I still have a good bit to get for DS though he is getting a PlayStation (second hand) and a game and couple of Lego sets.

DD is pretty much done I might pop into primark and get some baskets for the bottom shelf of the clothes rail and pjs etc

My dd has a jigsaw, a 3d puzzle and a mini verse craft set in that list.
ds has Lego.

Then threads like this are "oh I never spend more than £50 per child"

This post actually made me feel quite shocked that someone would even think to write it down and think it was acceptable to be ‘proud’ about this level of shallow.

But then where does that end? Nobody is allowed to be happy they have a new house / car / holiday / kitchen / shoes or whatever?

With all respect, you could say that about everything. People on here talk about their luxury holidays, their giant houses, their cars, their children’s private education. If you stopped people talking about things they have that others can’t afford, you’d close down a lot of discussion. This post is on the Christmas board, and the Christmas board is absolutely full of people listing what they’ve bought their children at this time of year. If people find that difficult to read, there’s an option to hide the board.
I don’t spend anywhere near what the OP does but why does that mean she can’t discuss what she’s bought, on the Christmas board? I read the ‘proud’ bit to mean that she’s proud of having found lots of bargains because she’s got a lot of stuff for not a huge amount of money.

Of course we can be happy we have nice things, I know I am. I just don’t brag about it.
Being happy and proud of yourself is wonderful.
This post is just very bad taste imo, I find this kind of public financial bragging very shallow.

@SpoonyNavyGoose maybe don’t go on the Christmas board then? Personally I enjoy a bargain and I enjoy shopping for Christmas gifts and I enjoy seeing what others have gotten for their children and getting ideas for my own.

It’s a post about Christmas presents on the Christmas board. I’ve been on MN for about 15 years and have seen 100s of this kind of post around Christmas time, it’s a fairly standard post for the Christmas board.

I don't understand why people are annoyed. A) it's the Christmas board and B) it's actually not an obscene amount. 436€ is £363 and that's between two children. @Positivenancy you've done a great job and don't feel bad about your post

No, not to make someone feel shit at all, I was shocked at the listing of gifts and sharing this monetary info on an AIBU post. My hope was that people will be considerate of those less fortunate.
MN is clearly full of people who think this is normal so I have no answer for that sorry.

@SpoonyNavyGoose I’m shocked you find that shocking. Isn’t it a fairly standard thing - people spending money on their relatives at Christmas and give relatives gifts. Children getting gifts off Santa etc.
