Thread 9 - the one with a kink for L’Occitaine

Reastie · 04/11/2024 18:52

Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Could anyone help me find a piggy lego minifigure (holding an apple)?! I can't seem to upload a photo. All the ones I've found were £10 plus! TIA

Is the apple important? There are loads on Bricklink without the apple at around £4.

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=col192#T=S&O={%22iconly%22:0}

ETA: You can also buy the apple separately for a couple of pence

Catching up! Thank you so much for the suggestions regarding an alternative to a hit water bottle.
I didn't know rechargeable ones existed!
The long wheat bag with lavender looks good as well, considering buying one for myself!
Ooo he likes under the sea thingsbso I will have a nosey in tk maxx.

I'm thinking of getting an electric blanket or some sort of mattress topper for under his bed sheets as well (not for Xmas!) So will be on the hunt for one of these too!

I am beyond excited: I have just checked my JL rewards and I have a £20 off ‘personal care’ products - no minimum spend!

Last week free Rituals shower gel, this week, who knows? (Basically, if you see someone wandering round JL frantically checking price tags for something costing £20, it will be me!)

Do check your Rewards - something good could be lurking there!

@IlovePond i have £20 off personal care too! Please let me know what you find as am struggling to find anything applicable 🤔

Just catching up on thread so sorry if this has been posted but Look Fantastic have 25% off all sol de janeiro at the moment

I think there was some bum bum cream in an Advent calendar somewhere?

(My MIL would never have asked for bum bum cream 😁)

Georgieporgie29 · 06/11/2024 20:45

My DD has just announced that she would like some Apple pro max headphones. They are stupid expensive but I don’t suppose anyone has seen any cheaper/bought any on Black Friday and advise if the price may come down a bit? Please 🙏

bumblebeedee · 06/11/2024 20:47

Yes please hugsandpugs

IlovePond · 06/11/2024 20:53

@Georgieporgie29 - I think Apple last year for BF gave vouchers if buying products, but this doesn’t help with the initial expense.

Amazon reduced Apple AirPods last Prime Day, (which was annoying for me as I had just paid £60+ more). But that was a bit of a first in terms of a reduction on Apple tech, so I suppose anything’s possible coming up to BF.

I ordered on the 19th and have also heard nothing since the order confirmation. Not sure if I should be worried or not!

I ordered on 16th October then had an email saying it was shipped on 26th October but nothing so far.

BoilingHotand50something · 06/11/2024 21:01

Last year, I was searching for a candle that smelled like Sol de Janeiro and came across this site: Village Wax Melts - the candle went down very well with the preteen recipient. It was the only place I could find one.

They now have a sister site called Rebel Aromas for perfume dupes. I ordered some samples which have just arrived and they are very nice glass samples with sprays. They have good deals across both sites and are a small family business in the UK. If anyone is interested.

Thanks! Do you know which one you have? Even if it's not bargainous, I'd date a good one over a cheap one when it gets used 300+ days a year 😅

This one from dunelm

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 06/11/2024 21:06

@Georgieporgie29
I got DS2 a pair from John Lewis, not a bargain but has a 2 year warranty. However today I saw Curry’s are doing the headphones for £449 so slightly less, saves you £50.

Thank you. They’re so expensive aren’t they?!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 06/11/2024 21:19

@Georgieporgie29
yes they are. I’m not sure if any better deals will come out on BF but I’ve decided I'm not going to look 😂

I don’t blame you. I won’t tell you if I get them any cheaper then (although I very much doubt it)

Does anyone have any bargainous ideas for a communal gift for my son’s nursery staff? I am doing Stanley type mugs for his room teachers and FOH but I’d like to do something that everyone can share in the staff room too. Last year someone linked a massive cardboard box of chocolates on Amazon and I got a selection of bath bombs from Lush but up for other ideas. Budget of c.£40

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 06/11/2024 21:24

Thanks lol.

TopThreeFTW · 06/11/2024 21:25

I have a £5 off £40 code for Frugi if anyone is making a purchase.

Vimaybe · 06/11/2024 21:27

Disney Store has 25% of costumes and toys atm plus you can stack free delivery and an additional 10% off (all generic codes)

I've managed to just get £10 off a doll I've not seen shift on price plus free delivery = definitely feeling the disney magic ✨️

I bought the olaplex 5 leave in conditioner as it doesn’t seem to be available managed places and seemed something good to try if I wasn’t paying full price.

A little bit of a random one .. does anyone have a waffle maker please? My son is desperate for one but I’m keen to go for well reviewed - previously had a lidl one but it was thin/flat and a pain to clean, he’s after fat belgian waffle style.
Thank you all 🧇

Ww have a cuisinart one that is also a toasties machine. The plates are removable to wash and swap.
We are very happy with it . Like this one.

@HopefulBeliever it's SHIPMAGIC and EXTRA10 for the additional 10%. I only tried them on one product but managed to stack all 3 codes.
