It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

The slippers come to £19.60 is that right?

Waffles21 · 07/10/2024 16:54

@TheRedheadMummy i love the royal blend tea! They also do some amazing biscuits in Fortnums as well as delicious jam, loveky for a hamper. My son has done a couple of French exchanges and we’ve sent shortbread which goes down well. How about a Christmas pudding or mince pies?

@Skullerymaid santa brought a chocolate fountain last year. At first the children were disappointed as it looked so much smaller than the ones they had seen out. But they were delighted that it worked so well and they realised that a big one would need tonnes of chocolate to work.

Everyone we mentioned it to said "it'll be horrible to clean" but it's honestly fine, just pop all the bits in hot soapy water as soon as its done. Yes you need to add oil to keep the chocolate flowing. Tastes fine though and the children were so pleased.

The one we had was previously on argos, but I can currently only see on amazon. Think it it waa about £20/£25

@Ewock Thank you, we have crocodile visit on the cards for next year and next Easter he is doing a zoo keeper day.
So much easier when plastic reptiles were enough 😆

Argos has 20% off a lot of gaming furniture until 9th Oct with code Gaming20. I’ve gone for the X Rocker gaming chair (removed link as it shows postcode).

Edited

Thanks for this!! I’ve been looking for a gaming chair for my son but they are so expensive

@issantahereyet yay for getting the clicky link to work 👌

issantahereyet · 07/10/2024 17:18

Sorry, me with yet another question 🫣

Looking for a birthday gift for one of the boys in the family, it's just before Christmas so budget is around £15. I've been having a little look at the Lego Minecraft sets which I think may be a safe bet, but problem is I don't know which one looks best. My little boy isn't old enough to be into Lego or Minecraft yet so completely lost!
Has anyone got any experience with any of the sets or able to suggest which one may be best? He'll be turning 9 if that matters

Gustavo1 · 07/10/2024 17:20

Thanks so much for the slippers deal. Got an order in, supposedly for MIL but if I get the more exciting ones I might keep them myself. They look beautiful.

Just a note that the Morrisons toys are cheaper in store than online. The doll in the carry cot was £15 in my local store today.

@issantahereyet yay for getting the clicky link to work 👌

We're just at the tail end of a house wide virus, so I'm going to blame it on the brain fog from that and pregnancy brain 🙈

Forgot to say thank you for taking the time to show us! 😊

Would the mini zoologist be interested in taxidermy? They even have a DIY kit

Has anyone had the Onaie slippers before? Just wondering what the sole is like. I’m in the market for a new pair of slippers but need them to have a bit of support ideally. I love the look of the bootie ones!

issantahereyet · 07/10/2024 17:56

Anyone buying from Smyth's and wanting to take advantage of their current offer, it may be worth making multiple transactions/trips. I know it's a headache doing it that way, but all savings help!

Just thought I'd mention it as a couple of years back, the thought wouldn't have even crossed my mind!

I don't know if I'm doing this right (Also, Guylian are my fav chocolates and I was unaware you could get them at bargain prices in B&M.)

I also buy a knock-off Guylian from Lidl/Aldi - They are 2.99 a box, look just like them, there's around 30 chocolates in the box (maybe less!) And sometimes taste even nicer...they are in a white box, cannot remember the name, clear plastic on top showing seashell and seahorse shaped, marbled chocolate inside.

Also, I have this link for a Salter hot chocolate maker down from £70 to £34:

Check out their duvet covers and bed spreads down to £20! Love Robert Dyas.

@DirtyDensDog are you on this thread? I know my vodafone code didn't work for you for the Gruum set, it must have been nabbed by someone else. Did you manage to get one from someone else though?

DirtyDensDog · 07/10/2024 18:14

@mummydoris2006 no I didn't manage to get a Vodafone code in the end. I would have loved to have got the Gruum set.

Timelass · 07/10/2024 18:16

@ShinyPrettyThings87 Thanks, I think last years crocodile was actually from Etsy
So I will try that next .
@AndSoFinally 😂

I still call it a marathon!
Even when I see a snickers in the celebrations box...I still say...I will have all the marathon's! 😂

@sillygoof I have a pair that I got from ILs last Xmas.

They don’t have a supportive sole but it has a kind of cup shape that lifts up around the sides to stitch into the top of the slipper. The pics show this, and the sheepskin lining means your feet are supported, but it’s not a ‘support’ sole like a Birkenstock IYSWIM
