Posh adult "stocking" presents

I need some posh small presents. 4 for men and 4 for women. Maybe 10/15 quid each? I want them to be a bit out of the ordinary-and something they won't want to recycle immediately. The recipients are between 23 and 28.Any ideas?

Have fun looking in TK Maxx stationery, food amd beauty sections for luxury products at a good price

I asked my DH. His favourite small gifts, seem boring, but for around a tenner, he loves those gift sets with a few chocolates and a miniature of alcohol. Fancy wallet? No, he knows what sort of wallet he likes, card holder? What's the point? He has the cards he uses in his wallet, and anyway, they are all on his phone now. He quite likes fancy smelling hand-wash. He likes silly socks and pants, but DCs have stopped buying these as they think they are boring. He likes gift vouchers as, although he can afford to buy himself any music/books/gadgets, he likes having a balance he can just browse and spend guilt free- he used to love itunes cards for this before streaming took over. Don't overthink it,

Those lovely Nordic socks,

check out fortnum and mason on line. They have some of the most decadent foodie gifts like black cherry curd or pistachio wafers.

Herdy have the cutest Lake District sheep themed gifts but good quality and stylish. Great mugs.

Monty bojangle truffles in this great cat tins.

Had a bad experience with Nordic Socks. The first wash shrank them and virtually turned them to felt!

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 24/10/2024 07:16

I’d avoid obvious high st brands and mainly fill it wit essentials from smaller brands or very luxe brands

I think the OP actively wants luxy ideas though - presumably your DH isn't late 20s?

CurlewKate · 24/10/2024 08:35

So many lovely ideas-thank you. I'm compiling a spread sheet as we speak! Keep them coming thought- I'm sure it's not just me looking for this sort of thing! Incidentally- this is way outside my budget for this "project" but someone gave me this for my birthday and it's absolutely lovely. Mine is dark green and bright pink. The giver knows me well! tomsstudio.com/collections/wren

No idea how much they cost nowadays but what about a cocktail shaker? Or other retro item. Retro sophistication seems to be in among some under 30s.

Colinorpercy · 24/10/2024 09:39

Lululemon is v popular- their keyring is £15

Thommasina · 24/10/2024 09:41

I've bought two of these for my 20 something dds stockings, saw it in the tate modern and it's very glossy and perfect stocking size

My fancy stocking list this year for my sisters:

  • Pair of nice socks
  • Jar of local honey
  • Paperback novel (something gentle and uplifting)
  • upmarket bar of chocolate
  • a garlic grating plate
  • a Moth pre-mixed cocktail can or nice can of wine
  • Belazu harissa nuts

If they enjoy good quality stationery I can highly recommend a browse on Cult Pens (cultpens.com). A few suggestions:

Leuchtturm notebooks are practical with beautiful quality paper which is great for fountain pen users (no bleed through), come in a huge range of colours and sizes and start from around £14. Clairefontaine notebooks are also worth a look.

Japanese brand Mnemosyne makes the most wonderful little memo pads. Excellent quality, fountain pen friendly and very stylish (search google for better images). I always keep one of the 177 double-perforated pads on my desk (£4.20). Each page has a perforation at the top a perforation half way down the page so ideal for notes and lists.

A little over budget but you can sometimes pick these up in the sales or reduced on Amazon - Lamy Safari fountain pens. Not exactly posh, but an absolute workhorse of a pen and pretty iconic. Cheap enough to keep in a bag/car but still enjoyable to write with.

Finally highlighter pencils are fun and practical if you have anyone on your list who marks up technical drawings and so forth for work. Koh-I-Noor have a set of 6 for £6.25. Or a good old set of Pilot FriXion erasable highlighter pens if you have any students or people who might need to highlight text.

Granado soap bars - they smell amazing and look beautiful

I'm a big fan of something you can use up or eat up - so foods, toiletries (but nothing crappy), or perhaps a book. I'd hate to have small tat.

Neutral cashmere gloves or bedsocks are always nice, but might be over the budget

Also, personally I'd love to get this V&A Cat Map of London tea towel. Appreciate not everyone is in London/likes cats, but the V&A shop has some great gifts and lovely prints. Particularly notebooks.

Tweezerman mini eyebrow tweezers. Little perfume decanters ( can buy on Amazon or boots and decant any perfume into the little spray bottle). Mini hand cream. Lovely socks or gloves. Show clips. Power pack.

EvelynBeatrice · 24/10/2024 10:40

Shoe clips not show!!

I probably depends on the person as to what 'posh' is.

I'm really not a posh person at all and spending a lot on something little (like a little bag of expensive coffee etc...) would mean nothing to me and I would just think 'what a strange tiny bag of coffee'.

If you gave me a bar of soap I would think you where saying I need to wash more. Some toiletries can be nice but a bar of soap seems a very loaded message.

Thinking of something that 'nice' and a bit 'fancier' for under £15 and fits in a stocking though my first though was Victoria Secret body spray... not sure VS classes as posh though but its nicer than standard grab and go 'so?' ones etc...

LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain · 24/10/2024 11:04

I wouldn't want anything ordered from Amazon.
How about a tiny perfume sample set ordered direct from a niche perfumier or a samples site? These are pretty: https://www.feelunique.com/p/FLORAL-STREET-Vegan-Eau-de-Parfum-Discovery-Set

@LikeMyHeartIsAboutToStopBeating I love your list, I would love to get that stocking

@LikeMyHeartIsAboutToStopBeating I love your list, I would love to get that stocking

Thanks! It's fun putting them together.
Last year I did:

  • soap
  • a bottle of nail polish
  • some posh crisps
  • a bottle of essential oil for a diffuser
  • a small enamelled shell dish for rings
  • miniature bottles of gin

They don't get gifts from many other people and so it's fun to treat them to some things they wouldn't buy themselves

Great example of why gift buying is so hard.
I'd love a bar of soap as I'd definitely use it. I haven't used body spray since I was a teenager dodging the communal showers after PE.

So disappointed to find out L'Occitane still aren't cruelty-free.
