Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I'm thinking of buying Hexbug Nano for my 6 year old. Any tips on particular good sets for a beginner?

My granddaughter aged 5yrs loves playing 'restaurants' so have got her waitress and serving set bits.

But what she really wants is one of those menu iPad things that waiting staff use now to punch in the menu choices.

Has anyone seen or know of a pretend version ? Thanks

I've never come across a play one, but the way my DC improvise this is with an LCD drawing tablet (loads of them on Amazon for about a fiver). They list the things they want on their menu and I write it all down for them, then they just put ticks next to whatever I / other 'customers' order. The tablet gets used for all sorts of other things too - we wouldn't be without it now.

Wine 52 subscription. Link for anyone that wants it

https://www.beer52.com/wine/subscription#step3

NB there is also £5 cashback through TopCashback (or £4 through Quidco) but I don’t know if it would work on the free case.

Thank you so much for this FishFingers I’ve just ordered the 3 wine box and I’m going to keep it for Christmas.

Another bonus was that after I ordered , special offers pop up and if you go through them, one is a free case of craft beer, which will be perfect for my brother! You do have to pay the postage of £6.95 for that, and it also signs you up to the beer club as well, so make sure to cancel both the beer and wine club if you do to want to continue with the subscription.

this is such as brilliant threat, thank you all, I’ve got some great Christmas presents!

I don't think the Smyth's Lego offer has been mentioned yet

Yes click on the link FishFingers originally posted and it will take you straight to it, or google Wine52/entertainment, should take you straight to it

Has anyone seen any Barbie camper van bargains? I'm sure I missed one a few threads back before DD declared it her most wanted gift!

siansattic · 06/11/2024 11:56

@okayhescereal Thanks for posting that! I was having the same problem and have been back on to the site, changed the colour and it worked :)

That was me!!! Thank you so much! Typed in the words guinea pig and so much has come up! They've even got a guinea pig shaped birthday cake which he will love! Thank you 😊

I just popped into the Card Factory and bought a couple of cute cuddly Christmas guinea pigs for our neighbours.

Any recommendations for an afternoon tea type gift that can be sent straight to the person? Preferably cheap and the items to have a good date on them.
Thank you

The best price I’ve ever seen is £40 on Amazon very recently. I’d probably hold out until Black Friday again although I think £40 will probably be the lowest it ever goes.

weareallqueens · 06/11/2024 12:18

Thanks so much for the Disney and the Wine 52 tips. After ordering my wine it offered me 10 beers for 6.95 delivered so who am I to resist?!

Clarabella72 · 06/11/2024 12:19

Boots had bum bum cream on offer and so did look fantastic… the brand you need to search for is sol de Janeiro

Get it on Vinted! Someone on these threads told me to and I'm so glad. I bought a HUGE box of track for £10. I also bought 10 bugs for £7, just needed new batteries (a multipack was about £2 from amazon).

EDIT: just realised it was the original grey sets I bought, not Nano. But check Vinted anyway

These were a big hit on this thread last year when some were on clearance in Argos. Great price at £2. I have seen the currently at full price in Sainsbury’s and they look nice. Bigger than expected - about 2-3 times the size of Jellycat Amuseables.
