I feel like this year is going to be my year of terrible cheesy Christmas pun thread titles Xmas Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

@Flubadubba Thanks, that’s a great price and something I don’t think my Frozen obsessed niece would have already!

If you can wait a few weeks for delivery, it's great. Dd (5) loves slushies. Not so into Frozen these days, but once she realises it's for slushies, she won't care!

@Justwingingit2005 can you help me with the samples please? I must be doing something wrong as I can't find them🤷🏻‍♀️ I've put samples into the search bar and it just tells me I can buy samples before buying a full size, but I can't find them anywhere 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thanks.

I have just started my shopping! Plan is a few bits each week between now and Christmas. There are some lovey bits on the TKMax website, I purchased two sets of the HERMES H24 EDT 115ml
RRP £84.60
Save £34.61

Absolute bargain. I think there are only a few left now in stock. Really pleased with my bargains!

Could anyone give me an idea of what size White Fox hoodie to get for a teen who is in Hollister XL clothes?

TIA

Does anyone have any ideas for Charcuterie type gifts?
Got MIL lovely scarf and gloves from the heritage of Scotland sale (thanks whoever posted about that!) But would like to get FIL something just for him that he won't end up sharing, we got him a nice cheese board last year.

Great sale at Carrie Elspeth. I’ve ordered from them quite a few times and always impressed. Sale
Last year they came with a nice card and jewellery bag explaining how they are a small Welsh business- made nice gifts.

Thank you! Sorted my cousin and my best friend.

Sweet tooth:
Bags of sweets, boxes of filled mochi, jelly/pudding mix (in cooking area rather than sweets aisle), tinned soft drinks
Savoury:
Different ramen or tteokbokki (sp?) pots/packets, furikake seasoning to put on rice or eggs, flavoured crisps
Other:
Soju (booze), flavoured hot drinks (eg. sachets of Malaysian kopi, chinese roasted barley teas, Korean citron in jar), or a nice chopsticks and bowls set

Thanks so much for your list! Very helpful. Didn't see the soju so may need a return trip. The prices were actually very reasonable so I also stocked up on things like noodles and prawns (640g bag of large prawns for £7), which means I should have more money to spend on Xmas!

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 15/09/2024 16:39

@Fluffbrush thanks for that link, something abit more interesting to put into sons/nephews Christmas crackers!

DreamHolidays · 15/09/2024 16:54

@ChristmasMad1 food is often a good answer.
One with an ‘upmarket, I wouldn’t normally buy that’ food he normally enjoys.

I want to get DD a hot food flask thingy. Do people recommend Sho? Or another brand?

The SHO is much lighter but have a look at how long they keep stuff hot for. The Stanley ones keep stuff hot for a long time but much heavier.

ImTheMidsomerMurderer · 15/09/2024 17:12

@Fluffbrush thanks so much 🥰 some great sets there!

hby9628 · 15/09/2024 17:27

@Calmthefuckdown the jewellery rolls on Katie Loxton look nice. They've not got the birthstone colours I need though but I don't think that would matter....
Tempted for my sil as she's travelling more for work these days.

hby9628 · 15/09/2024 17:29

Ahh I've just noticed it has the month inscribed inside it. What a shame

ItWasOnAStarryNight · 15/09/2024 17:38

Thanks for Carrie Elspeth Sale. 4 necklaces, 3 bracelets, 3 pairs of earrings delivered for £43!

rhubarbhandsoap · 15/09/2024 17:51

@Livinginacatdictatorship maybe some mezze bowls? Or a set of cheese knives. Or port glasses and a bottle of port (or whatever he likes with his cheese / charcuterie) 🎄

Cupofteaandbiscuits · 15/09/2024 17:52

I saw this on a Facebook group. I know someone on here wanted the babycinno set. Maybe try the range if they are doing other costa stuff? These sets were £15 though!

If you’re thinking of a bottle of port, I often gift the M&S one (which is usually on offer on the run up to Christmas) and is always well received

We use the Thermos 'King' food flasks, have 2 of them.
They work very well but we do actually preheat the flasks by filling with boiling water for at least 15' beforehand, then emptying and immediately filling with steaming hot food. Then they last for Dp's very long shifts at work. Can hold nearly a full carton of the Covent Garden soups, for reference ;) and we paid about £14-18 for each flask.
