DP a bottle of beer
Dad a vintage bird book
Sister 2 scented candles in the shape of a sheep .
That's it.

genesis92 · 19/10/2024 10:37

You have "brought" this stuff. You've "bought" it

Hotafternoon · 19/10/2024 10:46

I've bought a small imitation pre lit Christmas tree for the dining room and got rid of the old larger one, put it on Freecycle and it was snapped up and a lovely imitation wreath for the front door.

Both items will last years hopefully.

TheShellBeach · 19/10/2024 10:48

You mean "bought", surely?

CoffeeChocolateWine · 19/10/2024 10:52

@GettingStuffed, what is the vintage bird book please? My Dad might like it 😊

TeamPolin · 19/10/2024 11:21

Not very much as DS is flipping flopping over his choices!

A children's atlas
Stocking bits - bubble bath, sleep mask, Christmas socks....

thursdaymurderclub · 19/10/2024 11:24

we are keeping it low key this year... im working christmas day and boxing day, and we have booked and paid for a weekend at centre parc in june next year for the entire family as their main present.

we are having our christmas day on christmas eve. we only buy a token for the GC as they are little, and we will put some cash in the bank accounts we have set up for them.

the adults kids are getting a 'token' each, nothing more than 20 or 30 pounds, and i've been collecting things all year, if i've seen something i think they will like i will pick it up.

Does it matter? I think people (except you perhaps) understand what the op means.

Lifestooshort71 · 19/10/2024 11:50

Mini Jellycat Bunny for 18yr GD and a cheque (hope she'll take bunny to uni, if not, I'll look after him 😁)
Always do stocking for daughter - this year M&S silk pillowcase, fragrance gift set (a request), Sainsbury's socks (the best, apparently), earrings from Oliver Bonas, empty olive oil bottle with pourer (she loved drizzling flavoured oil on pizzas this summer - must buy chilli flakes, etc). She's hard to buy for as can afford stuff when she wants it. Will get Dior nail polish and chocs.
Nothing for OH, he doesn't really do presents or celebrating (miserable old git 🙄)

SkeletonBatsflyatnight · 19/10/2024 12:13

Very little so far. Dc1 isn't sure what he wants and dc2 wants the entirety of the Smyths catalogue.

I have bought some christmas decorations for dc2's dolls house (lights, candles, a wreath etc).
A book on diving the Britannic for dc1.
A wooden Christmas baking set for my Goddaughter's little girl

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 19/10/2024 14:20

I tend to panic and buy things and then allocate them to people (so many of my adult kids and their partners have the same interests). So I've got
A neck fan
A boot dryer
Some books on gardening and herbs
Framed photographs from our summer holiday this year
Photo printers which print photos from your phone
A sun catcher (this is for a friend who saw one when we were out and loved it)
A couple of lovely fluffy throws

I'm going to do a food hamper for my foodie son this year again, because he's asked for one. I made him one last year and he and his partner really enjoyed discovering some new flavours (I found some really obscure foods!)

I8toys · 19/10/2024 14:58

New iphones and cases for ds1 and ds 2

Rituals gift sets for mum, auntie and work colleagues

Nothing for dh, dad or in laws yet

MissyB1 · 19/10/2024 15:47

Eldest Adult Ds &Dil so far

CharlotteStreetW1 · 19/10/2024 16:02

I bought a decoration (beaded star) from a Masai woman in Tanzania. I'm hoping it wasn't made in China...

And that's it so far.

This year I only have to buy for DH (no DC) and the couple who are hosting us for Christmas lunch. Oh and MIL falls to me 🤨 She's 93 and wants/needs nothing. Sigh.

Poor DH will probably get clothes as usual.

Does it matter? I think people (except you perhaps) understand what the op means.

Yes, it does matter. Words are important and it's basic English. OP means bought (buy), not brought (bring). We all make mistakes and that's fine, but no need to pretend it doesn't matter.
