It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

We got the kids' eggs the other week when they were on offer in Sainsbos.

36 hours until the massive new Sainsbury's opens. Wooooo!

It's been a bright but very cold day here. After my meetings finished at 1 I put my fake oodie on.

70 I love our water butts. One is behind the shed so DH has connected a hose pipe to it and we put a clip thing on the wall so the end of the hose faces up. Means the water doesn't randomly leak but I can use it without having to fill and carry watering cans (as long as it's full enough to have pressure).

I miss being having an Easter egg. I don't get one anymore as Dm feels everyone should cut down on their sugar and me and DH don't do Easter.

WreckTangled · 26/02/2024 19:49

It’s been really windy here. A few trees down including onto a bus and some people injured. Lots of flooding too after yesterday and a big Tesco closed yet again due to being flooded. It’s been so bad.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/02/2024 20:25

Your mum is twinned with ours. Poor dad has an enforced lowered sugar diet. 🙄

I am 100% going to have an Easter Egg Xmas Grin
I have cut right down on eating chocolate not stopped (because what is life without chocolate ) but only really on High Days'n'Holidays .
And it has to be the right chocolate .
For Christmas I bought Neidregger marzipan in plain chocolate and cherrys in marzipan kirsch .(box of each)

Ritter Sports marzipan when we went to see the Queen Tribute (I have to admit the chocolate enjoyment was vastly improved by watching a Freddie Mercury Look a Like )

There's a theme here ...marzipan..dark chocolate ..

I;m not buying a plain chocolate egg for me (though I'm sure there are marzipan eggs out there ...)

If they buy me chocolate for Mothers Day then I'll eat it (but they won't )

<Off to peruse Sainsbury Easter selection>

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 26/02/2024 23:20

That's awful Wreck

Fluffy my parents have split now but when they were together, dm would a lot of low cal meals - and my dad would just munch on crap (sausage rolls, crisps, pork pies) all day so he didn't care what was for tea 🙄

70 my issue is I don't like 'good' chocolate. I like rubbish chocolate. Like cadburys.
Wouldn't say no to a box of thorntons but that's about it.
I may but my own.

I'm just back from watching Rick Astley. He was so good!

belgiumchocolates · 27/02/2024 08:25

Neidregger Cherry Kirsch with Marzipan sound heaven £10?😬 I need to start dropping hints to DH

Magnoliasunrise · 27/02/2024 19:54

Niederegger Marzipan Chocolate Easter Egg Assortment, 150g (johnlewis.com)

70 I've found your perfect Easter Egg

Evening!

It was office day today. Busy, busy!

I slept badly last night, so can't see myself staying up amazingly late tonight. 😴

WreckTangled · 27/02/2024 20:10

I slept 9.5 hours last night 😅 am still tired.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/02/2024 20:10

I had under 6 hours! I'm definitely tired! 🤣

Magnoliasunrise · 27/02/2024 19:54

I was looking at that (JL often has a good selection of Niederegger )

One year I got an advent calendar in TKMaxx/HomeSense , really reduced , still in date .
24 little chocolate marzipan loaves.......Xmas Grin

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 28/02/2024 11:53

301 Checking in from my sick bed. Both me and DH are down and have had to call in sick, though I think we have different things. Mine is a weird mix of upset stomach, tight chest and cough
He's got some sort of flu-ish thing with temp, sweats, shivers, congestion. It must be bad as this os his first sick day in about 10 years - and he requested paracetamol 😮😷

I'm obviously not doing much. I'm on the sofa with the tv on to drown out DHs snoring (he's upstairs but it's loud).
I'm going to attempt some crochet at some point but that's as productive as I'll be today.

Schneekugel · 28/02/2024 13:27

Get well soon Meeces and DH.

I've never tried chocolate marzipan 70 I've only ever had marzipan as a layer on Christmas cake. I might have to try it.

Hope you and your family are safe with the wind and the floods Wreck.

I don't do Easter eggs I'm more of a hot cross buns type of person.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/02/2024 13:50

Oh no, Meeces. At least you weren't ill for Rick Astley, so you timed it OK, even though it's crap. I hope you're both better soon.

I don't like marzipan overly. I once went to the marzipan museum (it's a room!) in Tallinn though. 🤣

It's the big day: Sainsbury's has opened. Only about 8 or so years since the process started, thanks to numerous objections by a former LD MP. 🙄 I shall report back after tonight's visit!

Exciting fluffy!

Sorry you’re unwell meeces we all have a cold. Ds was the worst but isn’t so bad now, he was off his food a bit and had a horrible sore throat, cough and runny nose. Dd has it now and is feeling awful. I have it too but it’s just a sniffle and poor Dh is so, so poorly but has still managed to go out for dinner with his work mates. Such a trooper.

belgiumchocolates · 28/02/2024 19:50

Happy shopping @NoWordForFluffy

Hope @NoCheesesForUsMeeces and eveyone is feeling better

NoWordForFluffy · 28/02/2024 19:54

How brave of your DH to go out when he's on death's door, Wreck! 🙄

Sainsbury's was rammed, as you'd expect. They'd clearly not been able to re-stock due to volumes of shopping zombies people milling about the place.

I did get some nighties, but the bras I like had barely any stock, and none in my size. Maybe another day.

Hopefully the novelty wears off soon enough, as I'm not sure I can cope with that many people all over the place when I'm shopping!

I hope you soon recover @NoCheesesForUsMeeces

How was the new Sainsbo's @NoWordForFluffy ?

Tonight is wine, crochet and football

NoWordForFluffy · 28/02/2024 19:59

Rammed and annoying, Buck! 🤣 Nice to have a proper sized shop though.

OP posts:
TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 28/02/2024 20:04

Apparently we will be getting a Sainsbury's Local here when there are enough occupied houses. Given the developers can't organise getting the dog poo bins emptied in a timely manner I'm not holding my breath and getting excited about racking up the Nectar points.

WreckTangled · 28/02/2024 20:07

Ooo we don’t have any Sainsbury’s locals here. Only co-op (no big ones) and Tesco express. We have little Waitrose at a couple of garages but no one can afford that…

NoWordForFluffy · 28/02/2024 20:21

Buck, it's standard David Wilson on the dog poo bin front. I've complained via the council about it and they've said they'll increase how often they're emptied. I'll believe it when I see it though!

I wouldn't mind a Local on the estate. Maybe once the sales office is done with!

OP posts:
TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 28/02/2024 20:22

Wreck we've got two Tesco Expresses in walking distance plus a big version of every supermarket except Waitrose in the town. I prefer Asda for their loyalty program.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/02/2024 20:24

I do better with Nectar than I would with Asda, as we don't spend masses, but I do optimise my points offers. I also can't stand our Asda; it's chaotic! I make about £300 a year via Nectar.
