Thread 9 - the one with a kink for L’Occitaine

Reastie · 04/11/2024 18:52

Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Btw: I have finally realised that my particular £20 reward from JL only works on the items that are linked when I pressed ‘shop now’ under the reward barcode 🙈

I have gone wild and ordered oldest adult DS the razor blades that are £29.99 (reduced from £34.99). I threw away some new ones recently by accident, so these can be replacements. Not very exciting, but I was pleased with them for £12.99 click & collect.

Hopefully they are the right size…

My football kit from Footballsbest4u arrived today and its brilliant! Thanks to whoever recommended them. I would never have guessed it wasn't authentic. I ordered the kids kit with shorts in size 15+ for my 13 year old as he is very tall and it looks like it will be spot on. Took almost two weeks to arrive but i had several email updates and a royal mail tracking number so very happy! Think cut off date for xmas ordering is 25th November

TK Maxx have some good deals, as do Amazon

Rumblethedinosaur · 08/11/2024 12:54

Does anyone know if the Yoto Black Friday offers are any good? Would like to get one that’s showing as £90 on Amazon and I have a £15 voucher taking it down to £75. Am I likely to get better than that on Black Friday or do I buy now?

SweetPeaPods · 08/11/2024 12:58

Thanks for the Argos gaming headset stand, bought 2 for dc this morning. They will love them!

sepsisandAKI · 08/11/2024 12:59

@IlovePond that’s great thank you! Will get my daughter to have a real life look and I’ll do the online look!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 08/11/2024 13:04

I suppose it is only a bargain if you are doing the shopping anyway and would generally buy it but if you spend £45 (excluding the bottle) in Morrisons and scan your more card a litre of Baileys is £8.50 (It's on offer for £13 if you don't spend £45)

Ceejadess · 08/11/2024 13:10

Can anyone recommend the Vtech Kidi DJ Mix ? Currently reduced to £30 from £60 on Argos, cheapest I can see elsewhere is around £45

My alpaca nesting stuff for my dad arrived yesterday and not only is it soooo soft but it came with a handwritten note from Isabel and the alpacas which was such a cute touch! I’m really impressed!

Please can you link where you got it from. I missed it and can't seem to find it. Thank you.

HyggeTyggeDotCom · 08/11/2024 13:17

Thanks so much for the snow fairy dupes! I’m going to tesco later anyway so will look out for treacle moon

onedayatatime73 · 08/11/2024 13:17

For anyone who ordered the Wine52 bargain- you can only cancel the subscription by phone. Be prepared to be on hold for at least 5 minutes and then a good 5 mins of "persuasive chat" to try and talk you out of it.

onedayatatime73 · 08/11/2024 13:18

Any suggestions of a good discount on a popcorn machine?

hby9628 · 08/11/2024 13:20

@Ceejadess I got that Vtech dj mixer for my DD. It's a decent toy. She doesn't use it much but I would say it's worth it for £30.

Famousthehero · 08/11/2024 11:28

Does he have special interests?

a Raspberry Pi maybe, they are for learning coding but I think you need a PC to interact with them. Have linked the advent calendar as they have little projects included but there are lots of intro sets - I have no clue about what I’m looking at sadly!

presume he already has lots of Lego…

an experience day based around his interests?

Perfect he will love this - that can be his birthday gift!

Waystation · 08/11/2024 13:31

fishfingersandchipsagain · 08/11/2024 11:29

What kinds of thing is he into? If STEM maybe an Arduino kit or Raspberry Pi kit?

I have found an Arduino kit that he will love - thank you

this has saved me hours of searching - I now have both the birthday and Christmas gifts!

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 08/11/2024 13:37

I'm looking for the Gucci Flora Orchid (yellow bottle). Can anyone advise please on cheapest way to buy it? Thanks all!

ChristmasPuddingAllRound · 08/11/2024 13:44

If you are a clubcard holder Tesco has 25% off F&F clothing. Handy for Christmas jumpers and PJs

YeahWellWhyNot · 08/11/2024 13:47

Me again....recently visited Portsmouth docklands with ds who's just turned 7. He was really, really into it. I'd like to capture his enthusiasm as much as possible and knowing we will be leaving the toy stage soon (sobs)...was thinking a Playmobil ship or something? Anyone know what night be good? Budget up to £40 very max as I have a few other bits

I've been able to cancel by emailing their customer service so worth a try?

HollyGennero · 08/11/2024 14:05

Thank you for all the bargains so far! I didn’t think it would be possible to beat the sock advent calendar from last year but I managed to get the Nespresso machine for my brother-in-law 🤩
