Do you still have Christmas food left?

We still have:
One panettone
One stollen
One box of stollen bites
Half a box of a cheese board
Two boxes of crackers
Three boxes of biscuits
Four bottles of mulled wine

I am sick to the back teeth of all this. We ended up with far too much food because of the generosity of our guests who couldn't help but bring 2+ things despite being told that it was all in hand 😭

Still got stacks of cheese and a box of mince pies. I need to start my diet on Monday so the mince pies will have to be chucked unfortunately. Can't bring myself to bin the cheese though. Which I guess is why I need to diet in the first place...

00100001 · 07/01/2024 22:56

Yes!

Chocolate, biscuits, pretzels, peanuts, tube of pringles and 3 packets of crisps.
Also, cocktail sausages, pigs in blankets, sausage rolls (in freezer!)

Reason being - we've all been unwell since Christmas and been eating mostly toast and satsumas.

frenchfancy81 · 07/01/2024 22:56

Olio app- give it away if you're sick of it!

Heyhoherewegoagain · 07/01/2024 22:57

Tons of cheese but that’s not a hardship at all! Quite looking forward to the cheddar with picked onions through it!

Notfastjustfurious · 07/01/2024 22:58

Chocolate and cheese. No crackers though so send yours my way op, I promise them a good home.

SweetPalOMine · 07/01/2024 23:01

Half the cheese, and two packets of smoked salmon that DH and I separately thought were too good a bargain not to get.

Also a Toblerone and an Aldi Tobleronique that were purchased for taste test comparison reasons and which I now have to brainwash myself into forgetting where I've hidden them from my greedy self.

Oh my god you've reminded me that I have pretzels and 2 tubs of pringles too 🙈

Sorry to hear you've been poorly!

Yes, but mainly because we were away over Christmas itself, and then came home and bought a generous cheeseboard from the reduced section, and bought and made mince pies. We hosted nye, and nyd brunch, and have been eating leftovers from that a lot of the week, so we still have cheese and Christmas cake and mince pies. Had a Christmas pud today, not had any over Christmas at all.

Freeze them for next year

APurpleSquirrel · 07/01/2024 23:07

We still have various boxes of chocolates & biscuits, plus cheese & crackers, a Christmas pudding & some spiced apple juice. We're slowly working our way through it Grin

Or, if they're still in date, give them to a food bank?

Peridot1 · 07/01/2024 23:08

Some cheese left but that will go this week.

a whole Christmas cake but I think we will gradually eat that over the next few weeks.

various chocolates but again will get through gradually.

two packs of smoked salmon went into the freezer.

APurpleSquirrel · 07/01/2024 23:09

Oh & the Christmas cake - which I still need to marzipan & ice 😬

KangarooCapturer · 07/01/2024 23:09

Not much now. I've been encouraging the dc to get rid though.

'Mum can I have an apple?'

'Mmmm...how about opening that Selection box instead?' 😂😂

New2024 · 07/01/2024 23:15

I don’t regard having stuff acquired over the festive season still heft in January as a problem. Most of it is dated March if cake/biscuit etc. It’s not on sale for 2024 until October. I enjoy eating it and relaxing

CheersToAMerryChristmas · 07/01/2024 23:16

The unopened Xmas pudding (will keep for next time)
Unopened brandy butter - suggestions welcome!
Two boxes of cheese crackers
Bag of lebkuchen
A giant toblerone, box of chocs and the dregs of QS/Heroes/Lindor
Loads of booze and soft drinks and mixers
Some cranberry sauce and Stilton which are being used up in toasties
Leftover ham and lamb in the freeze awaiting a new purpose

Oh and the unused 2022 gingerbread house kit which I really must throw out

@Fallenangelofthenorth what date are they? If in date why not put in a food bank/take to work/give to a neighbour?

@00100001 I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you're all on the mend now & can enjoy your Christmas treats.

Origamiheaven · 07/01/2024 23:18

I freeze mincepies and cheese every year.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2024 23:19

We ended up with far too much due to my Boxing Day family buffet being cancelled as H had covid over Xmas- but had already done the food shop .

Tbh you don't even need to freeze them. It's only a best before & I liked them even more!!

mrsfollowill · 07/01/2024 23:20

Just cheese, crackers and chocolate which we are slowly getting through. To be fair these are things we have in our house year round- it's just fancier than normal everyday cheese and chocolate!

Diplidocus4 · 07/01/2024 23:24

@APurpleSquirrel
Me too ! Christmas cakes age well though !

familyissues12345 · 07/01/2024 23:24

Box of biscuits
Half a pack of crackers

Pack of pigs in blankets - in freezer

BrightBlueFlamingo · 07/01/2024 23:24

Twiglets, just remembered I've got a tub of Twiglets somewhere, oooh life is good😂
