Feeling quite delighted to have most of the dc’s shopping done and under €500 so far! I can tend to go crazy at Christmas 😬

I have spent €436 so far. And I have bought

DD11
Jumper
Nike leggings
Sephora goodies -bath bombs, lip gloss, hair oil, travel containers.
Initialled Glass cup
Small panda bag for accessories
Panda Teddy
Sanitary wear bag
Slushy maker
New York jigsaw
Eiffel Tower puzzle
Socks
MGA miniverse set
Full length Mirror for her bedroom
clothes rail for her bedroom
Small panda ornament
Panda hair towel
Panda face mitt
Nintendo sports game
Nintendo sports accessory pack

DS9
Hoody
Lion teddy
Elephant teddy
Football pen Holder
Vbucks voucher
Fidget popper game
Darts board

I still have a good bit to get for DS though he is getting a PlayStation (second hand) and a game and couple of Lego sets.

DD is pretty much done I might pop into primark and get some baskets for the bottom shelf of the clothes rail and pjs etc

Have you totalled your spend so far?

Around £180 on each child? You think that's LOADS?

I think it’s loads too!

leojeojao · 20/10/2024 18:31

Hmmm, well done to you but most of these things I give to my children on the go as they need them. Like containers and baskets. And 2-3 very but VERY meaningful that they will be absolutely over the moon for. Something they have been so patient waiting for, or something I know will last years and they will keep as memories.
Less stuff but more quality.

You’ve done really well OP, everything is so expensive now! I’ve been picking bits up for the kids when I see a bargain and now have a little list under each of their names in my phone like yours. Sometimes I read it just for fun šŸ˜‚ I am also proud! I have to start early
to space out cost for anyone moaning about that and for ā€˜consumerism’ I don’t think my very young children care about it they just like Christmas and Santa and presents! Awful I know!

yes, hopefully next year the OP will have a lot more common sense. We all have to do our bit to bring up a generation who value quality over quantity.

Imjustlikeyou · 20/10/2024 18:36

@SanctusInDistress oh go away you pompous arse

mumTTCno2 · 20/10/2024 18:37

@EverythingIAm I'm just enjoying it whilst I can! It's not for very long where they're excited to come down to mountains of toys. I'm sure it'll soon be football kits and Xbox games 😁

Possibly, but I don’t care and you’ve gone public with the list voluntarily.

you’ve bought a load of tat.

leojeojao · 20/10/2024 18:40

@WiserOlderElf yes that's true. I just kind of answered to the question OP asked in the end that's all.

Sorbiecorner · 20/10/2024 18:41

Good for you OP. You do what makes you and your family happy for Christmas. A magic time of year. Feel free to tell every miserable bastard on this thread to fuck off. Miserable, patronising gits.

Animatic · 20/10/2024 18:42

Haven't even started yet, althp7gh I have an idea of what it should be for my DS. Interesting to see all teddies for ds9. Does he play with them?

She's bought presents for her children that they will like for Christmas.

Whether you call them presents or tat, unlike your comment, they are useful and will be appreciated.

Or maybe yes. Who knows. Or maybe somebody else reading the thread who was about to go out and buy a pile of meaningless tat will think twice. You never know.

Wow, that's some ego you have there. Is that what you think you're doing here, changing hearts and minds one shitty post after another?

It’s really not tat…it’s clothing, stuff for her room, stuff for her to do and things she will actively use. I don’t see how that is tat!

but as you say…I don’t care either…

Ah yes, buying bonkers amounts of presents - the true meaning of Christmas.

Ah yes, sneering about somebody else looking forward to Christmas - the true spirit of the season.

itsgettingweird · 20/10/2024 18:50

My "kid" is 20yo

No longer gets a stocking so gets a "big" gift and stocking type gifts under the tree.

I don't "plan" Xmas or have a specific budget.

Ā£20 for my dad, siblings, nephew and SIL (Ā£100 total).

So far I have picked up

Pillow for the bath (b and M £3!)
Box of 50 mini bags of squashies (Ā£6 Aldi!)
Tube of Jaffa cakes (Ā£3 Aldi)
Coco pops bowl cup and box of cereal (Tesco)
Lynx box set (Ā£4 as half price clubcard offer!)

I will get him a voucher for rails at Sheffield because he's building a model railway.

Got him one for his birthday too.

And any other silly food stuffs or useful stuff I happen to see if I see it!

Also thinking about a mag subscription for a year as he reads the model railway ones!

I don't tend to budget as such (Ā£200 is what I set aside inc dad etc) but the other smaller stuff just comes out of monthly money so I don't count it!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks that list is way OTT.

User100000000000 · 20/10/2024 18:52

I can’t believe you count every single penny when it comes to presents for your own children!
