Morning all :)

Had a lovely day yesterday hosting the village’s coffee morning and then having friends round for dinner. Today is the church picnic but the weather is not looking good!

Looks really nice this coming week though so will finally tackle the garden after a summer of neglect. My tomatoes are still very green so like @NoCheesesForUsMeeces there is no point hanging onto them.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 15/09/2024 08:20

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!

NoWordForFluffy · 15/09/2024 09:36

I think our tomatoes are doomed to failure too. Which is a shame, but at least it's not just me. Not a single one ripened!

I'm not sure it's picnic weather, Hoping!

Our cats would go into hyperdrive and think it was their Christmas if we had loads of geese in formation -they be 'Challange Accepted'

Our dog is a gun dog. He sits watching and waiting for them to drop for retrieval! 🤣🤣

Green tomato chutney all round then.

BiddyPop · 15/09/2024 18:18

I am heading home with a couple of chilli's from DF's plastic tunnel. He was trying to give me tomatoes and apples as well but my bag was already full (I may have a small should have lamb and some locally smoked salmon snuck in there...). Flight delayed but they've just done assembly call. Huge surprise when I arrived home so that worked well 🤣

BiddyPop · 15/09/2024 18:29

I am heading home to Brussels, having been home to my DPs for the weekend (childhood home). Just realised that might have been confusing

Biddy my mum always used to ask me when I was coming "home" even after I'd lived away for longer than I'd lived at home 😂

100

Eek!

Up for the dog walk, though the farmer woke us at 5 with his harvesting shenanigans! Thankfully we did get back to sleep for a bit.

Misty out. Autumnal! 🍂 🍁

Wow, 100 🥳

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. It was like summer here over the weekend, we went to the beach yesterday.

I wanted to be a lot more productive than I actually was this weekend. Both DC have a class, we went to see MIL/FIL, then the beach yesterday, baths, changing all beds etc. I did manage 7 loads of washing. It seems to leave no time for any additional tasks at all. I want to join the cleanalong but have nothing to write yet!

I did put Autumn bedding on our bed - the duvet cover has leaves, pinecones and pumpkins on, and the sheet does too. It’s from Next - totally over the top, but I got it this year anyway.

Lovely beach Jennifer.

I'm doing trumpets for the 100!!!! 🎅

Gorgeous water @JenniferGreenHat!

very much season of mists and mellow fruitfulness outside my bedroom window this morning :)

The sun has burnt the mist off already. It is going to be a lovely day. Am going to crack on with the gardening, then drop DH off at the station as he is off to London and then this evening is my first session as a Cub leader, very nervous!

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2024 10:24

I'm glad our mist burned off. It was rather thick first thing!

Im envious of the nice weekend weather. It rained almost all day here yesterday.

7 loads of washing is epic, @JenniferGreenHat. I thought our 5 was going some!

Similar day to the rest of you weather-wise. Bright blue sky, looks lovely but it's quite chilly.

Not sure what happened this morning but the alarm didn't go off so we both got up late (7:40 ). Both of us started work on time but it wasn't a nice start to the day (or week)!

I'm finishing work at 4 as I have an appointment. Have tea defrosting (DHs homemade turkey and leek pie) and plans this evening to clean the bathroom, put the last of the washing away and load up the car for DH to do a tip run tomorrow.

Car shopping will also be continuing. 70 I currently have a mini but it's older (and therefore a lot smaller than new ones) so I don't want to get a newer version.
We replaced DH car earlier this year with a new car but for me, I want something older because I just don't care about it that much but we're weighing up an electric car as a possibility so lots of decisions to make!

BiddyPop · 16/09/2024 13:55

Today I was also a late starter with early meetings (made them though), washing abandoned until tonight but I have at least 3 loads to do in next couple of days before I am away again. But my DM has arranged to bring a Christmas pudding with her next month when she visits, as DH and DD are coming to me this year.

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 16/09/2024 14:30

Meeces I drive an electric car and so does DD2. The prices for previously owned models are pretty good and my Octopus overnight charging gives me 200+ miles for less than a fiver. I had to overcome my prejudice about automatics though, but I really enjoy driving it now.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 16/09/2024 14:56

We have an electric car @NoCheesesForUsMeeces and it is great. Have a cheap overnight tariff so very affordable to run. I have an automatic only licence so don’t know what driving a manual is like but our electric is very smooth and easy to drive.

MonkeyTennis34 · 16/09/2024 16:04

What a fabulous thread!

Can I join? I'm suitably Christmas-obsessed 🎄🎄🎄

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/09/2024 18:52

DH told me today it was 100 days (yes dear , I am aware Xmas Grin ) he heard it on the breakfast tv news.

"You'll be planning Christmas Dinner" he said on the dribe to work.
Christmas Dinner doesn't need planning , it;s the other meals .But yes of ciurse , I have Christmas Dinner planned .

@MonkeyTennis34 is Die Hard a Christmas movie and if you don;t buy The Snowman toilet paper how do you know when Christmas officially starts ?

MonkeyTennis34 · 16/09/2024 19:09

@70isaLimitNotaTarget
Die Hard IS (apparently) a Christmas movie… —what a load of bs—

I have bought both the Snowman (his rest his soul) toilet paper AND kitchen roll but I know not of a loo roll based Christmas countdown.

Which is why I’m here.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2024 19:12

Oh dear, oh dear, @MonkeyTennis34, this kind of heresy: 'Die Hard IS (apparently) a Christmas movie… —what a load of bs—' Will get you excommunicated! Xmas Grin

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces, I know you have done stock Bruce photos, feel free to insert one at this juncture! 🤣

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2024 19:13

@70isaLimitNotaTarget, we're thinking of saltmarsh beef for Christmas dinner. The cows graze along the beach at Ainsdale, so there are very few food miles involved.

OP posts:
NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 16/09/2024 19:56

Thanks Buck and hoping. Do you mind if I ask what ones you've got please?
We're looking at older models, either leaf or a Kia something or other.
Mileage range isn't really an issue as long distances will be done in DHs car as it's newer and bigger. Am struggling with the idea of switching to an auto though!

Welcome Monkey Yay finally someone on my team about Die Hard Xmas Grin

Bruce Pic attached for the rest of you - along with the Christmas magazines I saw today BUT DID NOT BUY <proud>
