar sizes last night and you are all correct. DS will be subdued with his own bag of chocolates. Normal service resumed!

shinny · 20/11/2024 18:19

I have to get 2 squishmallows for little girls (2 and 5). I am clueless - is Argos a good place or should I wait for Claire’s? I want a bigger one for the eldest I think and happy to spend about 20-30. Would be most grateful for any advice please. Thanks

Thank you @Calicone these look good too. I love the fleecy red check but none of the little sizes left. Hopefully they might get more stock before Christmas.

Hi. This looks fab. Can I ask how it comes packaged please? Is it like an actual hamper which can be gifted as is? Thank you!

Hi, it just comes in a cardboard box but you could buy a hamper basket from Home Bargains if you wanted to give it to one person

TryingToHelpBut · 20/11/2024 18:25

My Hearst magazine tcb got declined today. Wonder why some did and some didn't?
Another one who dislikes Black Friday. Just makes shopping online more stressful.

After thinking we didn't need anything I now have 2 backpacks and a single airbed on the way! Amazing prices and we did actually need all those things. The backpacks ended up as £7.99 each with the code. Thanks so much

hugsandpugs · 20/11/2024 18:47

Glad the mountain warehouse info was useful for so many of you. I did end up ordering me and DH some hiking boots in the end. Was £47.58 for them both with free delivery should have been £69.99 each!! 😊

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 20/11/2024 18:48

Have a look at Smyths, they have some cute ones in your price range such as:

CoffeeAndEnnui · 20/11/2024 18:57

@BourbonsAreOverated My DD has had the pale blue version of this Bush suitcase record player from Argos in her bedroom for several years. It has survived a house move and legions of curious friends messing with it without issue and still sounds good. They used to have far more colour options but it looks like it is currently available in grey or black only. Might be cute to get some vinyl stickers that she can customise it with, there are tonnes of Eras tour ones about.

Claire's have 40% off plushes atm. Not sure what is included- I saw it on the window of an IRL store earlier!

How did you all get the kids light up beanie for £3 please?! Clicked on the link, typed in FROSTY and it reduces down to £12?
I was only thinking the other day my son would love one of these as I remember them from this thread last year!

Clucket87 · 20/11/2024 19:11

@Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho it was £2.99 for the red one, not the black one.
Hope that helps. Xx
