Christmas decs! How early is early?

Hi, my neighbour has already put up her Xmas decorations. I feel this is way too early, am I wrong to be annoyed? She did it last year aswell and as it was her first Christmas since moving in I didn't say a thing but she's done it again! I just think doing it to soon just drags it out, I get sick of looking at them! 🙈

Bloody ridiculous. Last weekend in November at the absolute earliest.

pizzaHeart · 29/10/2024 06:55

Shared house or separate?

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 29/10/2024 06:56

YANBU, they must be sick of them by mid December!

Gigihadid · 29/10/2024 06:56

It doesn’t bother me at all. I won’t be putting mine up until mid December but I quite like that we are starting to see them come out now. The world is such a miserable place, Xmas decs are one thing that don’t have to be.

RedFronds · 29/10/2024 06:58

When hadn't put mine up on December 1st my neighbour came round to complain! Grin

FleetwoodCam · 29/10/2024 06:59

Yes you are wrong to be annoyed. It has absolutely no impact on your life and maybe adds some joy to hers.
I'd find it odd maybe but certainly not feel I should "say something" unless it was something positive.

Cuppachuchu · 29/10/2024 07:01

Did she not put up Halloween Decs, then? Dear me, no standards at all.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 29/10/2024 07:03

You are wrong to be annoyed. She hasn't put decorations up in your house, but her own. Because it's her house and she wants to. Nothing at all to do with you

TianasBayou · 29/10/2024 07:04

Diwali?

Not that it is any of your business to be annoyed by her actions!

Sethera · 29/10/2024 07:05

"Threads about putting Christmas decorations up early - how early is early to start one"? 😀

WonderingWanda · 29/10/2024 07:06

It's too early in my opinion but it's her house and she can do what she likes. There are worse things a neighbour can do!

NigelHarmansNewWife · 29/10/2024 07:06

She probably takes them down after Christmas dinner but before Gavin and Stacey because she "can't stand the clutter". It's bonkers, but maybe they cheer her up?

ThomasPatrickKeatingsDegas · 29/10/2024 07:08

Life is miserable. She’s trying to create a bit of joy. Also studies show that people who put their decorations earlier are nicer, happier people, so perhaps if you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em!

LeafcutterAnt · 29/10/2024 07:09

I put mine up early December but the couple opposite put theirs up mid December and I've wondered if they complain I'm too early. (The guy is the complaining type.)

Mummy2mybear · 29/10/2024 07:11

Yes its early but not something I could get annoyed about, worse things to be annoyed about in life its her house she can do what she wants 🙄

SophiaJ8 · 29/10/2024 07:14

Too early for me, but nothing to do with me what others do.

noscoobydoodle · 29/10/2024 07:23

My neighbour has Halloween Decs up from mid-sept (after the village scarecrow festival decorations come down). She puts out Xmas Decs on 1 November as she packs away Halloween decs. She's quite eccentric - makes me chuckle.

TheChosenTwo · 29/10/2024 07:27

I know someone who’s put theirs up already, she wanted the pretty lights now the nights are drawing in.
I did just think “why don’t you get some regular twinkly fairly lights and just string them around your fireplace for a bit?!”
Anyone doesn’t affect me, I’d hate the tree being up now although we have a real one so don’t usually get it until mid December so it’s still good for Christmas.
October in my opinion is way too early so I just don’t put mine up yet.
i think your annoyance is misplaced 😂

GoldMoon · 29/10/2024 07:28

Yes it's to early , but not for her . You saying it's made you annoyed is a bit much , incredulous yes agree with that one , but it's her house , her decision . Just don't look that way when going home . Ignore the flashing lights etc .

StarSlinger · 29/10/2024 07:30

It's not too early for your NDN so it's got nothing to do with you. She hasn't come round and decorated your house.

RosesAndHellebores · 29/10/2024 07:30

It's so early, she might as well keep them up for next year 😀

Rooroobear · 29/10/2024 07:32

I think you’re wrong to be annoyed. She can do what she wants, it has zero impact on your life and you’re complaining for the sake of complaining. If that’s the most important thing you have to worry about, it’s quite sad

IAmAFirestarter · 29/10/2024 07:33

Are we talking flashing lights on her house or decorations inside her house?

blibblibs · 29/10/2024 07:38

Its never too early! My neighbour has some up too and I'd love to join them but I fear my family would revolt 🎄🎄🎄

TheWorstWeek · 29/10/2024 07:40

It's too early for me but I don't blame people for putting their Christmas decorations up early. The winter is long and dull, and if it brings someone some joy to put up their decorations and have some twinkly lights for those dark months then who am I to judge.

I put mine up the first weekend of December and my mum thinks that's too early! As I'm sure plenty of other people do too. It's just what works for me.
