Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Dd would like a Dyson Airwrap but I'm feeling a bit sick at the price. Can anyone tell me if they're as good as the hype? Eldest Dd wanted GHD's 10 years ago, when she was 13 like youngest Dd, and they were worth every penny and still going strong. If the Airwrap is going to be as big a hit as those then I'll bite the bullet and buy, if not then I'll nudge her towards other options.

My sister has an airwrap and I loved it, but couldn’t afford the almost £500 price tag so I got the shark version instead (the flexstyle) for £250, and we both agree it’s actually better than the Dyson.

QVC are selling White Stuff 12 Days of Christmas Sock Calendar. Great durable men's socks that come to around £3.00 per pair

I think normally when you buy a tin of Quality Street at John Lewis you have to make your choice of a mix of flavours. The offer would be allowing you to fill the tin with just one.

I think there was some bum bum cream in an Advent calendar somewhere?

(My MIL would never have asked for bum bum cream 😁)

What about this? 25% off the set?

Does anyone have any bargainous ideas for a communal gift for my son’s nursery staff? I am doing Stanley type mugs for his room teachers and FOH but I’d like to do something that everyone can share in the staff room too. Last year someone linked a massive cardboard box of chocolates on Amazon and I got a selection of bath bombs from Lush but up for other ideas. Budget of c.£40

What about a coffee pod machine so that they can enjoy nice coffees/ hot chocolates on their breaks?
The Dolce Gusto ‘mini me’ is on offer for £29.99 at Amazon (won’t let me link for some reason) or £35 at ArgosDolce Gusto mini me
Then you could add in a box or two if pods to get them started.

Thanks for the John Lewis tip. I had £15 off beauty so got the Sol de Janeiro set DD was looking for half price. Made up!

Need some advice on teachers’s gifts. DD has started secondary so whats the accepted norm for presents? Anything? Tutor?

@Karlkennedyslovechild mine never gave their secondary teachers any Christmas gifts, I don't know anyone who did tbh. Doesn't seem to be a thing around my way anyway.

This is my interpretation as I've got this reward too. I've read all the Ts & Cs again though and it doesn't actually say you have to pay for the chocolate.

My one mentions payment having to be made - but you can use a reusable tin.

Sorry @44PumpLane that was an accidental tag!

Would this be suitable for someone in early 30s

YeahWellWhyNot · 07/11/2024 08:09

Aargh why can't I click and collect the m&s apothecary set

Same problem! Very frustrating

hby9628 · 07/11/2024 08:21

@mummyof2boys30 it's a gorgeous set. I would say so...I'm 45 though! There's loads in it.

I couldn't click & collect either. Still went for it though. I loved it last year.

tealbead · 07/11/2024 08:30

Thelifeofawife · 06/11/2024 23:25

@woodwaj @tealbead I got this offer, it doesn’t say you have to buy a tin, it says when you buy or bring a pre-loved tin.

I also got a £5 off next shop voucher

Mine says the attached! So I have to buy a tin and the ‘reward’ is that I can have a single flavour instead of mixed! It says ‘when purchasing a tin of quality street’

So I could take a preloved tin but it sounds like I’d still have to pay for the chocolates!
