Christmas jigsaw

Once a year, because I don't have time the rest of the year, I treat myself to a challenging but not impossible Christmas jigsaw.

This is my only indulgence whilst doing most for all. So I am very keen to keep up the chill time with Baileys I have carved out.

The image is important.

Ones that have made me most happy are:
Northern lights over a Christmas icy log cabin scene
Nordic houses with ice skating in front
Snow trees with houses with inviting lights on

Santa, twee at a minimum.

The ones I can see this year so far are either
Too easy
Too twee

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Look at Wentworth puzzles. Wooden, with beautiful "whimsy" pieces scattered through, usually themed for the image.
These are our Christmas treat: not cheap but are something to keep and treasure.

I've seen a lot of jigsaws in charity shops, and they are not expensive and you always have that tingling fear that one or more pieces may be missing.

It's that sort of 'living on the edge' feeling that I thrive on...

I have a brand new one I don't want. It's not opened and it is a Christmas scene. If you're interested let me know.

Do you like the WasJigs ? I love them and they do a great Christmas range. You get one view of a scene but the picture is actually from the perspective of someone in the scene so you have to imagine what they are seeing https://wasgij.com

they're fiendishly tricky

I have a plate of sprouts jigsaw! Some are wearing santa hats and some have googly eyes!! It's fab!!

Eddielizzard · 03/10/2024 20:10

We also used to buy Wentworth puzzles. They have such lovely, interesting pieces, not only your 4 sided shapes. V expensive so we don't get them every year, but they are much loved

grafittiartist · 03/10/2024 20:15

We had an advent one last year- each day had a little bag to complete.

Maybe it depends on the picture

I will check out wentworth now let's see how much they are

Check out The House of Puzzles. Some really nice Christmas scenes on their website! Will probably purchase a couple for my dad who is a sucker for a puzzle!

frozendaisy · 03/10/2024 21:05

Wentworth had a lovely one but at £63 for 500 pieces i would do that in a day.

I should have been more specific
1000 pieces

Might have to get one shipped from USA!

Trying house of puzzles

I'm keen to get this decision ticked off

I love the Elena Essex Christmas Cornucopia puzzle, but bright gradient puzzles are my thing! Winter Spirit was more challenging for me, but less overtly Christmassy.

WYorkshireRose · 03/10/2024 21:25

Have you considered an advent calendar? I got one similar to this for my DMum last year and she really enjoyed doing it:

A galison jigsaw. They look lovely when completed. I tend to do 500 piece ones as I have limited time but they do make 1000 pieces. They have shiny foil bits and the pieces are good quality.

Floralnomad · 03/10/2024 21:44

Galison jigsaws are really good quality .

Light In The Box have some interesting jigsaws

lhatemonopoly · 04/10/2024 01:01

l have a Flower Fairies Christmas Tree Fairy to do, bought in a charity shop earlier in the year. It is 1000 pieces, only just realised it is circular, which might be a pain as won't fit so well on a rectangular board. Only available second hand now l think, eg ebay link

Toomanysquishmallows · 04/10/2024 05:07

Hi , I’ve just bought the Lawrence king , “ the world of Christmas “ puzzle . It’s 1000 pieces and has scenes from various Christmas stories .

Viviennemary · 04/10/2024 07:45

What about a wooden wentworth jigsaw. They are expensive. Usually a few Christmas ones on ebay. Still expensive but cheaper than new ones.

Toomanysquishmallows · 04/10/2024 07:53

Apologies, the puzzle is called “ a book lovers Christmas “
