Thanks @Felith for the title!

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

It's possibly a little bit niche but I've been watching this for a while and it's now half price - koala stationery set at Superdrug - now £5. Go through TCB.

Fairyliz · 14/10/2024 16:21

Sarah Raven has 20% off with code GAR24SEPT.
Might be useful for gardening enthusiasts.

JamMakingWannaBe · 14/10/2024 16:22

Apologies - image didn't attach. Koala stationery set.

I'm doing my own head in but I am sure someone on here posted about a precision screwdriver kit. You could use it to fix glasses etc. Does anyone know what I mean or have I totally made it up that I've seen it on here! (This is a possibility 🤣)

Every year glasses repair kits pop up. They’ve been very popular in our house

Heads up: Soccer03 is now Soccer04. Grin

Has anyone used this site? Is it reliable?

any idea on sizing if they are normally a size 2xl is M&S say?!?

thank!

kpfragglesrock · 14/10/2024 18:01

@Zayflower

Yes, I've used it a few times - just waiting for another order at the moment. Not sure about adult sizes, but I used the size guide to order for my kids and it's been accurate.

weareallqueens · 14/10/2024 18:08

@Zayflower What I got from them seems great although I keep meaning to go into JD Sports to compare quality.

DH is normally L so I sized up to XL and it looks accurate.

cheesychipsontheoche · 14/10/2024 18:19

Footballsbest4u are good for lesser known teams - although quality is variable

PurpleSkittle · 14/10/2024 18:24

@Ewock I've just bought this precision screwdriver set from Ikea (as I'm trying to replace a phone screen which has teeny tiny Torx screws). It's brilliant, has loads of different types and sizes, and would be good for a range of fiddly tasks like glasses. Seems like a bargain for £5.

Thank you @evtheria and @IntergalacticP for the kindle/Amazon info.

Another question for the hive mind please - gifts for secondary school teachers? I’m guessing this probably isn’t the done thing but my ds has had a lot of support since starting Y7 this year and I’d like to get a little something for a few of the teachers to say thank you. I think he’d die of embarrassment having to take the gifts in himself so needs to be something small I can leave at the office. They’re all female. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Budget around £10 each.

Throw throw burrito Extreme outdoor edition is £8.90 on Amazon which I know has been popular in previous threads

Brilliant, my boys will love this!

Boots have some lovely gift sets in their 3 for 2 offer, quite a few treaclemoon which I've seen mentioned a few times in these threads (they are lovely to be fair!) for around £10 or under
Or Tesco have this one for £6.50 with clubcard

This Nivea set looks quite nice too 🙂

Alternatively, there's Costa cups and such in Tesco, B&M etc or could do the safer option of a Starbucks/Costa gift card?

PoisedGoldBiscuit · 14/10/2024 10:22

Not a massive bargain as such, but if anyone is doing matching Xmas PJs, Asda have just stocked their designs in most sizes and seem to be very reasonably priced

Thank you so much for the heads up @PoisedGoldBiscuit

I previously got them in cream but didn’t like the colour so much. I have now ordered the navy and will return the others.

Mojodojocasahous · 14/10/2024 19:10

@ShangPie Thank you for the top tip it is on the Lego site so will keep my eyes peeled for a top cashback offer/deal from Smyths

Donsyb · 14/10/2024 19:11

Looking for any discounts I can find for RM Williams if anyone knows of any!

Oh that's interesting, I was looking at the cream too! Did the quality seem OK?

Yes, the quality is excellent. Nice mid-weight cotton, stretchy and decently sized, and the print is nice and well done.

issantahereyet · 14/10/2024 19:23

This looks quite sweet

Scarf could be nice if you know their initials?

Coffee trio

Glasses

M&S tins are also an option? Christmas designs are always lovely!

Did anyone else get the wooden trolly from Morrisons? Was very excited to get it mid morning with no queues or stress, but it’s rubbish quality - the holes didn’t line up for screwing it together 😥

if anyone has bought it for Christmas, I would suggest putting it together now

@wibdib great post! I have the oil bottle you mentioned above and agree it's brilliant. I'm giving one to my parents this year for Christmas it's so useful.

@wibdib what a great list!
@gaggiagirl

Will this bottle work for sunflower oil? it's more runny than olive oil and I'm in never-ending search of some magic bottle which won't be messy when pouring
