How far off being done is everyone…

Is the list getting smaller, in terms of shopping, wrapping, organising…

I would say I feel like I’m getting somewhere now, a few last presents for family to order, my last DD’s (I have 3) to wrap, which I was hoping to do before school broke up but not looking likely now…

I need to book cinema and ice skating, complete Sainsburys food shop and of course the big pointless house clean…😅

How is everyone else doing?

Struggling to get one thing on DD’s list, it’s not coming back in stock.
I need to have another look at what I’ve got, it doesn’t look enough.
For the food, well I’ve got a Tesco delivery booked so I guess I shouldn’t panic about that.

Wanttobeok · 14/12/2023 07:16

Need to buy one more present for DH and waiting for 2 or 3 things to arrive.

Started wrapping DS presents last night as have all his stuff now.

HairdryerMary · 14/12/2023 07:17

I've done nothing. A few stocking fillers.

pinkchampagne1 · 14/12/2023 07:18

I am struggling this year. Haven’t got much for DS2, nothing wow for DH, need something for my teenage nephew, my Dad and my BIL. I am normally much more organised but have been struggling for ideas.

BrutusMcDogface · 14/12/2023 07:18

I have got a couple of presents for two of my kids (I have four…) and that’s it. Today need to crack on.

SidekickSylvia · 14/12/2023 07:19

I'm very far from finished and have gone into panic mode. Both dh and I have large, close families and we have 4 teenagers. Yesterday we discovered that dh has family visiting from Italy (4 adults) and they'll be staying with us from 20th-23rd, I was okay until hearing this. I'm looking after a friend's 2 year old all day tomorrow - I hope she likes shopping 😬

BrutusMcDogface · 14/12/2023 07:19

Oh and I have some booze, chocolates and pigs in blankets for Christmas Day.

Wendyspotatopeeler · 14/12/2023 07:19

Almost done. Just need a Costco shop for DDs birthday cake, some gifts for DH family and Xmas food.

DustyLee123 · 14/12/2023 07:19

Does anyone else just not feel Christmassy this year, or is it just me? I wonder if it’s because work/school is still going on so close to the big day.

DingDongMerrilyOnHi · 14/12/2023 07:20

I have my sister down visiting for 4 days between now and Christmas so it’s both spurring me on to tick of jobs as some things will be be too late by the time she leaves!!

@DustyLee123 I don’t feel Christmassy at all!

I’m almost done shopping, just a few vouchers to buy and I plan to wrap this weekend. Big house clean next week, we’re having dinner elsewhere but I’ll still need to do a shop to see us through/get some nice Christmas treats.

flowertoday · 14/12/2023 07:21

All of the presents I have got are falling out of the wardrobe / are all muddled up / I have forgotten what they are. Have not wrapped anything yet.
Have got a Christmas food order slot but need to sort it out.
In fairness to myself i work long hours. It is also the first anniversary of losing my sister tomorrow. Christmas last year was awful, know I need to try hard now to get things together but it is a struggle ...

Alwaystired23 · 14/12/2023 07:21

Still got lots to do. Lots to wrap, need to get the tree up. Newd to plan my food shop and write a list. I'm a nurse so very little time off over Christmas, so a mad rush over these next few days as I have some annual leave this week.

The tree is not up yet and the house is complete mess, presents nearly bought - just one more for DD, cards not done yet. Food is partially done, but it’s not a big problem.
I’m stressed about the house and the tree.

HamsterBanana · 14/12/2023 07:28

I've done my kids presents just need to wrap.

I feel like a grinch this year as I've brought no other presents and don't plan too! Just cannot afford it. I really hope my family forgive me over it, we won't be seeing any of them Christmas Day to be fair.

Also need to clean my house to fit the kids presents in 😂 & do a small Xmas food shop.

Falalalalaa · 14/12/2023 07:32

@flowertoday sending you love x

Its 14 years since we lost my brother and this time of year is still really hard x

flowertoday · 14/12/2023 07:32

Thank you @BrutusMcDogface ❤️
I will be thinking this year of all of the people who struggle with the festive period for all sorts of reasons.
If there is one thing on my list this year it is to show kindness and thought for others. That will make Christmas better 🙏

NativityLobsterNumber4 · 14/12/2023 07:35

Just typed a post that disappeared!

Still some gifts to buy. No wrapping done yet but my partner will do it next week.

Food slots booked but not sorted. We don’t do a special clean but do have a cleaner so it’s always fine anyway.

Our son is home from uni on Friday so will feel Christmassy then. Hopefully that will spur us on to get things finished.

daffodilandtulip · 14/12/2023 07:37

Everything is brought and wrapped because I love to be ready for December so we can just watch Christmas films and eat nice snacks.

Except for the stocking. Someone needs to take away the chocolate and slap me until I wrap the bloody stocking presents. Every. Single. Year.

geoger · 14/12/2023 07:38

In his wisdom DH has decided to take our bedroom back to brick and re plaster the walls and paint and re carpet the room. He has also decided to retile the loft room bathroom. He promises he’ll be done by the 20th. He’s not even a builder and works full time in his actual job!
Dont know whether to laugh or cry - so getting ready for Christmas seems so faraway (we’ve done all the pressie shopping and some food at least)

Wendyspotatopeeler · 14/12/2023 07:42

I'm on a diet this year so I've not had any choc advent calendar, mince pies or gluhwein which feels a lot less Christmassy. I've been wrapping as I go along, only sent out cards at the weekend which is late for me. We're away in between Xmas and NY and not having anyone over for Xmas so don't need to do any big shops.

PermanentTemporary · 14/12/2023 07:43

No, but not too worried. Tbh I have shops including a Christmas tree barn a few minutes away, so if I absolutely had to I could do the whole lot in one day (I always find it helps to imagine giving everyone a box of Celebrations or a cheese/crackers hamper - tbh most of them would be delighted). I'm a lot further on than that so I'm not going to stress about it.

But then I have a cleaner. So the house is in a reasonable state. Hence I'm never as stressed any more.

WreckTangled · 14/12/2023 07:47

@DustyLee123 schools here break up tomorrow, is it next week for you? It’s been a seven week half term so everyone is exhausted. I’m hoping next week will help me feel more festive the constant rain hasn't helped.

Seven7seven · 14/12/2023 07:50

I was done regarding gifts, my bil (15) told me a few days ago that he was coming to live with us. He lives in another country and has bought a one way ticket on the 22nd dec! He had intended on living with his gd but he's 96 and very frail. So as dh is his only family in the UK, he will stay with us. He doesn't celebrate Xmas in his SEA country so we really want to give him a traditional Xmas. What do you buy for a 15 year old? we haven't seen him for 10 years no idea what he would want.
