Thanks @IlovePond for the title.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Thanks for calendar suggestions - so annoyed with myself for falling for such an obvious dud.

IlovePond · 20/11/2024 15:00

That’s interesting @TheGirlWhoLived - thanks for sharing!

HereForAdvice123 · 20/11/2024 15:03

Does anyone know how often boots restock online products? Or how to check if a product is in stock in store as can’t seem to find that anywhere on site?
thanks

sunshinyday12 · 20/11/2024 15:05

Not very Christmassy but Modbodi have a great sale on. Just got DD period pants for £8.40 each down from £20 ish.

dippyduck1 · 20/11/2024 15:11

Hollister has reduced quite a few perfume and body mists to £3 - £6 HERE

HoneyPea · 20/11/2024 15:15

Cannot find the head torch beanie on mountain warehouse at all 🙁 such as shame as DS1 was only asking for one the other day

Yeah they've disappeared and I'm not surprised at that price. Must have completely sold out.

I got one from amazon last winter and was very happy with it. I'll go and see if I can find the link for you

Edited to add link for kids beanie which is £5.99. Adults ones are £7.99

The red beanie hats are sold out 😞, which is probably just as well. I’ve already bought the deans shortbread, a cognito cup and the 3 dinosaur egg things today.

Does anyone think children’s pyjamas have got very expensive? I’m sure I got them last year for around £8 a set. Even in Matalan they seem closer to £12. Do M&S usually do a buy one get one half price at some point? I need 7 pairs age 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5 and 6!

Ocean59 · 20/11/2024 15:38

Thank you for all the Crafty ideas, off to have a closer look.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 20/11/2024 15:50

Just a heads up, you can no longer get £30 off the Hotel Chocolat velvetiser by being a VIP member

DennisSkinnersMolotov · 20/11/2024 15:57

Thanks for the Mountain Warehouse info. Got 2 carabiner torches for the boys stockings and a lovely fleece for my Dad for £25 delivered.

IDareSay · 20/11/2024 15:59

Middle of Lidl has lots of Christmas stuff in tomorrow; jumpers, leggings, PJs, advent calendars etc etc.
My local branch often puts things out the evening before.

Is anyone else stalking traditional BF offers on Amazon and elsewhere? I'm after a Karcher window vac. It's currently a decent price (the V2 one) with accessories on Amazon at £47.99 but I'm going to hang on in case it drops further after midnight.

Also after the Intax SQ40. Ideally, I wanted to buy it today for DDs birthday tomorrow. I think I'm going to risk it as I'm expecting it to drop tomorrow. I'm sure DD wouldn't mind an 'extra' present a day or two late.

It feels like the calm before the storm!!

Yeah I’m the same. Couple of power banks- particular ones. Crocs, some shower gels. I just keep checking

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 20/11/2024 16:02

@RainbowZebraWarrior @BourbonsAreOverated and anyone else waiting for prices to drop

Don't get caught out...officially Black Friday isn't until the 29th. It's so difficult to know if some things will drop further

Dunnes Stores always have lovely kids pyjamas, and the velour ones are lovely and soft. Those ones are £8 each and there are quite a few patterns in the boys and girls versions.

Edited

On Amazon it says Black Friday Week starts tomorrow. I've got a basketful of things I'm optimistically hoping will go down (I'll buy them anyway if not!)

Do we think things will go even cheaper on actual BF then? Did that happen last year did anyone know?

WhereTheresAHill · 20/11/2024 16:19

What’s worse than having to think of things for your parents and in laws who have everything they need/want….. when you’re spending Christmas Day with both of them and they both ask for ideas of what they can get for each other 😫

Trainstrike · 20/11/2024 16:24

Have we crashed Mountain Warehouse? I was looking for some base layers not realizing it was free delivery and the server seems to be down!

Carrie76 · 20/11/2024 16:39

DD 10 has request a record player as she was given a vinyl copy of taylor swifts album. I’m not expecting it to be used very much, can anyone recommend a budget one please

Urban outfitters often have deals on the cute case style Crosley ones. https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-gb/shop/crosley-uo-exclusive-folklore-floral-cruiser-vinyl-record-player-with-bluetooth-input-output2?color=030&size=0000

or look at cex / cash convertors. All have warranties.

be careful of cheap ones off amazon. In laws bought dd one, it was awkward on Christmas Day when it was beyond shonky

edited because Robert dyas also have a deal on

I bought a BF deal from Dean's shortbread last week, only 1 small box was best before 18th jan 25 and the rest was May 25 onwards. If you join their newsletter you get 10% off. It's gorgeous shortbread.

Hi. This looks fab. Can I ask how it comes packaged please? Is it like an actual hamper which can be gifted as is? Thank you!

I'd be tempted to make them up a little hamper of British treats / selection box - something that can be consumed so won't need to be packed for their return journey. Top Trumps are always a winner for boys that age.
