Thread 9 - the one with a kink for L’Occitaine

Reastie · 04/11/2024 18:52

Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

My QVC Elemis set arrived today and is lovely, it all comes in a nice gift box and then an additional gift bag which is handy if you're splitting the items.

Has anyone seen any deals on the new Barbie campervan? I’m sure it was £39.99 before but it’s £49.99 now!

@NauseousNancy I was going to buy it yesterday at £39.99 and kicking myself now 🙈 might try and hang on for black Friday too.

LostMyRubySlippers · 07/11/2024 14:22

Hearst magazines still have a number of offers of 3 issues for £1, including good housekeeping. Varying amounts of cash back available, up to £6.80 depending on which publication

Any recommendations for ski gloves or something similar? Trying to think of something for a fussy 20 yo boy who has everything but is going on his first ski holiday next year.

Does anyone know of a good cheap company for fun bath things like bombs or packets of sparkle powder etc? I went to Lush and love the stuff - squidgy bath shapes, delightful novel textures and fun colours, but it was outrageously expensive.

@FiddlefigOnTheRoof highly recommend Scentish - local to me, small business and lovely stuff. you can sign up to their mailing list for 20% off as well - think the code was THANKYOU20 Scentish

Clucket87 · 07/11/2024 14:29

I did the same with the Frozen singing dolls. I put it on here. Went back to go and buy it about an hour later and they had gone out of stock/ increased in price. So annoyed at myself!

I ordered small/medium. She's 12 but the height / size of age14/15. It would be too big for me and I'm an adult size 14!

I see them being sold on vinted all the time. When they are new with tags they fetch almost the tag price. Worth thinking about if you got it with any sort of % off.

Alternatively, maybe someone on here would buy it from you. I'd be interested myself if it was one of the bright green ones.

There are loads of rechargeable hand warmers on Amazon, a lot of them double as power banks too

Conqueeftador · 07/11/2024 14:44

Lots of franchises from Star Trek to friends to tmnt to lord of the rings.
Ive got a few as stocking fillers!

@CalliopePlantain do you have a referral code I could use at all? Thanks Smile

cravingmilkshake · 07/11/2024 14:50

Found you all again.

Thanks !

imnottoofussed · 07/11/2024 14:51

@Scoleah one of the game settings prevents you having a winning streak. I think it's called turbo mode. With each question the timer gets shorter so you do eventually lose and play moves onto next person

cymrumam · 07/11/2024 14:59

Does anyone have any recommendations for the wifi photo frames please - a bargain would be even better

ChristmasJumperz · 07/11/2024 15:13

@NauseousNancy @PumpkinSpicedTea Hopefully they have put the price up now so that they can announce it as a bigger discount later this month. Finger's crossed!
