Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I also have a 20% off code for the works - no minimum spend to be used online. If anyone wants it let me know - I don’t think I need anything from there ☺️

If you still have this, I'd really appreciate it :)

Babynumberthreeee · 07/11/2024 15:49

Not sure who the poster was who was looking for an ipad for restaurant role play but just saw this on amazon which may be good for running a restaurant Toy card reader

Does anyone know how much the quality street tins are in John Lewis? I’ve got the reward to fill up a new or old tin, just trying to decide if it’s worth buying one.

I missed out the other month on the Melissa & Doug ice cream kit bargain from Amazon 🤦‍♀️. Does anyone know if the other unbranded ones are any good? Or shall I wait to see if the Melissa & Doug one gets reduced again on Black Friday?

I would definitely wait for Black Friday. I got one on a random day about 6 weeks ago when someone posted about it on here, then again on Prime Day. Can't imagine it won't be reduced again!

Good luck

Georgieporgie29 · 07/11/2024 16:04

Did somebody post an offer for hi smile? My dd has just said this is on her Christmas list and I completely bypassed it on the post because I honestly didn’t think it would be something she asked for 😬

I’m interested in this too - I wonder how much it costs to fill up one of my old quality street tins with coffee creams….

The 1.2kg tin including sweets is £17 this year.

Its about £14 / £15 if you take your own tin.

OrangeCorduroy · 07/11/2024 16:21

@Georgieporgie29 Pretty sure HiSmile is on offer at Boots if that helps

It does, thank you very much. Now to figure out what exactly she’s wanting from it

Do you know how much it is to just buy the (empty) tin though? The reward says I can fill a tin, but I need to have a tin I guess? I don’t care enough to spend £17
but if the tin alone is say £4 that would be worthwhile

@Georgieporgie29 They were also in B&M or Home Bargains (I always mix them up) for a couple of pound.

Thelifeofawife · 07/11/2024 16:58

@Georgieporgie29 They have the Hi smile in Home Bargains, with the other teeth cleaning products. I got the peach toothpaste for £1.99. They also do a red velvet. And a teeth whitening pen

cymrumam · 07/11/2024 16:58

I dont suppose anyone has a spare argos code for a £90 spend ?

Thelifeofawife · 07/11/2024 17:01

Regarding the White Fox hoodies, do bear in mind that they are supposed to be worn baggy/oversized.
But for anyone who ended up with one way too big, definitely pop it on Vinted, then also look on there for a replacement in a smaller size, because you can guarantee plenty of people will be in the same situation

My refurbished Dyson has arrived and the packaging is torn and dirty - I'm so disappointed. It is a present for DD but the Dyson box is grubby

Anyone after a quirky gift, justgeek.com have hundreds of their mini character rubber dicks for £6.99 (the bigger ones are £14.99)
Lots of franchises from Star Trek to friends to tmnt to lord of the rings.
Ive got a few as stocking fillers!

Thanks for the giggles. I needed one today. I just finished work and was catching up on this thread. Made me spit out my water. I have just spent a fortune on a trip to the Christmas stuff at Blenheim Palace as I will need something to get into the Christmas spirit so not barginous at all,

Stowickthevast · 07/11/2024 17:20

@Georgieporgie29 mine love the flavoured toothpaste

@soupforbrains Bam has really nice bamboo socks. They don't seem to be on sale at the moment but would imagine they'll do a 20% off soon.

Can anyone explain this to me? How is it a reward if you have to pay for the chocolates and a tin if you need one?

Bryna · 07/11/2024 17:36

Can anyone help with some advice please? I’m looking to buy my DS a rice cooker- which would be better- a multi-cooker or a rice cooker, does anyone have experience of both please?
