I feel like this year is going to be my year of terrible cheesy Christmas pun thread titles Xmas Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

@Sideorderofchips Are you me? Haha, this has happened to me in the past. It’s a great bonus to find them!

@RainbowZebraWarrior Thanks for the book recommendation, I wouldn’t have thought to even look for something like this but I’ve ordered 2; one for someone who is quite difficult to buy for but this will be right up their street!

watchuswreckthemic · 13/09/2024 22:52

Last question for today ha ha! Bitzee seemed to be popular last year (along with those cookie oven things)- good gift or not? Thank you

PurpleSock · 13/09/2024 22:54

I was in TK Max earlier and they had loads of these mermaid tail blankets for £20. Loads of different colours & styles available too!

@Summerdew I totally missed that perfume post. I've just looked at the website & it's brilliant. I've ordered some samples for me if some perfumes I've wanted to try for ages

What perfume site is that? Do you have the link? I can't seem to find it on the thread 🤦🏻‍♀️🙈

For Swiftie fans, the discount code WELCOME10 takes 10% off the official merchandise from the website

The black friendship bracelet hoodie is back in stock.

Still expensive even with 10% off!

Anyone got an idea for a main gift for 5 year old. She has older siblings so usual toys we already have. Budget £150.

It needs to be good, because I bought her sibling something really amazing, but cannot for the life of me think of a main gift for her.... it doesn't need to hit budget obviously, but needs to look like a main gift to ensure perceived fairness between siblings.
Thanks super people

Might not be quite wow enough but I just bought my 4.5 year old DD1 a Kidizoom Studio camera and put it aside for Christmas. Was £35 in Argos, I had a £5 off code then a £5 voucher that brought it down to £25.

Hi,

As per my earlier post: ESCENTUAL 25 gets you 25% off everything on the site atm:

I have just discovered that they have the 12 day Clarins advent calendar, as well as the Nuxe and L’Occitane ones.

Hello thanks for the bargains so far…
Wondering if anybody has any recommendations for walking boots for DH?
And have niece’s 18th coming up main presents is $ (she is going to US) but looking for something as little extra as keepsake. She is into more alternative stuff but has quite wealthy tastes! Any thoughts please?

@Slater22 can you expand on what your neice's alternative tastes are please? Just so people can suggest appropriately rather than throw out random stuff.

MilkyBadBoy · 14/09/2024 04:40

@Slater22 you’ve not long missed the 15% off everything code but there’s still 10% off and free delivery at Tresspass. There are walking boots in clearance. Code FREED10
I’d also usually recommend the scouts shop too and they had a great sale on marshmallow toasting kits last year, closer to Christmas, plus there was free p&p. The website is suddenly no longer coping well on mobile though. And might be worth waiting for the sale for some extra stocking filler bargains, if you can. All for a good cause though… Tis the season and all that…

Slater22 · 14/09/2024 04:58

i suppose I was trying to say by alternative she is more into funky/quirky than mainstream - does that make sense?

Thanks for Tresspass idea - will 👀 Hoping someone can recommend ones they have as well as no clue which brand/type etc

Alongthepineconetrail · 14/09/2024 05:06

@Slater22
It does make sense but funky/quirky can mean different things to different people. I used to collect hot wheel cars which for an 8 yr old girl was quite unusual.

What are her hobbies and interests? What does she like to do/see/watch/listen to?

DD got one of these for her 5th birthday and it is by far one of the most used gifts. OK, most of the photos are...weird, but it keeps her massively occupied!

Glenthebattleostrich · 14/09/2024 06:12

Byoma has 25% off and free delivery when you buy 4 products. My teenager loves them so have stocked her stocking with them.

JenniferGreenHat · 14/09/2024 06:51

Free candle at Whistlefish this weekend, when you spend £20. Really nice quality cards - and the Christmas ones are online now too.

Does anyone know of a way (or a good idea) for putting together photos for a gift. My daughter wants to do it for her brother (21) for Christmas so maybe an app or something so she can do it and get a frame? Anymore creative things she could do. He wouldn’t want a cushion or a blanket. X

How about a poster or photo book? Usually loads of offers around on sites like vistaprint or photo box nearer to black friday/Xmas (though also year round)

Flubadubba · 14/09/2024 07:46

Smiggle had a special section for selected items at 5 for £5 when I popped in yesterday. Great for stocking fillers (5 year old DD loves cute pens, rubbers etc atm)...

That's good to know. Both my 4 and almost 3 year old love taking photos on our phones and my dad's proper camera so hoping it'll be a hit.

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 14/09/2024 08:06

After the talk of the kiddizoom, Can anyone recommend a children's camera please for a 7 year old? Not really bothered about the instant print as he would print anything and everything meaning running through paper (or whatever it is) extremely quickly!!
Thank you!

Flubadubba · 14/09/2024 08:10

@InDreamland the one thing j would say is that it seems to eat batteries (the way DD uses it at least!) So make sure your have plenty around. It takes 4 at a time as well...

Thanks for the tip. I really need to invest in some rechargeable batteries. Maybe I need recommendations for those. We do get through a lot of batteries in this house.

Don't know what the budget is, but an Aura photo frame.
We got one for my nan for her birthday. You connect it to the WiFi, one person is the "owner" and sends out a text link for an app and then you can put on as many photos as you want!
It's so good that we are getting one for Christmas for ourselves for all the phone photos of the kids and family! Xx
