Thread 9 - the one with a kink for L’Occitaine

Reastie · 04/11/2024 18:52

Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

A little bit of a random one .. does anyone have a waffle maker please? My son is desperate for one but I’m keen to go for well reviewed - previously had a lidl one but it was thin/flat and a pain to clean, he’s after fat belgian waffle style.
Thank you all 🧇

Iggii · 05/11/2024 21:49

I've found a lovely necklace on a site called Wolf and Badger - just wondering is anyone familiar with the site? I don't want to be ripped off in my excitement!

TimPat · 05/11/2024 21:56

Any good offers around for electric toothbrushes? My mum's exciting request.

Are you looking for tazz with the platform sole? As they are circa £110. Whereas the regular sole is £85 I think (and still quite chunky). I got the regular ones recently from schuh and used my 20% off birthday code. So you could try setting up a new account and put in a birthday for soonish? It gave me the code on week of my birthday.

Thank you! I think it’s the platform ones she wants, though from reading reviews they can feel a bit unstable walking in them. I’d prefer to get her to regular sole ones but from what I can see they only do the colour she wants (red trim) in the platform style.
Good shout regarding the birthday code, 20% off would be ideal

We got this one a couple of years ago and it’s reasonably priced (£25ish) and very good.

absolutely no fail with the waffles and they don’t stick at all. I make lots at a time and freeze leftovers.

@44PumpLane I'd recommend this book for self-esteem and confidence meditations for kids:
https://relaxkids.com/product/pants-of-peace/

It's not cheap, but good. Relax kids also do loads of other products all aimed at nurturing good mental health in children and supporting kids that might be experiencing anxiety, self-esteem issues etc. I can't comment on the others as I haven't used them.

There was some heavily reduced on boots!

Can I just ask…. Those who use top cash back does the earnings from the gift cards you buy always show up as ready to withdraw straight away? I didn’t realise they did gift cards and normally use jam donut but some of the rates on top cash back are higher

Following on from the lovely earlier post about tracking down a hard-to-find book, thought l'd mention www.bookfinder.com. It's great for tracking down harder to find books, plus for checking for the cheapest seller. I don't think it searches Vinted, but it searches ebay, amazon, abebooks, etc.

"Leftovers"? What are these "leftover" waffles you speak of? 🤔

PadstowGirl · 05/11/2024 22:23

Wolf and badger are completely respectable.

Whyisitsodifficult · 05/11/2024 22:24

A bit niche but hoping someone can give me a discount code for Peppermill Interiors!?

I know I know, but hear me out. I just think in for a penny, in for a pound so I make a big batch then I split them up and freeze.

When I want to eat them, I defrost for 2 mins in microwave to thaw and quickly toast or stick in air fryer for 2 mins to bring back to life. Perfect!

winewolfhowls · 05/11/2024 22:32

I'm giggling away to myself that a pp wrote Guinea pig pyjamas and needed to add 'for humans' as I was then imagining teeny tiny little PJs.

Wolf and Badger are fine but they are basically a department store.

Do have a good Google first as you can find the brands cheaper on other sites ( especially the makers own site).

Sounds like a great plan! I think I'll have to implement it when I'm alone in the house... With the kids and husband present, I've got no chance - no matter how much batter I make 😂

I need one of those spinney waffle makers so I can do twice as many at once!

Has anyone recently received anything from soccer04? I ordered after seeing all the talk on these threads. Ordered 20th October but received nothing since the order confirmation.

I’m on the look out for some outdoor path finder type Christmas lights if anyone knows any decent quality ones?

I ordered on 18/10 and they came yesterday. I did get a tracking email on 26/10 but it did go to junk so check there?
Also the tracking didn't actually work but they did still turn up!

[email protected] is the email if you want to ask them where your order might be - I did email because the tracking wasn't working and they got back to me within 24 hours and also said if it didn't turn up by the expected date (which was today) then to get back in touch and they'd sort it

Really pleasantly surprised by them actually
