Countdown to Christmas 2024: And So We Begin (Thread 1)

It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

We don’t have a shop yet either fluffy I don’t think it’ll be long though. Nearest is about 15 minute walk away currently and is on a rather questionable estate.

I’m not a fan of Asda really. I find it really expensive but I think that might be because we don’t have one so whenever I go I get carried away 😅

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 28/02/2024 20:34

My Asda rewards were similar Fluffy. £281 earned last year and already up to nearly £60 after zeroing it at Christmas. It's definitely better than clubcard.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/02/2024 20:42

Clubcard is rubbish!

We're only up to about £39 so far, but I've not been as much as getting to town is a bit of a mission from here. I'll go more now that it's an easy walk to the new one.

Our nearest shop is Waitrose inside Dobbies (no chance!), then the big Tesco. Just across the roundabout from Tesco is Aldi and now Sainsbury’s.

I tend to do Click and Collect Wreck for precisely that reason. That way I don't get distracted by George and Homewares

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 28/02/2024 20:52

Ooh Buck I didn't know that there might be a Sainsbury's local on your estate, I would definitely visit that.

I am woman down as well, I am off sick but with my fibro not a cold/flu thingy.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/02/2024 21:09

The new Sainsbury's isn't showing on C&C yet. I assume it's because they've not updated the website properly yet.

I'll probably do two C&C per week, splitting the shopping more evenly, as it's £25 minimum for that, rather than £40 for delivery. I generally shop twice, so it should work out ok.

300**

Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

That @NoWordForFluffy is so giddy with excitement at her new local Sainsbury .

I just told my DS the good news about 300 Days , he was less than thrilled sad to say (but he was cooking his dinner , his little Male Brain can only concentrate on One Thing At A Time

NoWordForFluffy · 29/02/2024 19:36

I'd be more giddy if they'd sort C&C out. I don't wanna go traipsing round all the time! 🤣

300 is exciting. Not as exciting as 299 tomorrow though!

My observation has been many of the Easter products in supermarkets, tins of biscuits ,tubs of quality street etc have long expiry dates.

My secret plan is to wait for them to be reduced after Easter then buy in bulk to take on hols and also stash away for Christmas with the snowman loo roll 🤔

Does anyone know if the Supermarkets are likey to stock fresh turkey's for Easter? I fancy clelebarting a quarter Christmas day , is that a thing, if not can it now be one 🎅.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/02/2024 22:02

D'you know , cut price post Easter EasterEggs was a thing when I was a kid (and all this was fields)
Now they get the stock out so early they sell out before Easter (unless you want the really last resort ones )

The past few years I don't think I've seen any cut price ones < sob>

Into the 200s! 🎅🏻 🎄 😮

DD got her secondary school place today. God knows how she goes to high school in Sept!

TFIF is my feeling for today!

Eugh the weather is dire again. It’s exhausting doing a 60 mile round trip on flooded dual carriage ways every day, I’m so glad it’s Friday too.

Dd was feeling really awful yesterday poor thing, this cold has completely floored her, she slept for four hours and only woke up because I phoned her at 4pm.

Spencer0220 · 01/03/2024 11:34

Hope you got the school you wanted @NoWordForFluffy

NoWordForFluffy · 01/03/2024 11:44

We did, Spencer!

Glad people got the school they wanted. I have been signed off for two more weeks, the Dr was glad he doesn't work where I do, which was quite amusing. At least he was ok to me unlike the last one I saw. I now have even more medication, I will need to build an extension to house all my tablets etc 😂

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 01/03/2024 16:22

Posting as noticed we were on 666 posts 😳

Finally starting to feel better today (but still off work). DH went back in today though.

Weather here is awful but the sound of rain has lulled me to sleep twice so far today.

Glad you got the school place you wanted Fluffy and why I hope your illness eases up soon.

WreckTangled · 01/03/2024 16:42

why I hope the medication helps a bit. Dd is having more bloods next week then we’re getting a referral to the nearest centre that can offer support which is 100 miles away but at least it’s on the NHS.

The weather here has been awful too! I may have had a little snooze on the sofa this afternoon…

Ds got his school choice too, we’re out of catchment now so I’m relieved.

SpecialK24 · 01/03/2024 22:49

Hi you lovely people, I’m sorry this isn’t Christmas related as such but I thought you may be able to help. Does anyone recognise what barbie set this doll is from? Yesterday my daughter accidentally stood on it and broke the arm off, I’ve super glued it back on but she was so upset and can’t play with her properly now so I want to get a new one.

Spencer0220 · 02/03/2024 08:13

Sorry @SpecialK24

Post somewhere like chat. I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Afternoon!

I agree, post somewhere with more traffic as they're wizards over on the busier boards at finding replacement toys!

Blooming 🥶🥶 today, and now also wet. We've been to have haircuts and collected something from Argos. The kids drove me mad going round Sainsbury's. 😩

Not sure what to do with the rest of my day. Maybe nothing much! 🤣

I ordered DH’s present, socks. Not exciting but

AdoraBell · 02/03/2024 15:50

Pressed Post accidentally 🤦‍♀️

He always needs socks.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/03/2024 16:11

I always get DH some M&S undies.

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/03/2024 22:22

I had a quick look on the M&S Sale site to see if I could buy some for DS Christmas (Dec 1st Box) but nothing there to suit - might be some in-store though.

DH buys his own (doesn't trust me , obvs) but DS is quite happy to get his years worth of trunks , socks (black and sports ) loungewear /pyjamas
I start in TKMaxx to see if there's any nice branded ones , then Next for their black/dark patterned ones . Socks from Next/Sainsbury / Sports Shop/Costco .

I made some crispy cakes with Mini Eggs to decorate , didn't use my Snowman cake cases (though I was tempted ) Xmas Grin
