It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

Brighton carparks probably are - when DH and I went a couple of years ago we booked a hotel with its own car park and walked rverywhere .

WreckTangled · 27/03/2024 19:44

I usually get a parking spot with Just Park but didn’t want dd to walk any further than she had to so used the shoppers car park. Still way cheaper than the NCP. And the parking spaces were tiny.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2024 19:55

Evening!

I've never been to Brighton. Bit of a trek from up here now too! The parking sounds bonkers though. 😬

We've had sleety hail storms this evening. It's been bloody cold today as well.

Last day at work tomorrow until a week on Monday. Whoop whoop!!

Morning eveyone, hope you are all well.

Horrible rain and wind combination where I am today. Dog giving me the hard stare so I'll have to brave it.

I would love to visit Brighton, a bit of a trek but I'm curious to see what it's like😀

WreckTangled · 28/03/2024 07:02

It’s like London but with a beach and no posh parts.

WreckTangled · 28/03/2024 07:02

It’s like London but with a beach and no posh parts.

And a really nice Vegan Fish &Chip Shop ( "No Catch")

DH and I went in the October a couple of years ago , loads of people go down to the beachfront to walk ( and everyone seems to own a dog !) Grin
Unfortunately there was a bin collection strike so huge piles of stinking rubbish in the streets that weekend (luckily it wasn't summer , imagine the stench and the rats;n;flies )

I'm not convinced Brighton is worth the trip! Isn't the beach pebbly too?

We're having all seasons in one day. Chucking it down for the dog walk. Now sunny, but forecast rain again soon.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 28/03/2024 10:30

No I don’t think it’s worth it from where you are fluffy! There was also a French trip there yesterday, about 100 of them, all in the shops and pushing/not looking where they were going/generally being rude.

Spencer0220 · 28/03/2024 13:28

I haven't been to Brighton in donkeys years!!

I think DH might enjoy a trip. But he has a brain injury and he's going through one of his "too scared to leave the house" phases. It's exhausting.

Once we're out, he loves it though.

Shame it's over Easter. He has a week off work.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 29/03/2024 07:07

271 Morning. We're flying home today. Sorry to say, I don't rate Turkey at all and was glad to leave (we flew on to somewhere else (pre-planned) after 2 days). Felt very dodgy, food etc wasn't great.

Glad to be going home for a few days then off again next week for a few days.

I've done a 1 day trip to Brighton on the way to somewhere else and thought it was a fun stop. There were lots of independent quirky shops that I liked - this was years ago though so could be totally different now.

WreckTangled · 29/03/2024 08:19

Sorry you didn’t have a great time meeces

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2024 10:03

Morning!

Glorious morning this morning (bit chilly, mind). At least it was a dry dog walk other than the big muddy pools of water the dog found to frolic in!

I've never fancied Turkey, tbh. Though I've been to Egypt and some parts there felt a bit dodgy too.

Housework day today, plus I need to go to the supermarket for a top up shop and alcohol.

Spencer0220 · 29/03/2024 13:40

Where are you off to next @NoCheesesForUsMeeces ?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2024 17:07

Ahh its a shame you didn't like Turkey meeces I suppose a lot depends on the part of Turkey you go to ( I went to Antalya area years ago but much prefer Bodrum)

Did not enjoy Egypt at all I'd need to be well bribed to go back .

I got the vibes from our MaleCat that he was ver' ver' disenchanted with me .
I gave the cats Dreamies , then later he wandered through to the kitchen to pester DH for treats . But I was sitting there ... his little male brain was whirring Oh I'd like more Dreamies and I can ask Dad but SHE is sitting there and she KNOWS I've had some his brow was furrowed .
I did try and get in their good books later with a smidgeon of Philly cheese , they were grateful for a nanosecond . <sigh>

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 29/03/2024 17:47

We are finally home. Made great time with flights and getting out of the airport but the traffic was horrendous 😱 Turned our usual 2 hour drive into 3 and a half!

On a festive note, as per my tradition, I picked up some Christmas decs from our trips to add to the collection Xmas Smile

Our trips are city based for sightseeing/experience - resort or beach type holidays aren’t really my thing.
We have a few cities on the list for the next week or so - Prague, Athens, Berlin, Paris. Have done some but not all before.
In turkey we went to Istanbul as it was on our ‘to see’ list.
DH didn’t mind it but it just wasn’t for me, although I did enjoy the Blue Mosque and had a custom made leather strap for a bag I’ve had for ages but never used as the strap was too short. Was a bargain too.

70 I did Cairo as a late teen with my parents. Loved the sights and could have spent a week in the museum but hated everything else.
Didn’t help that I’d died my hair blonde not long before we went and I was then a nicely shaped teen. I felt very unsafe.
DH wants to go and I’ve agreed one day we’ll do a 1 day stopover on the way to somewhere else so he can see the pyramids and the museum but that’s it.

Anyway, home now. I have a glass of wine. Will drink it, consider putting a wash on, shower, pjs, chill and early night 🥱

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2024 21:49

You can sleep in your own bed tonight Meeces
At least your Turkish holiday didn't turn out like my last trip there .... 7 day holiday with DH turned into a 16 day hospital stay for me .....!

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2024 22:16

What happened, 70?

My parents' friend had an emergency abdominal issue in Turkey once. She ended up staying in hospital for a while too!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2024 22:24

Ooh this was 4-5 years ago , Fluffy I had an in-flight pneumothorax which resulted in an emergency drain then a second surgery .
Scary time and no more flying for me !

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2024 22:28

Oh yes. I think I remember that now!

Are you all recovered (other than no flying)?

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2024 22:33

Yes recovered well , I do have a couple of scars that give me like an electric shock if I touch them (so I don't touch them Xmas Grin )

Cruises /buses./trains/driving now .
And EuroStar

It's curbed my travelling but a small price to pay

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2024 23:02

Ha! I had the same conversation about not touching a scar, as it feels like I'm burrowing into the depths of my arm, with my surgeon this week. I hate touching it, so I don't. 🤣

Another glorious day today. We had a corker of a hail / thunderstorm yesterday afternoon though! Thankfully DH got the washing in before it came down (we could see it travelling across the fields opposite towards us, which was weird!).

Cleaning again today. Plus making a couple of desserts for dinner tomorrow.

DD and I braved Oxford Street today , we really only wanted Uniqlo and the huge Primark at Marble Arch .

Sadly , Oxford Street is a bit of a sad shithole now , I haven't been for ages and I have no reason to go back I think .

I didn't fancy the M25 today . The trains were busy / restrictions for engineering works .
Got some nice things in Uniqlo though so glad we ventured out there .

WreckTangled · 30/03/2024 19:58

We prefer a shopping centre for shopping now, oxford street is dirty and too busy. The city centre where we live is horrendous. The only clothes shops suitable for dd and I are H&M and a tiny new look, it’s awful!

I went to Aldi today rather than Sainsburys. It was much cheaper but I still prefer Sainsburys…

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 30/03/2024 21:18

We are on our way home after a weekend visiting family. Had a lovely trip to the seaside this morning with glorious sunshine.
