Thanks @IlovePond for the title.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

There’s a great anker powerbank deal at the moment
£16.99 (with an extra 10% voucher) for a 10,000

amzn.eu/d/8EEgGw8

Thanks for this. I don’t trust off-brand electronics, so seeing an anker power block is great, thanks.

projector, on lightning deal then £100 off voucher then 13% discount tick box took it down to £130

Thanks, I have just ordered for DH. No idea if he needs one but thought it would be handy for a ski trip he has coming up with friends next year as there is no TV where they are staying

Some great bits on boots today. First week I've been impressed! I've got some points to spend so going to grab a no7 skincare set for my mum as an extra gift.

Yes first week I'm impressed too. Got a no7 set for myself with points.

Streep I have 9 fridge magnets (your prints) for £3, I bought these last year and gifted a few. There is a postage charge so I think it works out as £6.50.

I’m looking for advice from anyone who already has a projector.

Would they work for a university dorm room? I’m thinking for DS who is in a midsized dorm. I thought he could project movies etc onto one of the walls, but I don’t know how feasible that it? Do they work in a small space, or does it need to be a “back garden movie night” type thing?

stepfordwifey · 19/11/2024 08:43

@Realfastfoodie
There's a power bank on Boots for £10 today.

Wise0wl · 19/11/2024 08:55

I have one @cinders222 if you still want it PM me.

Sorry, I know there’s a codes thread but can’t find it!

Thanks @Thelifeofawife 😹 I shall cling to the shreds of my self discipline and hopefully not fall for the very good EL ANR serum offer on atm🙀

I agree that I too need to stop clicking on bargains. ELF was a recent case in point, (although at least those items were cheap and I’m gifting a couple of the things I bought!)

What is the EL ANR offer please? Im squeezing the last drops out of mine!

Does anyone know anything about Turkish tea? Had a request for a present based on having Turkish apple tea in Türkiye which he enjoyed and then more recently on another holiday in a restaurant having a honey, ginger and something else flavoured tea. I’m a bit confused though as I’ve found apple tea powders - does that just dissolve in hot water so no need for a teapot? Would the other flavour be loose leaf so does need a tea pot? Then I’ve also found tea bags? Not sure what to get so if anyone has any experience or recommendations I’d be really grateful!

Tea pigs apple and cinnamon tea bags are amazing. Just add a little honey if you like it a little sweeter.

Bippityboppitybooo · 19/11/2024 08:59

Has anyone had this before for the kids? I see it works as a standalone, but wasn't sure if the contents are any good, and can't find pics online? Great price though!

@BourbonsAreOverated @RainbowZebraWarrior thank you! I'll keep an eye out to see if there are any further discounts over the next week or so. And if the thermal waterproof socks are hours in bucket of ice water good, might have to grab a pair of them too...

icouldnteatanotherbite · 19/11/2024 09:17

I gave away my Lakeland code, and now I need to make a Lakeland purchase! Argh! If anyone is able to PM me a code, I would be eternally grateful.

hugsandpugs · 19/11/2024 09:28

Looks like my pooch & mutt advent calendar is out for delivery today! Only ordered yesterday so that was quick. Coming with DPD which I’m surprised with as I only paid £1 for delivery!

I’m exactly the same. It’s just not worth the risk is it, I either buy that sort of thing from a bricks and mortar shop or a proper name.

Nike has 25% off all full priced items when you spend over £50

code .. SCORE24

IlovePond · 19/11/2024 09:38

@choconuts - it’s on the Estée Lauder site:

£74 for 50ml of ANR serum, 15ml of ANR eye serum, 15ml of a moisturiser and a lotion with code: HURRY.

It’s not letting me link atm, but it’s still in my basket.

I’m sorry I didn’t give more details yesterday, I was in a hurry - didn’t mean to be cryptic🙀

We have one in our living room. As long as he’s got a white blank wall for it to project onto he should be fine. Some people project them on to their bedroom ceiling to watch when lying down if he doesn’t have blank wall space.

Hohohopeful · 19/11/2024 09:44

Some of the cotingo migs are £10 on amazon. I prefer the other seal which you have to hold down whilst you drink, but this kind are best for children or anyone with weaker/ smaller hands as you can drink one handed. Insulated cups

These are really leakproof when sealed- you can genuinely have them upside down in a bag. The only problem is they hold heat so well you have to make your drink cooler or wait many hours to drink it.

Serena Carpenter body mist is £11.99 (usually £14.99) on Debenhams though you have to spend £15 for free delivery (£2.99 otherwise). It's also £12.75 with free delivery from Just my look. I can't decide whether to get this for my 10year old, I might have to go and smell some in Superdrug.. Obviously SO! sprays are cheaper but dd does like Sabrina and her list is not big this year...

We use to hang up a white bedsheet (not a fitted one!) to use the projector on

IlovePond · 19/11/2024 09:56

I’ve just cracked and ordered it @Choconuts - it’s actually £72:

https://m.esteelauder.co.uk/promotions

Yours for £72,
Worth £194

EXCLUSIVE FLASH EVENT
For a (very) limited time, reveal your
radiance with our Lift, Firm + Glow
Skincare Gift Set, now just £72.

Offer code: HURRY

I have industrial quantities of skincare/beauty but I use the ANR every day and actually do ‘need’ more. I usually get the blockbuster set at Xmas which has them in, but it’s increasingly poor value so am having this instead.

We have a projector instead of a TV at home. The spec of this one actually looks good for the price. The only thing is that the image size depends on how far away from the wall he can place the projector so would depend on the size and layout of his dorm room how big an image he would get from it.
