Not a bargain as such but if you are struggling to find a present for a gardener, these gardening gloves are great. They also have a lovely back story and money goes to a good cause.
They were recommended on here last year and I have been asked for repeat presents this year. Win win all round

I wondered if I might be able to pick everyone's brains as there have been some great suggestions on these threads... sadly it is likely to be my lovely dad's last Christmas with us, and he'd like to buy my 5 month old DD a beautiful children's book she can treasure for years to come. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance x

SugarCookieMonster · 08/12/2023 16:43

Lovely gloves, just what I need for my ‘I don’t need anything’ DF! Thank you

ilisten2theradio · 08/12/2023 16:43

If any of you need to get anything from Long tall Sally LTSGIFT10 gives £10 off a £50 spend.
Also XMAS23 gives €20 off a €40 spend for ZeMove I have bought a telescope thing to work with DHs phone before from them it arrived very quickly no additional charges and he was happy with it.

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. Have you seen the kind of books where the grandparent writes a guided memoir?

What about the Letterfest personalised plant a tree book. It’s a lovely story book and a tree is planted for every book sold. You even get a map showing where your tree is planted.

nicky2512 · 08/12/2023 17:38

Not christmassy but for Christmas Day - ds will be 18. Any ideas welcomed for decorations/balloons/badge/paper plates etc. I would love something a wee bit different. He’s mainly into cars but anything funny or unusual would be good. Preferably online as I’m not in the best health so avoid the shops where I can!

RepetitiveMotion · 08/12/2023 17:57

So did IRL shopping and collected free advent things - M & S 100ml room spray and John Lewis free miniature Hendricks.

Neither were easy to obtain. Both involved puzzled looking assistants and asks for help. M & S was particularly bad - tried two floors, three sales assistants who were clearly sick of being asked. Pointed in a vague direction which was incorrect etc. Took 10 minutes to get it - but worth it as decent size and lovely product. The gin miniature was almost necked in the stressful process!!

Thanks to the pp who suggested fluffy oodie things for the 9 & 11 yo girls - got some XS adult ones in Primark for £12 a pop that look decent.

We got the Goodmans mini fridge from b&m which is good but over your budget I think it was about £40

where is the current best place to get Christmas tree serving dishes by Spode or an I bet waiting for the jan sales? Overwhelmed by websites

There’s quite a few bits of Spode on Brand Alley

@Bookbug92

So sorry to hear about your dad. A lovely book that grows with them is Dr Seuss ‘oh the places you’ll go’.

When we were in this place with my dad he also chose a beautiful Christmas tree decoration for my two DC, that we put on the tree each Christmas and think of him. The kids love this ( and will go with them when they leave home!).

fishfingersandchipsagain · 08/12/2023 18:12

@Bookbug92 so sorry to hear your situation. I would also recommend “the places you’ll go”. It’s a book that grows with them. Maybe with a handwritten inscription?

How about- the Jolly Christmas postman for a lovely Christmassy book or an illustrated book of Aesops Fables for a book which she might not love now but might love in the future?

Dolphintrainer · 08/12/2023 18:32

@nicky2512 I don’t k know if you’re crafty at all, but my DS turned 18 in the Covid lockdown Christmas. I cut out a huge number 1 and 8 from big delivery boxes that ended
mum waist height, and covered them in photos of him from baby to 18. He loved it! And only the cost of the printed pics. Just an idea!

winewolfhowls · 08/12/2023 18:33

Sorry to hear about your dad Bookbug92, have you seen the beautiful pop up books by Robert Sabuda? We have the dinosaur one and Peter Pan, they are gorgeous and a real keep for ever book.

nicky2512 · 08/12/2023 18:37

That sounds great @Dolphintrainer I could maybe persuade dd to help!

HerInfiniteVariety · 08/12/2023 19:02

@Bookbug92 a book illustrated by Isabelle Brent would be lovely, they have gold details that are really special.

Isabelle Brent story collections

There is a collection of Christmas stories that could be brought out each year, or Just So Stories is a classic and addresses the stories to ‘Best Beloved’.

Wishing you a lovely Christmas with your dad and family ❤

Has anyone posted these, possible stocking fillers?

RumItOver · 08/12/2023 20:06

@Bookbug92 my mum got my son the book "On the Night you were Born" by Nancy Tillman and gave it to him when he was newborn. He is 5 now and my mum passed away about 18months ago. He loves his book from Nana and truly believes it is about him. It has beautiful illustrations and is just wonderful. ❤️ If its ok i would also suggest a Christmas ornament books are more likely to get damaged long term and a special ornament to get out that grandad got for your little would be really special. Sending lots of love to you all, 🤞 for a good Christmas

Not a discount, but a lovely present if anyone is looking for a large “wow” present for a dinosaur loving younger kid

I also recommend Nany Tillman, "Wherever you are my love will find you" is a beautiful book.

Hope you all manage a lovely Christmas, it's hard when a parent is poorly ♥️

I was going to suggest these too. The Alice in Wonderland is marvellous as well.
