Feeling quite delighted to have most of the dc’s shopping done and under €500 so far! I can tend to go crazy at Christmas 😬

I have spent €436 so far. And I have bought

DD11
Jumper
Nike leggings
Sephora goodies -bath bombs, lip gloss, hair oil, travel containers.
Initialled Glass cup
Small panda bag for accessories
Panda Teddy
Sanitary wear bag
Slushy maker
New York jigsaw
Eiffel Tower puzzle
Socks
MGA miniverse set
Full length Mirror for her bedroom
clothes rail for her bedroom
Small panda ornament
Panda hair towel
Panda face mitt
Nintendo sports game
Nintendo sports accessory pack

DS9
Hoody
Lion teddy
Elephant teddy
Football pen Holder
Vbucks voucher
Fidget popper game
Darts board

I still have a good bit to get for DS though he is getting a PlayStation (second hand) and a game and couple of Lego sets.

DD is pretty much done I might pop into primark and get some baskets for the bottom shelf of the clothes rail and pjs etc

Have you totalled your spend so far?

My eldest two are 11 and 9 and there's hardly anything in that list that they would want/ask for/know what that is!
That's not meant as a criticism, just interested me how different it is. Do they not want any art supplies or craft stuff? No books??

My dd has a jigsaw, a 3d puzzle and a mini verse craft set in that list.
ds has Lego.

they have plenty of books

Don’t you think you will keep going now until Christmas - esp since you normally go a bit crazy? Then they will end up with masses…

No @Calliopespa i won’t

I didn't. It popped up on MY feed. The last thing I'm interested in is people bigging themselves up about how much money they've spent/how 'proud' they are about shopping (lol) as if it's an actual achievement.

It's still relevant. You're not interested in Christmas shopping, why open the thread and have a go at the OP? Why not just scroll past?!

Not all your thoughts have to leave your head.

Bernardo1 · 21/10/2024 21:38

Who cares!

So you see a subject heading, decide its of no interest to you, open it, read it then leave those words of wisdom?!

Would have been less effort to keep scrolling

Why not? Your thoughts obviously do🤣🤣🤣🤣

@YellowphantGrey Thank you for introducing me to the word 'bitchplop.' It's amazing and funny! Xmas Grin

buffyfaithspike · 22/10/2024 01:53

Most of MN seem to be "I earn 6 figures"
Then threads like this are "oh I never spend more than £50 per child"

thicklysettled · 22/10/2024 02:57

Mrsmch123 · 20/10/2024 19:10

I love these kind of list for ideas. Im just about done with my three year olds Xmas. It's all wrapped and up the loftšŸ™ˆ. Just looking for a "main" present but might struggling as he's got all the usual big items. We have probably spent around Ā£400.

You've spent £400 on a three-year-old and you're still thinking you need a "main" present? What are you doing?

Toptops · 22/10/2024 04:03

I have bought the Quality street.

SpoonyNavyGoose · 22/10/2024 06:44

How about have some thought for those who cannot buy numerous gifts for their children?
This post actually made me feel quite shocked that someone would even think to write it down and think it was acceptable to be ā€˜proud’ about this level of shallow.

But then where does that end? Nobody is allowed to be happy they have a new house / car / holiday / kitchen / shoes or whatever?

With all respect, you could say that about everything. People on here talk about their luxury holidays, their giant houses, their cars, their children’s private education. If you stopped people talking about things they have that others can’t afford, you’d close down a lot of discussion. This post is on the Christmas board, and the Christmas board is absolutely full of people listing what they’ve bought their children at this time of year. If people find that difficult to read, there’s an option to hide the board.
I don’t spend anywhere near what the OP does but why does that mean she can’t discuss what she’s bought, on the Christmas board? I read the ā€˜proud’ bit to mean that she’s proud of having found lots of bargains because she’s got a lot of stuff for not a huge amount of money.

Of course we can be happy we have nice things, I know I am. I just don’t brag about it.
Being happy and proud of yourself is wonderful.
This post is just very bad taste imo, I find this kind of public financial bragging very shallow.

BrotherRooster · 22/10/2024 07:31

@SpoonyNavyGoose maybe don’t go on the Christmas board then? Personally I enjoy a bargain and I enjoy shopping for Christmas gifts and I enjoy seeing what others have gotten for their children and getting ideas for my own.

not sure why you’re here - seems you enjoy trying to be put people down, call them names and try shame them? Not what the Christmas board is about FYI.

It’s a post about Christmas presents on the Christmas board. I’ve been on MN for about 15 years and have seen 100s of this kind of post around Christmas time, it’s a fairly standard post for the Christmas board.

purplespink · 22/10/2024 07:35

I don't understand why people are annoyed. A) it's the Christmas board and B) it's actually not an obscene amount. 436€ is Ā£363 and that's between two children. @Positivenancy you've done a great job and don't feel bad about your post Smile

I didn’t go on the Christmas board, it came up on my feed as AIBU and there was no mention on Christmas in the title so forgive me for that at least.
My response was my opinion, that’s what MN is all about isn’t it?

Fair point, yes MN is full of these people. I’ll scroll on by

thaegumathteth · 22/10/2024 07:46

Sure, but you don't always have to share your opinion particularly when it's designed just to make someone feel shit.

Yup. Ehhh spending my money on my child as I see fitšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

No, not to make someone feel shit at all, I was shocked at the listing of gifts and sharing this monetary info on an AIBU post. My hope was that people will be considerate of those less fortunate.
MN is clearly full of people who think this is normal so I have no answer for that sorry.

BrotherRooster · 22/10/2024 08:28

@SpoonyNavyGoose I’m shocked you find that shocking. Isn’t it a fairly standard thing - people spending money on their relatives at Christmas and give relatives gifts. Children getting gifts off Santa etc.

I posted in the AIBU by accident at first but the thread is now moved to Christmas.
