Thanks @bizzey for the title Xmas Grin

Hope all are well.

I’ve been umming and erring over a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser (due to the price [gulp]). I see Aldi have what appears to be their version coming on sale later this week at around £20 (I think, or might have been £30). Anyway, has anyone bought one before, and is it any good?

We purchased an Aldi dupe. The DC loved it but it didn't last until the new year! Aldi were quick enough to give us a refund but the DC were so disappointed that we ended up buying the velvetiser anyway. This is a couple of years ago. We use it all of the time and I know that if it broke tomorrow we would buy another.

Does anyone know if there’s any way to get an our generation doll set any cheaper? DD wants the school room set and it’s £140 😭😭😭😭

Thelifeofawife · 05/12/2023 22:06

@MaybeMrs I have bought a couple of sol de Janeiro products from Notino (as well as other products), I found them to be the cheapest as often have discounts. They arrive really quickly and you can go through top cashback

Beckafett · 05/12/2023 22:08

I'm 'done' for my kids presents aged 7 and 12. However my partner wants a Funko and the cheapest place is symths. Anyone seen any great deals I can add on for either layaway party gifts or birthday presents please? Delivery is only £2.99 but I'd appreciate maxing it!

Thelifeofawife · 05/12/2023 22:08

@jamrolypolyandcustard I was going to recommended the turtle dove fingerless gloves also. I haven’t personally used them but have bought as gifts for Christmas and they feel lovely and soft, I am tempted to buy for myself now

Thelifeofawife · 05/12/2023 22:10

@LostMyLovelyLlama I was starting to think they had allowed all these orders then just cancelled them all as so many people have said they were cancelled. That’s good that it’s gone through for some people

LostMyLovelyLlama · 05/12/2023 22:13

@coolpattern
A standard inkjet printer and plain iron on transfer sheets work too
Prints don't last forever - but quite a few washes if washed according to
Instructions
We use our standard cheap HP printer and works just fine
My DC really enjoy designing their own T-shirts like this

I don't know if this is any good as an idea for anyone, but I've set up a cheese subscription, and a wine subscription, through Abel and Cole, for my DParents.

We're visiting them this year, and there won't be a huge amount of room in the car.

The cheese club is 4 cheeses for £16.50 and you can choose the frequency (I went with every 4 weeks).

The wine option I went with was 2 bottles for £22, again, every 4 weeks.

You only pay one set of delivery costs.

There were also options of sending fizz/red/white wine and cheese.

Search for Abel and Cole Monthly Cheese Club or Abel and Cole Cheese and wine club

A slightly belated thanks to @Yeknom, @lemonsmum, @goodgriefsean, @Brusselssprouts25 , @ConsuelaHammock, @1stTimeMama, @handmademitlove , @wideawakeinthemiddleofthenightagain, @MrsChristiesChristmasCake, and anyone I missed, which is hopefully no one, for all the book suggestions for my seven year old niece. She's tried virtually none of them (they live in California, and apparently there's still a fair bit of difference in children's popular fiction), so that's her sorted for Christmas and February birthday, and a few ideas to share with other relatives besides!

Turtle doves fingerless gloves - for me they are good when I need to use my fingers, eg writing, surfing the internet or pottering about inside.

I don’t find them warm enough outside, for instance on a walk or on my bike, unless I wear another pair of gloves on top.

Does anyone know how long zavvi orders take to deliver? I ordered Lego from them 2 weeks ago and still haven’t received it. I’ve had an email saying they know I’m waiting….

So many namechecks for these, I vote the next thread should be called "2 Turtle doves (fingerless gloves)" @Reastie

You’ve just reminded me I’m still waiting for an order from them from 2 years ago!

Oh help! I have gone down a Jellycat Bunny hole. Does anyone have the definitive answer please to what the very smallest silver bashful bunny is please? Google tells me it's called tiny or baby and is 13cm, but I can't find anywhere that sells one that small except rattles/ sewn to to comforters. Smallest I can find is 18cm.

The smallest one is the keychain / key ring one. https://www.jellycat.com/bashful-bunny-beige-bag-charm-bb4bbc/

@Beautifulsunflowers I've also had an awful experience with Zavvi. I ordered 4 gifts for Christmas last year in June, none of them ever arrived. I'd forgotten until I went to wrap those siblings gifts, I had to email them once a month until they eventually refunded me (one at a time the last being September this year).

I would agree with this, this time of year I am constantly wearing my turtle dove gloves. I have some gloves to wear when going outside.

Those rechargeable hand warmers are a game changer though, im so happy im not going to have cold hands this winter!

Another idea for the always cold, long hot water bottles. Great for using on the sofa but also warming the bed, they stay hot for ages too. I got one from amazon and its fantastic!

XmasShoppingsister · 06/12/2023 00:33

Today's (Wednesday's) Advent offer at Quidco is 25% cashback at Boots online.

I'm tempted to get a Dreamland heated throw from Boots as some have up to £20 off. Does anyone know of any better deals for heated throws? Even with 20 off they are £60plus

CoffeeAndEnnui · 06/12/2023 01:21

Does anyone remember the name of the older child/teen bank account with a cash card that was mentioned here a few threads ago?

1stTimeMama · 06/12/2023 01:27

If anyone happens to see a Hufflepuff and Gryffindor house banner lego set in Lidl, I'd (well my daughter!) be very grateful if you could get them for me. I've tried 3 stores, but no luck.

XmasShoppingsister · 06/12/2023 01:57

Just wanted to say a huge thankyou to @SootspriteSearcher for the £6 argos Bumbumz recommendation, picked them up today and really pleased with them, such a bargain!

sorryiasked · 06/12/2023 05:27

@Scout2016 the smallest "normal" silver bashful bunny is 18cms.
