Thanks @bizzey for the title Xmas Grin

I wondered if I might be able to pick everyone's brains as there have been some great suggestions on these threads... sadly it is likely to be my lovely dad's last Christmas with us, and he'd like to buy my 5 month old DD a beautiful children's book she can treasure for years to come. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance x

That’s so hard for you all. I am in the same boat but my children are older. Really sympathetic. I would suggest-
The wonderful things you will be - by Emily Winfield Martin,
here we are by Oliver jeffers
Both have beautiful illustrations and lovely messages
also ‘ The lost words’ has beautiful but prob better for older kids. Hope you have a lovely Christmas.

@Bookbug92
im so very very sorry.
youve had some wonderful suggestions already, my pennies worth is folio society books. They are beautiful. My personal favourite is the just so stories (from any publisher). They have classics as well as things like the night before Christmas

ChristmasJumperz · 08/12/2023 21:49

I would third the Robert Sabuda we have Alice in Wonderland and it is beautiful, my daughter treasures it.

Last year A Game of Cat and Mouth was recommended on here and I got it on offer. It's down to £15 on Amazon right now, it really was fun and we love playing it https://www.amazon.co.uk/Game-Cat-Mouth-Exploding-Kittens/dp/B08JKYR39Z

Not a bargain, but I’ve been keeping an eye on Trevor at Argos (the dinosaur from the adverts, not a person lol)) and he’s just come back in stock in my area. So chuffed I’ll get one in time for Christmas 😀

might be worth checking stock levels, if anyone else was after him.

Another really random one. Secret Santa and the wish states: I'd love a CD of music you'd like to open my mind to.

I've had the thought of the stupid ones: now this is what I call music or house trance demo beats.... But anyone have any inspiration?

I don't know anything about them

Crikey! That's open to interpretation. If it were me, I'd buy them a CD of my own favourite band (so in my case, Stereophonics) or, I'd buy the album of a celebrated local artist. Would that work? At least it would be along a local theme rather than totally random.

The only other thing I can think of is that if you can find out the year they were born, you can get CDs with all the top number ones from that year.

Typo

Morning all. The Spicery have 20% off their individual recipe kits if you get 6+. Full price is £3.25 each.

They also have the same discount on the One Pot recipe kits if you buy 6+; full price is £2 each.

I got a very welcome extra 10% off for spending over £20 - didn’t need a code - and there is free postage if spending over £12.

I don’t have a referral code but I think there are some in the referral thread.

Everything I’ve ever had from them has been delicious 😍The Spicery

Japanese Katsu Curry with Pickles

Curry or ‘karē’ is one of the national dishes of Japan (though it didn’t exist there until the British introduced curry powder just over 100 years ago), and there are three main forms in which it is commonly served: karē raisu (curry over rice), karē u...

I'm going through something similar, and I'm sorry you are going through this. Can i suggest whichever book you choose, get your dad to read it and record it. I'm about to do this with every member of my family and bought a yoto to play them for my DC in years to come.

Starlin · 09/12/2023 08:06
